.....even if we can't understand it yet.....

"Ma," upon hearing her 10-year-old eldest son Henry it brought her back to where she is now.

"Hey, you're awake. Can you help me prepare for breakfast then?" sweetly ordered Amor.

"I'll be the one to help you prepare for breakfast instead Ma," uttered her 9-year-old daughter Olivia who just came out from their room.

"Fine, then. Henry why not wake Emma up so that you will not be late in going to school, huh?" said Amor.

"Yes, Ma," answered Henry.

Emma is still 7 years old and just entered primary school while her two younger sons Jacob 4 and newborn Michael stay with her at home.

After having their breakfast, the 3 of them set off to go to school and Amor continued on with her usual chores while her 2 younger children are still asleep. Before she graduated from Senior High, Theo already sought permission from Amor's parents for marriage. Her parents thought it will be better for her to marry Theo right away since he is already capable and she will just be responsible for taking care of their own family. But a year after they got married Theo's father was diagnosed with cancer and had to undergo treatment in Cebu City that caused him to sell some of his properties to pay for the medication. Amor wanted to work to help with the finances but Theo only wanted her to stay at home and take care of their children. When their 3rd child was born, Theo's parents died, and to pay all their debts he had to sell all his properties except the house they are living in. Since then, Theo has not been the dashing rescuer she fell in love with and has turned into an abusive father and husband. Nevertheless, she still hopes that their family will know peace once again.

At around 9 in the morning while preparing for lunch Theo woke up looking for Amor in the kitchen. "Jacob is already awake, why don't you stop what you're doing now and take care of him first?" ordered Theo.

"Can't you take care of the kids for now? Or do you want to be the one to prepare for lunch instead??" asked Amor. Theo got irritated and stormed out of the house, she then chased him outside. "You just woke up after arriving drunk this morning, you have not even given me your salary yet so that I can pay what we owed in the store and now you're going out again?" angrily asked Amor.

But this angered Theo more and grabbed her arm. "I worked hard for my money, you wait when I will give you the money. Get back inside!" he shouted at her and hurriedly walked further away from their house. Amor left speechless again can only watch her husband walk away with no other choice but to go back to their house. Time passed and she diligently continued on with her housework; cook, do the laundry, feed the kids. She has learned to accept that this is indeed her fate, after all this was the choice she made but the wings of the dying butterfly in her heart still flutter at times reminding her that she is still alive.

While nursing her 1-month-old son Michael, she saw a group of people nearby chatting excitedly with each other. With nothing else to do, Amor approached them out of curiosity and spotted a familiar face. "Pppppssssttt Evelyn," calling out her friend.

"Amor, you're there," she then motioned to Amor's side.

"What's the fuss all about?" queried Amor.

"Ah..... Emily is recruiting for work in the city," answered Evelyn.

"Is it for another construction project?"

"Nah! She is looking for a stay-in helper this time."

"That's not new, she always recruits for stay-in helpers."

"It's different this time. Her client is a foreigner thus they require a helper that can speak, read, and even write in English."

"Huh?" chuckled Amor. "Salary might be good then for them to require much skill."

"I heard the starting salary is Php5,000 with benefits but the client will only give you 1-month probation. From what I heard, none of Emily's recruits passed the probation."

"Are they really that meticulous?"

"Well, any one of us here can do housework but not all of us are good enough in English. If you don't have a newborn right now I will definitely recommend you to Emily."

"Even if I don't have a newborn right now, you know I will not apply for that job."

"You will not apply because you can't and not just with that job but any other job for that matter. Need I remind you what kind of student you were?" Evelyn is not just a friend since they have known each other for 2 decades now since primary school.

Amor can only roll her eyes in response. "Good luck to the next applicant then. I'll get back inside now since the children will be home from school in a bit. I'll see you around."

Seeing her friend leave like that, Evelyn can only shake her head since she knows Amor deserves better than what she has right now.

A motorcycle then came rushing in her direction and since the driver did not wear a helmet she immediately recognized who it was.

"Oliver! Are you drunk driving again?!" she angrily asked.

But Oliver's face was pale and is catching his breath. "Where is Amor?"

"In their house of course," Evelyn's heart is pounding this time. "What is wrong?" she asked.

Oliver only gave her a sigh as a response and walked hurriedly to Amor's house. Without any invitation, Evelyn followed through.

Amor has just placed Michael in the hammock when she heard a loud knock on the door. Since they only have a curtain that serves as a division for their room and the window in their living room is open she can easily see who is outside their house.

"Oliver?" she called out and was more confused when she saw Evelyn was behind him. She then opened the door and ushered both of them to get inside. "What's up with you two?" she asked. Evelyn only looked at Oliver with a more confused look.

"Amor, it's Theo....." before Oliver can finish his sentence the dying butterfly in her heart suddenly grew legs as big as that of a lion and is pounding her heart it hurts.

At times we still can't believe we are in the place we are standing at the moment but things can still change in our lives we just need to be patient.
