Love can’t be confined to pages .....

Anxiously waiting in the hospital ward, Theo arrived in a wheelchair assisted by the nurse. Amor hurriedly approached Theo to help him transfer to the bed. "Are you hungry? Do you need anything?" she asked but Theo just closed his eyes as he lay on the bed. "I asked Noah to help us look for a cab so that we can go home immediately, unfortunately, the driver will only be available tomorrow so we need to stay here for another night," but still Theo is not responding. "I'll just sit beside the bed in case you need anything, okay?" but Theo only let out a sigh as his response.

Morning came and the cab arrived, Noah assisted Amor in lifting Theo in and out of the cab. About half an hour later, they arrived home and since the wheelchair cannot fit in their door Theo needs to be lifted first all the way inside their house. As soon as Theo is inside the house he sat in the wheelchair and went straight to their room. "Ah Noah, thank you for helping us out today. We'll just let Theo rest, for now, I'll let you know when we need to go back to the hospital so we can contact the cab again," said Amor.

"Don't mention it, let me know if there's anything more that I can help you with. We'll get going now," then Noah left.

"Amor," Daniel her father called her attention. "Since you're here now I'll go back home but just let your mother stay here to help you out with the kids. I will not disturb Theo so just let him know I have left, okay?"

"Thank you pa, take care on your way home."

After seeing his father leave, Amor went back inside their house and found that her mother Elizabeth is now preparing for lunch. "Don't worry about helping out in the kitchen, you go and check on Theo now." Amor then went inside the room and found Theo staring blankly at their sleeping children Jacob and Michael.

"Do you want to lie down?" she asked.

"To whom did you borrow money from?" Theo asked. Of all the number of people she borrowed money from, Amor does not know where to begin. "What do you plan to do with the borrowed money now that I cannot work for a long time?" asked Theo again. Amor has been giving it a lot of thought while she was in the hospital and now that Theo is asking she now has the courage to tell him and can only hope that he will agree.

"Uhm..... Emily is actually in town. I heard she is looking for workers, I was planning to go see her later." Amor is waiting for Theo's response but he just silently sat in his wheelchair still staring at the kids. Just then, there was a knock on the door and before she can get to it her mother already answered the door.

"Ay, Aunt Elizabeth it's you, is Amor there?" without seeing who it is Amor knows who their visitor is.

"Oi, Evelyn, yes Amor is here. Come inside," Elizabeth then ushered Evelyn inside. "You're just in time lunch will be ready soon," said Elizabeth.

"Ah, don't worry about me auntie I won't stay here for long," said Evelyn. Amor then joined her in the living room. "Amor, how are you? How is Theo?" she asked.

"We are fine. What brings you here?"

"I'm not sure if this is the right time to discuss this but we don't have much time either," there was an urgent tone in her voice.

"What about?" asked Amor.

"It's about Emily. I already asked her if she still needs people to bring with her to the city. Although she can still accommodate you she will leave tomorrow, I know you just got back but if you are still interested to work then might as well talk to Emily now."

Upon hearing the news, Elizabeth joined in the conversation. "That will be indeed too sudden Amor but of course no one planned for this to happen. I may not be able to stay here all the time but if you will push through with your plan I can bring Jacob and Michael with me. Henry and Olivia can help take care of Emma, besides both of them already knows some chores and they are also in school so it won't leave much burden to Theo if you leave."

Amor knows what she should do but she is definitely not emotionally prepared to see her kids being separated let alone leave them. She has only known housework for the last decade and thought that she will be doing the same chores for another 1 to 2 more decades. Theo has not even verbally agreed yet to her plan but she knows this is against his will and is left with no choice as well. "Fine, I'll go talk to Emily now. Evelyn, please wait for me outside I'll just change my clothes."

"Sure."

Jacob has now woken up but still laying in bed and Theo is still in his wheelchair staring blankly at their children. "Mama," Jacob cried out. How can she leave her family like this? How can she leave her children??

"Hey, mama needs to go somewhere with aunt Evelyn but don't worry grandma is in the kitchen if you're hungry you can go ask for food now, okay?" she then picked Jacob up and he went outside the room. "Theo, Evelyn is here. I'll go with her to talk to Emily, I won't be long I'll be back right away," but Theo just sat still. Not wanting to waste any time, Amor did not wait for Theo's response and went outside their room.

"Ma, we'll go ahead now. I'll be back right away."

"Sure. I won't see you out since I am feeding Jacob."

"Okay."

Emily's house is just 5 blocks away from theirs thus it did not take them that long to get to her house.

Evelyn hurriedly knocked on the door. "Yes, who is it?" asked Emily.

"Emily it's me, Evelyn, I'm with Amor."

Emily then immediately opened the door.

"Oh, I never thought you'd still come. Please come inside," Emily ushered them to her house.

As soon as they are all seated Emily went straight to the point. "I will cut the chase and go straight to the point. My clients are a family of 4 from South Korea, of course, husband and wife with 2 children 9-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son. They have been living in the city for a year now but have been replacing their workers since then. Of the 50 workers, I have recommended to them only 5 passed the probationary period, as to what exactly they are looking for that I do not know. Their only qualification is able to read, speak, and write in English; once you pass the probationary period that is when they will give you a permanent position. I can no longer discuss with you the compensation of a regular employee since I do not handle that matter anymore but on what I heard starting salary is Php10,000 with benefits still. But as a probationary worker for a month, you can take home Php5,000 with benefits. I already have enough recruits but I still added you to the list so whether or not you'll come with us tomorrow is entirely up to you. The job description is a stay-in housekeeper so expect that you will be asked to do anything house work-related. You have 1 day off in a week or you can take 2 consecutive days off every 2 weeks and the salary is given twice a month. The contract will be given once you pass the interview, don't forget to bring a barangay certificate. I think I have covered most of it, if you have any questions might as well save it when you meet our boss."

In Amor's mind, she only hopes to work for a month and treat it as a part-time job but still, she does not know what tomorrow brings to her and her family.
