The Coumarine Gym

The next day, I woke up, slightly still exhausted from yesterday's training. Afterwards, I re-realized that there was a gym in this city. So, I began to strategize on who I would use in the battle while I got ready for the day. My best options would be to use Son Goku, Hades, and Doomsday in the battle, which might trigger the first two's evolutions. However, Lapras wouldn't be a bad backup option. Fronja would be the worst option since I'm going to fight a grass-type gym leader. Not to mention the fact that he's going to have a legendary and probably a mega. So this is gonna be very hard to win. But at least I know roughly what mega and legend he will have. For the mega, he can only have Sceptile, Abomasnow, or Venusaur. Wulfric will probably have Abomasnow, so I can rule that out. As for Sceptile, its mega has a useless ability and has a four-times weakness, so that's gone. Leaving Venusaur.

Now, for the legendary. That one's harder to deduce, even if there are only 3 grass type legends. Shaymin, which fits his style, Virizion, or Arceus with the Meadow Plate. He's not gonna have Arceus, so it's one of the other two. I'm leaning towards Shaymin, however, since it does fit his style. Once I figured this out, I was ready to go. However, I didn't want to challenge the gym right away. Instead, I decided to go on to Route 13 beforehand. So, I got on the train to the hillcrest side of the city.

But on said train, guess who I saw? None other than Serena herself. After noticing me on the train, she walked over and began to speak to me.

"Oh, hey, Black! How have you been?" she asked.

"I've been fine. I plan on challenging the gym soon, so there's that," I responded.

"Cool! Before your gym battle, do you wanna have a battle with me, for extra training?" she asked.

"Sure. My pokemon could use it," I said. As soon as I did, the train stopped and we got off. We walked to the battlefield next to the pokemon center after healing our pokemon.

"Alright, Serena, are you ready for this?" I asked her.

"Of course! Come on out, Meowstic!" she said, bringing out her female Meowstic.

"Alright then. Doomsday, come out!" I said.

"Doomsday, I want to see how you do without me. So, attack with all you've got!"

"Don't let him get too close, Meowstic! Now, use Disarming Voice!"

Meowstic yelled out, causing a beam of purple hearts to head straight for Doomsday. Easily, he countered the attack with a Flamethrower. Using this to his advantage, he ran straight at Meowstic to attack with a Bite.

"Meowstic! Get him away with Disarming Voice, once again!"

Meowstic did the same thing, or began to, but Doomsday landed his attack before Meowstic could fire off hers. Using his teeth, he threw Meowstic towards me. Then, he sent a Dark Pulse at her while she was still on the ground, finishing her off.

"Darn! Come back, Meowstic! Come out, Absol!"

"Alright, Doomsday, come back. Son Goku! Come out!"

We both let our pokemon out of their pokeballs, both of them ready to battle.

    "Alright, Absol! Use Quick Attack!"

    "Okay, Son Goku! Use-"

But he didn't let me say anything. With Absol coming straight for him, he swiftly dodged the attack, using his flames to propel himself away. Then, he used his flames again to lunge back at Absol, who was stunned at this technique. Son Goku used Mach Punch, his fist glowing white. The impact launched Absol far away, almost knocking it out. But, slowly, it got back to its feet.

"Absol, are you okay?" It nodded. "Okay! Use Slash!"

"Son Goku, listen to me. Use-"

{Sorry, Black, but my passion for battle is burning! I'm doing this on my own!} He said.

"Respectable. Do as you wish," I responded.

Absol ran back at Son Goku, claws glowing white. But Son Goku used Counter, blocking the attack, giving him an opening to attack with a Fire Uppercut. But he wasn't done. He jumped up into the air, flames propelling him further. And in the air, repeatedly, he punched and punched Absol before launching it to the ground with a point-blank Focus Blast, finishing it off.

"How is your Monferno so strong?"

"Special training, I assume. Now, come back by my side. Come out, Hades!"

Son Goku walked back to me, and stood by my side. I brought out Hades, who was clearly close to evolution.

"Well then, it's time! Let's go, Chesnaught! Use Rollout!"

    "Hades, dodge and use Flamethrower."

    "Bail and use Needle Arm!"

    Was not expecting that.

Chesnaught rolled into a ball of rocks, barreling towards Hades. He swiftly dodged, but Chesnaught came out of the ball he was in and used Needle Arm, launching Hades before he could get an attack in.

    "Now, Rollout again!"

"This time, go for Flame Scratch."

Chesnaught turned back into a ball of rocks and rolled at Hades, who got up quickly. With his claws covered in flames, he grabbed Chesnaught and held him. However, Chesnaught kept rolling, pushing Hades into a wall, but he still held on. Hades had a burst of strength and lifted Chesnaught and threw him back into the battlefield, no longer a rock. Then he Flame Charged back to the fight and used a flurry of Flame Scratches on the unsuspecting Chesnaught.

    "Chesnaught! Spiky Shield!"

"Stop physically attacking, whittle the shield down from afar."

Chesnaught put its arms together to create a barrier, blocking Hades from attacking. As soon as the barrier was up, Hades jumped away from it, to avoid being hit by its spikes. Then, Hades used a Flamethrower to try and whittle down the shield. With the Flamethrower being super-effective, he cracked the barrier easily.

"Now, Flame Scratch, but with precision."

    "Chesnaught, be on guard."

Hades rushed back towards Chesnaught, his claws covered in flames. Looking at the spikes, Hades found a spot where he could scratch without hurting himself. He hit the barrier in that spot, shattering it, and knocking Hades backwards. Chesnaught, however, was still on guard. He immediately rushed forwards to hit Hades with a powerful… Poison Jab? Chesnaught's fist had turned purple, so I can only assume that this was the attack.

    "Hades, dodge, quick!"

"Attack with your new move, Poison Jab!"

Hades, however, didn't listen. He countered the Poison Jab with his own Flame Scratch, but it was not nearly enough. Chesnaught easily won the exchange, launching Hades backwards. But then, something changed in the environment. Hades began to burn up. I mean that a little too literally, once again. His body began to cover itself in flames. I thought that this was Flame Charge at work, but I was wrong. Hades began to glow blue in that flame, causing the fire to appear blue as well. He was evolving! Slowly, he began to grow. His horn split in two. His tail grew even longer. Wings sprouted from his back. The flames burst, and the blue glow stopped. Finally, he was revealed as a Charizard, ready to fight with a second wind.

"Alright Hades! Let's win this! Use Wing Attack!" I said.

    "Poison Jab, again!" Serena shouted.

Hades flew upwards with amazing control over his wings. He came downwards at an extreme speed, with his wings glowing white headed straight for Chesnaught. But Chesnaught was ready. Hades attacked with his white wing, and Chesnaught grabbed the wing with his Poison-typed arm. However, Hades whirled around and hit with the other wing, removing Chesnaught's grip and knocking Chesnaught away.

    "Now, use Air Slash!"

    "Dodge it, quick!"

But Chesnaught was too slow. The blades of wind came at intense speeds towards Chesnaught, who was unprepared for a Special Attack to come at him. The blades cut right through Chesnaught's arms who were put together to block an attack. The blades pushed Chesnaught backwards before breaking its guard and launching it away with the last hit. This ended the battle.

"Dang it! Come back Chesnaught, take a rest before the big battle," Serena said.

    "You too, Hades," I said.

"Wow! You really can only get stronger, huh?" Serena asked.

"That's what it seems like, I guess," I answered.

While our pokemon got re-healed, we continued talking about training strategies before saying our goodbyes and I went to the gym. Entering, all I saw was a white tree in the middle of the very large gym. Going through the gym puzzle, I fought multiple trainers with Hades, Son Goku, and Doomsday to train them up. Eventually, I got to the top of the tree and saw a small, green office with a stadium behind it. In the office, there was an elderly man sitting in a chair. He got up, turned around, and saw me.

"Hey there, whippersnapper! I assume you're here for a battle for the Plant Badge?" the man asked.

"Yes, sir, I am here for a battle. My name is Black, and I am confident that in my pokemon that they will defeat you," I said, politely.

"Well then, young sprout, I'm Ramos and I accept your challenge. Come along, there's a stadium just behind my office," he said back.

We walked behind the office to a very large stadium that seemed as if it belonged in a jungle. Instantly, I knew exactly who to use in this battle. Once we took our places, a referee came to watch the match.

"Alright! This shall be a match between the one known as Black versus the gym leader, Ramos! You are both allowed five pokemon, and only the challenger can switch between pokemon during the battle! Are you both ready?" We nodded. "Then, battle begin!"

Immediately, Ramos brought out his first pokemon, a Victreebel. So, I countered with Hades. Finally, the fourth gym battle had begun.
