Remembering Cars

By time they made it back, Jesseye was as bright as ever. How could she not be? He had spent the last fifteen minutes holding her and walking into the sunset -- like a scene from a movie. It was rare for them to be so close, for so long, alone. She was more than grateful that he'd invited her to run now. She giggled as he set her down. Now all they had to do was live happily ever after.

Shane waved her goodbye before returning to his van to change.

She'd run with him every time if it meant being carried by him. Her heart felt so full and warm that it didn't even bother her when she saw Jazzebella painting her face with concealer for her date. "Getting ready already?" She asked with a small snicker.

"Of course!" her dark skinned sister chimed, "Only an hour left, Jess," Jazza cooed with the slight smirk of her full lips. The last hour was the most important and she still had so much to do.

Jesseye snickered lightly, "Cuz you need sooo much makeup." She mocked like a little sibling, lifting a lock of her mahogany hair up.

Jazzebella glared at her in the mirror,"Don't touch my hair." She snapped before shaking her head. "You'll understand when you go on a date."

"I just did," Jesseye whispered into her ear before backing up with an infecious smirk, "He carried me home." She said, giggling like a mischievous little girl,"Jazz, he rubbed my arm the whole time.." She melted into a chair behind her friend.

The dark woman raised an eyebrow at her in the mirror,"He did?" She asked in surprise. Truthfully she'd begun to think he'd never act.

Jesseye nodded,"Ohh, I like him so much." She moaned dreamily, holding both hands over her heart,"I don't know what I'll do if I can't have him someday." She said softly, meaning every syllable.

Her sister sighed deeply while shaking her head slowly from side to side, "Be patient, Jess. All good things come in time." Jazzebella reminded softly.

The lovestruck woman looked back to her best friend and smiled sweetly, "You're date is going to be amazing. You're beautiful without that stuff, Jazz." She complimented with a nod as her friend stood to pick out a cute outfit.

Jazz smiled and affectionately pet the ginger's head. She simply loved the bond between them, "Don't stay up too late with Shane. You need rest after a run that long," she mothered before looking in her closet once more.

Her sister giggled and shook her head,"Yeah, sure!" She stuck her tongue out at her. Jazza bit her lip as she struggled to decide. A cute T? Jeans? Tony still hadn't told her where they were going so she had no idea how formal she needed to be. Did she need a dress? How did she know that they were even eating at a restaurant? She wouldn't be surprised if he was gonna bring her to eat with his family. She *did* love those kids. While she shuffled through outfits, Jesseye smirked lightly,"But I want you back by midnight!" She mothered back, pointing her finger at her.

Jazza scoffed, but looked back to wink at her. She loved it when Jesseye was this cheerful, but she wished she'd keep the silliness to a minimum. Still, the delema remained. What the heck was she going to wear? Eventually she decided, straying closer to formal, on a white dress shirt with a black jabot and black pants. "Don't chu worry, Jess. I'll be home." She said with a nod. Even if it went *really* well, she wouldn't stay the night. She then glanced to the door,"Close that, will you?" It was only the first date. She had morals.

"Sure!" Jesseye jumped up to shut it while the slightly older woman changed.

Jazzy added some tall, elegant, white heels and her black leather jacket then smiled at herself in the mirror before finally walking into the shop again. Jesseye's heart melted all over again when she saw him in his pj's: some grey sweatpants and tank top. "Shane." the dark skinned woman disrupted his acute attention from the tv in order to receive his 'all important' opinion, "How do I look?" She asked bluntly, holding a hand on her hip.

Shane blinked, glanced over the back of the couch, and smiled. He gave her a solid look then nodded his approval. "You look good, Jazz." A little different than what he would of guessed, but he liked it. "Tony will love it." He assured her.

"Thank you." Jazzabella said genuinely before glancing to the door, "Hope so." After giving her sister a short hug, she left the garage in favor of her corvette.

He nodded before looking back to the TV while Jesseye quietly moved upstairs to change her own pj's. Rubbing his tired eyes, Shane sighed deeply at the show. It was only 7. He was never this tired now! Upon appearing next to him Jesseye asked, "Whatcha watchin'?" looking back and forth between him and the screen.

"The office." He answered vacantly, rubbing his eyes some more. She nodded and touched his ultra fluffy hair. He slumped into the comfy couch, relaxing once again. Instead of snapping at her like usual, he looked at her with a soft grin. "I'm so tired now. It's unusual, y'know?" He tried to converse, though sleepily

Jesseye shrugged and yawned, "Maybe it's because you carried me?" She asked through a small snicker.

"Usually I'm fine after my runs." He said with a small laugh. She combed her fingers through his hair and he had to draw a line. Touching it was one thing, styling was another. To fix it, he ruffled it.

She sighed and let her hand rest on the cushion behind him, leaning her head on the couch,"Maybe I'll get that way? I dunno." She prayed for another moment like they'd had on the way home, but she doubted she'd get lucky enough for that tonight.

*&^%$*&^%$*&^$*&^$*

Jazza smiled as she met up with her date at his restaurant, "The cook *can* clean, hm?"

Tony looked over and grinned to find her rather cleaned up as well. "Guess I can." he agreed while rounding the counter to greet her properly, "You look great as always, Jazz." He said with a light blush.

She smiled before glancing down to her stomach,"Thanks." she spoke before looking up with a smirk that hinted at mischief, "Wait," she stepped into his bubble to challenge his claim, "As always?" she asked with a brow raised.

He smiled despite the twisting of his stomache, "Better." though quiet, he answered her challenge with little to no hesitation, "I like the button up." He said generously, allowing himself more time to truly take her in. "It's.." he began to mention slowly, "Nice to see you out of overalls." he finally said, his cheeks glinting pink color. He was awestruck, it was adorable.

Though her heart fluttered, she pretended like it wasn't, "I'm excited to see what you got." She winked then stepped out of his bubble and started for the back door. "So you finally gonna tell me where we're going?" She asked through a small chuckle, her hand on her hip as she looked over to him slightly.

"No," He laughed as he held the glass door open for her. "You'll like it." He assured her before taking her hand and leading her to his car.

She smiled at him softly, her heart fluttering at his warm thumb rubbing her hand. How she loved it when he took charge. "Hope so." she whispered truthfully. After opening his blue truck's passenger seat for her, he walked around to his side and buckled up. She noted the tan seats. It was comfortable leather. Seemed old, but taken care of. He then cranked the car, flipped on the radio, and started drove down the road.

Jazza hummed lightly along with the music as he tapped his steering wheel. "Mm," she vehicle rattled over a bump. Her mind got working. Could it be the AC? It looked a little loose. "So what's your truck model? A ford?" She, being a mechanic, couldn't help the curiousity in her voice. Or was it the dash?

Tony nodded at the red light in front of him. "It's a Ford 35." He said with a smile. Her hand grazed it as she thought. Perhaps there was a crack hidden under the cream exterior that kept it from being silent? "Got it from my dad. I've had it since I was 19. It's served me well." He explained with a smile.

"That's rad." she said, letting some of her tension fall away, "I wish I still had Gramps' old car. Can you believe that was the first car he let me fix?" She asked with a small snicker, smiling fondly at the memory.

He smiled and looked to her. "Really? That's cool."

"Yeah," she snicker lightly as the old man came to mind, "I destroyed that car."

He stole a glance to her and together, they laughed.
