Chapter 13

"I'm sorry, Mark." Hazel apologized, clearly feeling guilty and bad for the man in front of her who was shedding his years of bottled up emotions through his warm, salty tears.

"Don't be! Haha! I'm glad she left me. At least, I got to know the real face of her. She didn't love me. She took advantage of me because I let her and I'm regretting that." Mark sniffled.

Guilt, regret and anger. Yes, Anger. He was guilty for doing such a mistake when he waz just a minor. He was regretting for letting his previous lover take advantage of him and anger was on his previous lover and himself.

His anger for his ex-lover was obvious but what about the bottled up anger for himself?

Everyday, the thought of his regret makes him do things which he shouldn't do. Well, no one should. He was depressed, frustrated and exhausted. Exhausted of life and everything in it. His son was keeping him going on. Just Aidan helps him cope up with life even though it's fucked up real time.

Nowadays, he feels happy when he is with Hazel and this dumb girl still hasn't noticed that Mark has interest on her. Mark is actually glad about it because his past is so strongly hurting that he is scared to fall in love now.

"Mark, did Aidan's previous babysitters know about this?" Hazel asked lowly, maintaining a stable eye contact with the man in front.

"No. I didn't tell them. They were actual attention whores who don't deserve my attention."

"Then why am I an exception?" Mark was taken aback by Hazel's sudden confident remark.

"Um- I- I don't know. You're different from others, no lie." Mark said quietly making Hazel smile softly and blush furiously.

Hazel has always been weird when she was in front of Mark. She acted like she was scared, well more like nervous. Hazel's mind would go blank when she makes eye contact with the silver haired man. Her heart starts to race in horse speed. Butterflies would dance in her stomach. She never got this feeling before. Not even when she met her ex-boyfriend, Christopher.

Mark was kind of same in this case too. His heart would be banging in his rib cage, making him feel like it would break out of his chest. His stomach would get butterflies flying around violently. He got this feeling when he saw Aidan's mum. He is kind of hating it but at the same time, loving it.

'Is this what you call love?' The lovers thought in sync as they maintain a subtle eye contact.

It is said that, when two people are in love their heartbeats are synchronized but it had be ruined by ear screeching wails.

"AIDAN!" The duo yelled before dashing towards the little boy.

"Daddy!" Aidan cried while hugging his father tight.

"Yes baby. Daddy's here. What happened? Why are you crying?" Mark asked softly as he picked the boy up. Hazel was beyond concerned for the little boy.

"Da-daddy! It hurts!" Aidan cried as he buried his head into his dad's broad chest.

"Where does it hurt, darling? Show Hazel." Hazel said softly as she held the boy in her arms while sitting down on the ground by the help of her knees.

"H-here..." Aidan sniffled.

"Here?" Hazel touched Aidan's ankle and the little boy yelped in pain. "It's a sprain. We need to go to the doctor, Mark." Hazel said, monotone.

"Y-yeah. Let's go to our car." Mark said before the Hazel and him were running off to their car. Hazel held Aidan close to her chest as she cradled him while Mark drove to the nearest clinic. Aidan was crying vigorously making his father and babysitter frown and look at each other.

"Please be careful, doc. Make sure he is not hurting much." Mark said, quietly. Definitely very concerned for his son and his sprained ankle.

"Haha! Relax, sir. It will not hurt much. Just calm him down while I plaster his ankle." The doctor said while taking out necessary medication items for the injured kid.

"Mark, will he be okay?" Hazel asked while looking up at the blue eyed man. Her hazel eyes pooled with tears threatening to fall. Mark frowned before he engulfed the girl in a side hug, minding that Aidan was on her lap.

"All done! I'll prescribe an ointment, apply that on his wound twice a day and he will running in a week. Make sure he rests and doesn't walk." The doctor said while scribbling on the prescription. Mark and Hazel sighed in relief while Aidan was fast asleep in Hazel's arms. He had a rough day after all.

"Thank you, doc." Mark and Hazel thanked in unison, the doctor smiling afterwards.

"I must say, ma'am and sir. Your son is really calm and adorable." Hazel was blushing aggressively when the doctor said that. Mark nervously laughed.

"I'm sorry but she is not his mother but his babysitter." The brunette said and the doctor laughed awkwardly.

"I'm sorry. You two seemed quite close and the way you were comforting her made me think like that." The doctor apologised before leaving the man and girl in a awkward silence.

The awkward aura still hasn't gone as Hazel sits on the passenger seat with Mark on the driver's one. Aidan sitting at the back, on his baby seat, sleeping soundly.

"This silence is so awkward." Mark mumbled. Hazel hummed. "I'm sorry."

"Why are you apologising?"

"It was my fault that the doctor thought that we are a couple."

"Don't be sorry for that, Mark. It doesn't matter what people think of you. You know what are we, so let it be." Hazel smiled while tilting her head sideways, her bangs softly bouncing.

'I'm whipped for this girl.' Mark thought as he felt his heart beating faster than usual.

"What are we, though?" Mark asked, looking straight at front. This question threw Hazel in pit of thoughts.

'He is right. What are we?'

"You still decided on what are we?" Mark asked again while pulling over on his mansion's parking space.

"We are... Um... Friends?"

'Shit! Fuck my life!' Hazel cursed internally.

"I don't mind."

'I'm so fucking dumb! What the fuck?!' Mark cursed internally.

They look at each other and laugh awkwardly.

"This is so awkward. I'm sorry." Hazel apologised.

"Chill. Let's get some coffee."
