Out the Window

"Spencer, it's time to get up. Why is the door locked?" Nick jiggles my doorknob like a crazy person and I open my eyes to my bright room.

I'm met with the perfect view of Chester. His feature are relaxed, his lips pouty, and hair fluffy. On instinct, my fingers go up to play with his bushy eyebrows. They trail down to trace his lips and then back up to play in his hair. I must seem crazy doing this while he sleeps. This moment is so peaceful considering my brother is knocking on my door like a caveman.

"Fine. I'll just go get the key. That boyfriend of yours better not be in there," Nick yells and I can hear him running down the stairs. Crap.

"Wake up, Chester!" I start shaking him frantically and he jumps out of his sleep.

"Good morning to you too, beautiful," he says in his husky voice, trying to come closer and give me a kiss. I stop him in his tracks.

"There's no time for that. Nick is going to unlock my door and find you if you don't get moving! You have to go."

"Don't try to run now! Your dead once I get inside this room, boy," we hear Nick say from the other side of the door. He really got back up here with the key fast.

Chester scrambles up from my bed and hurries to slide on his shoes. I go to my window to unlatch it for his departure. He runs to the window and goes out feet first, but he pauses with a smirk on his face.

"What are you doing, you idiot. You need to go," I yell at him.

"I need a kiss first. Kiss and then I'll leave." I growl at him, but he connects our lips. That's the exact moment the door opens.

When we pull apart and Chester is shocked by seeing 150 pound Nick running towards him. He rushes off the roof, but trips at the edge of it. I watch as he slowly falls and hits the ground in horror, and it isn't a soft landing.

Nick and I are shocked when we hear a thud hit the ground and a groan come from Chester. We both look down through the window to see if Chester is ok.

"Babe, you ok down there," I yell to him. He gives me a thumbs up and stands back up. He gets in his car and drives off.

The idiot is so glad that the second floor isn't too far from the ground.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

"Nick you're being ridiculous," I tell him, making myself a bowl of cereal. Everyone is at the dining table eating their own breakfast, except for Jamie. She's still getting dressed, surprisingly.

"No, I'm not. Your boyfriend climbed through your window in the middle of the night. I'm not overreacting."

"We didn't even do anything. He just came over to make sure I got some sleep and I really needed it. I've been walking around like a zombie for a couple of days. Now, I feel like I can do a hundred push ups," I tell him confidently.

"Mom, tell her she can't have boys coming up her window in the middle of the night," Nick says, acting like a baby. It's hard to believe this boy is in college. My mom looks up from some paperwork.

"He's right. If Chester wants to come over, he needs to come through the front door, your room door has to stay open, and he has to leave at a reasonable time," my mom tells me. I don't argue back with her because that would be rude.

"And I'm driving you to school today." I gape at Nick in horror.

"Are you serious Nick? You must be losing your mind," I yell at him. He doesn't get to answer because we're interrupted by Jamie running down the stairs.

"Okay, I'm ready," she says and I pause when my eyes land on what she's wearing.

"Where do you think you're going dressed like that," Nick asks her. Jaime's wearing a red, lacey bralette, black ripped skinny jeans, black ankle boots, and a leather jacket. Her makeup is done winged eyeliner, popping red matte lipstick, and the whole shabang. Her raging red hair completes the look.

I've never seen Jamie dress this bold, especially to school. There's definitely something up.

"I'm going to speak to Parker today and he won't be able to resist me," Jamie says, giving us a little twirl.

"Go change, now," Nick demands her. She just rolls her eyes and walks to the front door.

"There's no time for that. We have to leave now or we're going to be late," she says and walks out.

I look over at a stressed out Nick and smirk, knowing that he's annoyed. I follow behind Jamie. Jamie and I wait for Nick by his car and he comes out the house glaring.

"I wish I had brothers," I hear him mumble under his breath.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

"Are you going to meet up with David now," Chester asks me. Nick finally dropped us to school and Jamie went to find Parker. I'm flipping through my sketchbook, getting it ready to show David. This is my only chance. I can see him in the distance right by his locker. I fear that if I don't do it now, I'll be too late.

"Yep. Wish me luck." I rush faster over to David when I see him getting ready to leave his locker.

"Hey, David, wait up," I screech. I watch as he turns around with a scowl on his face. I guess he's still mad at me.

"What do you want, Spencer? Want to give me another excuse? Do you need more time?" I'm almost tempted to stay quiet because of the huge cold shoulder he's giving me.

"No. Actually, I have a sketch and it's a good one." I give him my sketchbook open to the correct page. At first he seems uninterested and I know it's because he's mad at me. But, I watch as he pauses, really seeing the sketch for the first time. He's really observing it and thinking.

He looks back up at me and I see him grin a little.

"You like it," I ask him. I have to be sure before I get too excited.

"Yeah. Good work, partner." I squeal in joy and pull him into a hug. He freezes in shock, but chuckles and pats my back awkwardly.

"Thank you for giving me another chance. I know I really messed up, but I won't do it again. Now we can really start working." I pull away from him, finally coming back to my senses.

"We meet after school?"

"Of course," I tell him. I watch him walk away with a smile on my face.

"Oh, Spence. There you are." I turn around to see a frantic Alexandra running down the hall. I've never seen Alex in such a frantic manner except for when she came out to me. When she finally reaches me, she bends over to catch her breath.

"What's wrong?"

"Emergency. In the gym."
