It was afternoon so there weren't many customers, there were just a few couples, Do Yun, Hyun Soo and the owner of the cafe. It was still cold outside and room heaters were keeping the cafe warm. It was also a bit of leisure time for Hyun Soo and Do Yun.
While Sang Hyeon on the other hand was busy with her guest who had been here for an hour. They have been in a serious talk since he has come and no one dared to disturb them.
****
It was quite silent there wasn't any customer now and Sang Hyeon was busy in making a list of the thing which were not in the cafe while her guest sat in front of her telling her something with a serious face when all of a sudden Hyun Soo yelled,
"What?!"
"I mean- why?" She said again being a bit polite. She was shocked to hear that Do Yun will not be at the cafe tomorrow.
"I have to go somewhere tomorrow so...you have to take care of everything for tomorrow." Do Yun replied to her calmly.
"But you can't just leave me alone." She said recklessly
"What?!" Do Yun replied at this unexpected reply of her with furrowed eyebrows.
"What I mean is, just today you've seen what happened when you weren't at the counter."
"Tomorrow what will happen when you won't be at the cafe, everyone will beat me to a pulp." Hyun Soo said recklessly without looking at what Do Yun's face was saying.
"Today she just scolded me tomorrow she'll slap me if she didn't find you, and you- you want a holiday!" She kept saying.
"Ms Hyun Soo!" For once and all Do Yun yelled at her just to grab her attention.
"Yes?" She said and looked at him.
Do Yun took in a deep breath and said,
"Don't panic, she won't come tomorrow. And one day isn't a big deal."
Gradually he started to get angry,
"I need to go tomorrow and you're no one to whom I should explain the importance of my leave."
It could be seen that he was getting frustrated again
"So, please. Do. As. I. Say."
Hyun Soo kept quiet cause arguing every time wasn't something she was used to. She nodded and took a sip from her bottle of hot water she had brought with her from home.
While Sang Hyeon looked at both of them and a smile appeared on her face...
****
"I'll go now."
"You may take care of yourself." The man stood up and bowed down to Sang Hyeon and left the cafe.
"Aren't you both hungry?" Suddenly Sang Hyeon asked and started walking in their way.
"I'm way too much hungry." She said an placed her hands on her belly.
Hyun Soo looked at Do Yun while he looked at Sang Hyeon,
"I'll consider that as a yes." Sang Hyeon said.
"Let's order something then." She took out her phone and started searching for instant delivery apps.
"I'll eat outside." Suddenly Do Yun said and Hyun Soo and Sang Hyeon both looked at him.
While thinking about why he was saying so Hyun Soo got surprised when he looked at her. Her eyes got widened and he said,
"I want some fresh air where there are no eyes on me."
As soon as he finished he let himself out of the cafe leaving Hyun Soo all embarrassed. She looked outside the exit door where he could still be seen, sadness could be seen on face clearly. She never really wanted to make Do Yun feel uncomfortable.
"Tch!" She exclaimed lightly and sighed looking at the ground.
"I know how you feel but..."
"Don't worry, he is like that at first." Sang Hyeon said and patted her back gently.
Hyun Soo looked at her gave out a small but sweet smile,
"Let's eat then." Sang Hyeon said and Hyun Soo nodded.
The cafe was closed for the next half an hour as it was one of the rules of the cafe that they will not be available for that period and considered it as a lunch break.
They sat and after fifteen minutes or so the delivery boy came in with two orders black bean noodle.
"Here you go, ma'am." The boy said and left in hurry.
For some minutes they both ate quietly without uttering a single word. Hyun Soo was lost in her thoughts, thinking about the incident which happened the farewell party's night and about the deep scar on Do Yun's neck. She craved for the answers to the question she had regarding those two incidents. She wished someone would answer it. With these thoughts, she was quietly engulfing the noodles.
On the other side, Sang Hyeon had noticed Hyun Soo and she could see that something was bugging her. So, to grab her attention she thumped the fork down and said,
"I can't ignore this anymore." She said being dramatically frustrated.
"Yes?" Hyun Soo with a bit raised eyebrows.
"Why are we eating so silently!!" She said in an annoyed voice with echoed.
"I don't like eating like this!"
Particularly if we say, Hyun Soo was witnessing the dramatic Sang Hyeon. The woman who is always chic, and arrogant for outsiders is a huge drama queen for her near ones. And this side of Sang Hyeon was no one much aware of except for Do Yun.
"So, how...should we eat?" Hyun Soo asked looking at, confusion twinkling in her innocent black eyes.
"Tell me something...about yourself. How's it?" Sang Hyeon said and kept the bowl of half-eaten noodles aside just to put her arms there.
"Sorry?! My-myself?" Hyun Soo was dumbfounded by Sang Hyeon's idea.
Sang Hyeon nodded with a small smile and said in the same dramatic voice,
"Tell me, how was it?"
Hyun Soo took a deep breath and said,
"It's hard, from where should I start."
"Tch!"
Hyun Soo baffled about what should she say, she can't ruin the mood of others by telling her suffering tale. Thinking about from where she should start she got lost into thoughts, in those thoughts she remembered nothing but sadness. From the day her dad died, the day which she doesn't even remember, the day for which she is all to be blamed since that day she has been leading a miserable life.
Every day her mother used to scold Eun Soo, her elder sister whenever she blamed Hyun Soo for their ill fates. Every day her mother used to cry on her pillow in the remembrance of her husband whom she lost at a very young age.
Hyun Soo knew all this because she was till then afraid of sleeping alone while Eun Soo had changed her room as she had started despising her younger sister. Every night Hyun Soo used to stand on the threshold of her mother's room, from the ajar door she could see how her mother used to jerk due to so much of crying. Every night Hyun Soo used to stand there and cry along with her mother whispering,
"Mom! Sorry!"
Hyun Soo was thinking all this when suddenly a hand approached her shaking hand which was kept on the table. She looked at the person who had gently placed her hand on hers. And out of nowhere, Sang Hyeon whispered,
"I know it hurts."
And a diamond-like tear escaped from Hyun Soo's flooded eyes...
