Chapter 134 - This Is How She Looks

The young man only felt that he had never seen through this man.

He had heard that Auntie Zheng was Imperial Uncle's savior, and that he had once uttered Auntie Zheng's name while he was in a coma, and that the two of them had suffered together in Xuzhou. However, when someone found her and sent her to him, he only gave her a maid position.

Was the royal family fickle, or was Imperial Uncle totally unfeeling?

"Imperial Uncle, how long does it take from the capital to Xuzhou?" No longer dwelling on those, lest they affect his good mood, the boy changed the subject.

"We'll travel by water, twelve days."

"Imperial Uncle, what kind of ship are we taking? Is it one of those big ships that pulls cargo or a small ferry that carries people? Or a charter boat?"

Wei Zi, who was outside the carriage, couldn't suppress the twitching of his lips. Since the little emperor got out of the palace gates, his excitement got the best of him, and he even knew what chartered boats were.

"No chartered boats," the man paused, "When we're out, call me Little Uncle."

"Oh, I'll remember Imperial Uncle," the young man's excitement was a little hit, but after the man's faint glance, he immediately changed his address, "Little Uncle."

He seemed to have never seen his uncle lose his temper since he became a bit sensible. He treated everyone with an indifferent manner and a shallow smile hanging from the corner of his mouth if nothing else. However, a sweeping glance from him was even more frightening than seeing him lose his temper.

Soon after boarding a ship from the capital's dock, the boy began to feel dizzy and could no longer drump up the energy he had earlier. He spent the first water trip of his life lying weakly in the cabin of the ship.

"Master, the ship will dock tomorrow. The convention will start on May twelfth. We came three days early, so you can let Young Master adjust a little in the other courtyard."

"Get in touch with the people keeping an eye on Baicao Valley and confirm their location, Make no mistakes."

"Yes!"

Meanwhile, Liu Yusheng's party, who had left the house over a month early, finally arrived at the Xuzhou border.

"Good thing we made it in time." Da Huang leaned against the front of the carriage and patted his chest. "If we really listened to Young Master and went to see Cang'er Mountain waterfall again, I'm sure we wouldn't have made it in time!"

"A round trip to see the waterfall is a day's delay at best!" Qian Wanjin defended and kicked Da Huang in the way. "Am I such an unreliable young master?!"

"Yes," Wei Hong confirmed coldly.

For over a month, if he hadn't dragged Liu Yusheng around like crazy, they would have been in Xuzhou long ago. There would have been no need to look for an inn that wasn't fully loaded like now. They've been searching half the street, but couldn't find an inn that wasn't full!

Qian Wanjin was a little guilty. He was indeed in a cheerful mood and overdid it.

It was mainly because touring the mountains with Lucky Nannan alone felt too good, so good that he was kind of reluctant to stop.

"Then … go and look for one again. Isn't there half a street that we haven't asked yet? Maybe there are still empty rooms!"

"What if there isn't?"

"No … if worse comes to worst, I'll just go buy a private house!"

Liu Yusheng sighed. She stretched out her hand and lifted the carriage curtain to look at the three people bickering. "Let's go and ask first. If we really can't book an inn, see if the surrounding homes can provide accommodation. We'll just pay them money."

"Yes, that's a good idea!" Qian Wanjin was relieved. Fortunately, Lucky Nannan wasn't angry with him. Otherwise, if he talked to her family later, he would really become an unreliable person in Grandma Liu's eyes.

Providence indeed wouldn't let down a man who did his best. Qian Wanjin finally booked two rooms. Upon receiving the room numbers, he almost cried tears of joy.

"Lucky Nannan, I booked-I booked-I booked!" The man raised the room number in his hand and ran towards the girl standing beside the street, shouting excitedly as he did so, "Lucky Nannan! I told you, you've got to trust me, right?"

In one of the carriages that passed by the girl on the street, someone went stiff and his blood flowed backwards.

"Stop the carriage!"

The carriage was fast, and even after heeding his order, it had already driven a good distance away.

"Imperial Uncle, what's the matter?" the boy's voice tensed. He has never seen his uncle display such emotions, elation mixed with fury written all over his face.

The man sat like a wooden sculpture, staring blankly into space. It wasn't until he heard another "Lucky Nannan" ringing out outside, that he seemed to wake up with a start.

He raised his hand and slowly leaned towards the curtain. He didn't dare hurry in fear of seeing nothing.

When his fingertips touched the curtain, he quickly drew it open. He dared not delay for fear that it would be too late for him to see the person outside.

Through the narrow window, his eyes froze sideways back and almost greedily fell on that smiling, winsome face, while everything around her faded as a foil.

She was wearing a pink and green dress, quietly elegant and fresh as jasmine in the morning light. The shallow arcs of her beautiful smiling eyes were just like before, totally infectious.

Her porcelain-white skin was almost transparent and tender under the sunlight.

A lift and a drop of her eyelids were evocative.

The little baby in his memory has grown up and looked like this.

He had pictured countless times in his mind what she would look like when she grew up, but all were far from the half-hearted vividness of her in front of him.

"Master?" Wei Zi also recognized the young girl at this point. Who else but the one from the Xinghua Village could make the Master react so strongly?

It was just a chance encounter under the circumstances.

Five fingers snapped hard against the carriage wall. "Go!" The curtains dropped and the man forced himself to cut off his vision, leaning against the carriage and closing his eyes.

If he continued to watch, he was afraid he would lose control of his impulses and drag her to him and into his world.

On the street, Liu Yusheng looked around suspiciously.

"What's going on?"

"Nothing," she shook her head. It was so strange. A felt a sudden feeling of being stared at just now. It might be her who was too sensitive. People were rushing here and there on the street. Who would stare at a young girl like her?

"Let's wait here for a while. We'll enter the inn when both Da Huang and Aunt Hong are here."

Liu Yusheng nodded. The three of them had split up to check out the inns while she was left behind to watch the carriage. It was still early anyway, so they could go in together when they rejoined.

When the sun was a setting a bit westward, Da Huang and Wei Hong returned, both with drooping shoulders and lifeless.

"Young Master, you might really have to buy a private residence."

Qian Wanjin cheerfully took out the two plaques from his bosom and shook them in front of their eyes. "Did you say I, Young Master Qian, can't do anything out on my own? Come with me!"

"There's a room!" Da Huang's eyes brightened up, his exhaustion gone in an instant. "Young Master, you should have said so earlier. You still have to poke fun on us!"

Two people squeezing in a room was better than sleeping on the street at night.

The four of them walked into the inn, but before they could yell at the waiter to take them upstairs, the shopkeeper came running over apologetically.

"Guests, I'm sorry, I'm really sorry. The steward who stood at the counter didn't get it right. The remaining two rooms that had been booked and the occupants just didn't take their room numbers away yet. I'm sorry, it's our negligence."

"No, what do you mean?" Qian Wanjin was a bit dumbfounded and held up the room numbers. "Do you mean to tell me that these two rooms I have were already booked? Someone else reserved it, yet you rebooked them to me? Are you trying to fool me, afraid that I don't have the silver to pay?!"
