Chapter 151- Can’t Release This

"W-Who wants to know?! Don't say it if you don't want to!" Liu Yusheng said stubbornly.

The low, pleasant muffled laughter came into Liu Yusheng's ears from behind, making her flustered. She threw her hands up to run, but the man pulled her back from behind.

"Shengsheng, close your eyes."

"What for?!" She didn't dare to look back, so she feigned a tough stance.

Dry, warm palms then covered her eyes from behind and gathered her closer to him.

"Wait for me a moment." The voice sounded almost close to her ear. The close proximity flustered her so much that her whole body froze, and she dared not move.

"Hurry-Hurry up. If I wait too long, I can leave!"

No response.

There was no breath behind her, and listening to the side of her ear, she couldn't hear any movement.

Liu Yusheng's heart thumped doubtfully, but she didn't dare to open her eyes to look for him. "Hey, Feng Qingbai! What are you doing?"

"Did you leave? I'm warning you. If you dare trick me, I'm not done with you!"

"Feng Qingbai? What the hell are you doing? Ready or not?"

"I'll open my eyes! I'm really going to open my eyes!"

There was no response. Liu Yusheng was so angry and annoyed at him and at herself.

When he told her to close her eyes, she really closed them.

When he told her to wait for him, she really waited.

So obedient and spineless!

In the end, she simply bit her lip and sulked by herself.

She'd wait for him again. If he didn't come back, she would really leave.

...…

Just a minute more, five minutes, no, one minute! If he doesn't come back, I'll really go away and really, really ignore him!

...….

"Shengsheng." Liu Yusheng didn't know how many times she swore, but his familiar voice finally sounded behind her.

She swiveled around in fury, "Feng Qingbai, you…"

All her anger vanished in the next instant, and she lost her voice.

At the entrance to the inner courtyard, the ancient camphor tree was covered with palm-sized gauze lanterns, through which fluorescent light emitted a hazy glow.

In the middle of these haloes was a handmade moon-shaped lantern, dense and soft.

The night sky enveloped it, like a star that fell from the starry sky and landed in front of the eyes and within reach.

Beneath the starry sky, a tall and bright, handsome man stood gazing at her, his eyes focused and scorching.

Her figure occupied both his eyes and heart.

"Shengsheng, I can't pick the moon in the sky, so I'll make one for you," he came to her from under the stars and stood in front of her.

With gentle and loving eyes, he said, "Don't be angry, all right?"

At that moment, Liu Yusheng heard her heartbeat pounding, boom-boom-boom, so clear, so intense.

The feeling was so strange that it made her want to flee.

"You…" To cover up the strangeness, Liu Yusheng quickly averted her eyes. "When did you get these?"

"In the afternoon. I prepared it until now after you left. I made the moon lantern myself," after a pause, "So, have I coaxed you?"

Something in her heart quickly overflowed and filled the chambers to the brim.

Liu Yusheng's hands unconsciously strangled the hem of her shirt and mumbled awkwardly, "For the sake of your sincerity, I'll let you off the hook just this once. Just this once!"

The man smiled, his narrow slender eyes shining brightly. "Hmm, just this once."

Upon seeing this, Liu Yusheng took this opportunity to put forward some requests.

"Then you can't bully me again!"

"Okay."

"And don't lie to me!"

"Okay."

"Don't hide anything from me!"

"Okay."

Liu Yusheng felt finally satisfied. She relaxed all over, and her eyes shone with joy as she looked at the starry sky that surrounded the tree.

Did she forgive him too soon? No, she never truly blamed him in the first place.

On the other hand, Feng Qingbai stared at the girl, and the smile in his eyes grew brighter.

She didn't realize that she was back to the intimacy she had treated him with as a child, and acted unbridled and reckless in his presence.

Unobtrusively asking him anything she could think of.

She knew that he would spoil her.

Well, he was willing to spoil her.

"Shengsheng?"

"Huh?" The young woman's eyes were glued to the ancient camphor tree, and she didn't even spare him a glance.

"Let's release the stars."

"Release the stars?"

Feng Qingbai wrapped his long arms around the girl's slender waist and flew into the tree amidst the girl's screams.

The tip of his foot tapped the end of a branch and drifted around the canopy of the tree, and then he took the gauze lantern and handed it to Liu Yusheng.

"Here, take it. Then try it to release it."

Liu Yusheng took the lantern, looked at the man, and then carefully untied its binding.

But once the lantern was freed from its restrainins, it actually began to rise!

"Sky lantern!" Liu Yusheng exclaimed. Her eyes widened in excitement and she would have jumped for joy.

The little lantern drifted out of sight more and more distantly, as if she herself sent the star to the sky. That kind of feeling was wonderful.

She thought they were just ordinary lanterns, but she didn't expect him to take the trouble to create so many sky lanterns.

Feng Qingbai gazed at the young woman's smile. He basked in her joy, and moved again.

They took off lanterns one by one around the camphor tree, and he let her release them one by one into the night sky.

Their figures could be seen flying in the sky, stepping on the moonlight overhead, stepping on a tree shining with stars, and wandering in the sky.

The wind brought about by the romantic flying, brushed their cheeks and gently blew their hair into dancing and their robes fluttering.

From afar, they resembled immortals that landed in the moonlit sky, playing and dancing together.

Like two butterflies flying wing to wing. It was really heart-warming.

So shy, the moon and stars dimmed little by little.

When they had released all the small lanterns, Feng Qingbai landed in front of the moon-shaped lantern with the lady in his arms.

Before he could extend his hand, the lady quickly stretched her hands out and shielded the lantern, and looked at him vigilantly.

"Don't release this one. I want to keep it!"

He paused. His eyes became dark, and his voice deepened. "Why?"

"You made this yourself to coax me, so of course I'm keeping it!" She answered righteously.

Did this need a reason? She just liked to keep whatever he gave her and keep them well.

Even the pair of red hair ties he gave her when she was a child, she still has them intact and kept them in the bottom of her jewelry box.

Twelve years later, the colors were still vivid.

Only the halo of a hazy pale moon-shaped lantern remained from the tree of stars.

The faint glow of the lantern made his expression look a little blurry.

The eyes that gazed at her grew darker and darker, and a huge vortex seemed to be swirling at the bottom of his eyes, just waiting to roll up a storm at any moment.

The air suddenly fell deadly silent.

The silence was quite disconcerting.

"Feng Qingbai…" This kind of atmosphere made Liu Yusheng panic. She let go of the crescent moon, and subconsciously moved closer to the man.

Like a frightened cub, she subconsciously searched for the most trustworthy harbor.

Unbeknownst to her, the man's darkening eyes were on the verge of erupting into a frenzy.

"Shengsheng," His voice was so soft that it was close to a murmur. "I warned you, don't tempt me."

"Huh?" The lady looked up, confused and innocent.

She was indeed innocent.

She had no idea that every time she cherished him, every time she approached, all her subconscious trust and dependence was the deadliest provocation to the man who missed her!

He wanted to leave her alone.

Tonight, he only wanted to coax her back – to coax her out of her anger.

He didn't want to do anything else.

He really intended to leave her alone.

But, she was ignorant and provoked him!

You brought this on yourself, Shengsheng.
