Ghost

"We're home" I shouted softly at home. Mom came out of the kitchen. She greeted us with a smile and hugged us.

"You two are late" she asked us.

"We still went to the hospital" she looked at me in shock because of what I said.

"Are you ok baby?" She was worried about me.

"I'm fine mom. We just visited Sam" she hugged me and I could feel her deep breath.

"Have you eaten?" she asked Chadd after she hug me.

Chadd kissed mom's forehead and replied "Not yet" mom smiled because of what that.

"Lets eat" mom happily went to the kitchen first to get ready.

"I'll help mom. Go upstairs and get change" Chadd said to me. I was about to speak, but he raised an eyebrow at me, so I didn't argue anymore.

As he said I went up to my room and got dressed. I already wore pajamas. It's already night, it's time to go to bed after we eat.

When I went down to the living room I found them already sitting at the table. This is one of our rules at home wait for others before starting. When I sat down, my mother offered us to eat first.

We are also used to not eating out unless the three of us are together. We prefer to accompany the one left at home than we eat outside when we know someone is waiting for us.

After we ate, I would have put away what I ate when Chadd grabbed it again. Does he forget I'm a woman? I should be mom's helper in chores, why does he always claim it.

I just pouted and went back to my seat. I just looked at him. I noticed that he looked tired. He seems to be drowsy but his over-protection really drive him crazy, so he still insists that he still human too, he don't need to force himself. I frowned when I saw him yawn, so I had a reason to talk to him.

I hold his shoulder and I turned Chadd to me. He looked at me in shock. I touched both of his cheeks "You should sleep. Let me handle this" he raised an eyebrow at me. He would have returned to what he was doing when I hold him and confronted him "Chadd. Listen to me. You need to rest. You look tired. Even today just let me do something at home even just one chore"

He sighed and looked behind me. I also looked there and saw my mom smiling at us. She nodded, so I heard Chadd's sigh.

"Ok" I quickly turned to my gaze at him and happily hugged him "you're happy?" He asked me, so I nodded "silly" he messed up my hair when I let go of his hug.

Mom and I just stared at him. We looked at each other as Chadd disappeared from our sight. We smiled at the same time, and we even appeared. Mom hugged me and kissed me on the forehead.

I helped mom put away what we ate. I also cleaned the table. I also volunteer to do the dishes. Mom was easy to talk to, so she allowed me right away. She just had coffee on the side while watching me.

We climbed stairs together while hugging each other. She kissed me on the forehead before I entered my room. I lay down on the bed as soon as I entered. I suddenly fell sleepy so I fell asleep immediately.

I was startled to hear the thunder. I cant seen because of the darkness of my room. I can feel the heat too. As long as I remember, I did not turn off the light. I also hear the raining outside.

I sat on the corner of the bed and closed my eyes. I can feel my tears dripping. I took the pillow by my side and hugged it.

"Chadd" I said softly in the air. I dont even hear my own voice.

I was afraid of the dark. I'm scared. Dad disappeared because of me. Because I cant see. Because of me. Because those hours are dark like this with no lights. Because of me, dad disappeared.

I buried my head in the pillow and cried and cried. I also screamed because of the sounf of the thunder that startled me.

"Rey" I raised my head and I couldn't stop crying again "Shh. I'm here. I'm sorry" he hugged me and stroke my hair slowly to comfort me.

"C-Chadd" I call his name. I still can't help but ro cry. He knew that I'm so scared of the dark after that incident.

"Im here. Don't cry" I nodded at him and trying to calm myself little by little.

When he untied our hug the lights back to normal there is no dark anymore. He looked at me and smiled. There were still tears in my eyes, he wiped both my cheeks.

"Rey" we both looked at mom who was in a hurry to enter my room. She hugged me tightly.

"Mom" I hugged her too. She sat beside me. She smiled at me when she untied our hug.

I covered my ears when I heard a loud thunder. Chadd and mom hold my both hands, so I slowly lower them. They can comfort me without saying anything. Mom kiss my forehead trying to keep me calm.

"Maybe we lost power because of the rain and lightning" Chadd nodded at what mom said.

"Is there a typhoon?" I asked them.

"Yes" was my mom's short answer.

"Is our generator fine" Chadd asked mom.

"I didn't double check it. I was in hurry to come here" Chadd nodded and looked at me. He smiled when he saw me staring at him "You're fine" I nodded at him and smiled.

"I will stay here tonight. Is that ok sweetie?" We looked at mom at the same time.

"Yes, mom" I smiled at her.

"I will go and check the generator. Back to sleep ladies" Chadd kissed us on the forehead before leaving my room.

"Lets sleep" I nodded at what mom said. When we lay down, I immediately approached her and hugged her. She just smiled and held my hand that was hugging her.

I closed my eyes and let myself be eaten by darkness. I feel safe now. I have Chadd and my mom. I feel safe. I'm safe with them.

The past. That incident. I hope I just forgot what happened so that I don't have trouble like this. I also feel sorry for mom and Chadd who are worried about me.

I know the reason why I forgot my past except for that incident. Because it's my fault. I can't even remember the whole thing that happened that time but the rest of my memories say it's my fault.

It's my fault why we lost dad. So to this day I am haunted by the ghost of the past. So until now I was scared. So until now I carry the memory I want to forget.
