Chapter Forty-Seven: Goodnight Jackass

The jiggling of the door handle startled us, and I was mere seconds away from shitting myself. Luckily, I had locked the door and left the key in the keyhole, so it bought us a little time, but not much.

"Zany? You in there? Honey come open the door." he said through the wooden door.

"Shit, he can't see you here!" I whisper yelled to Anthony, who was looking awfully pale. He jumped into fight or flight mode and we started running around in circles like morons.

"Azania?" my dad called again. I couldn't bring myself to answer but it took me a few seconds to wonder if Jackass and I had lost our minds. I pulled his arm with the intention of dragging him to my room, but he stopped me. I turned to look at him with frantic eyes, but his eyes were darting all over the place.

"What?!" I whisper yelled at him.

"I need to get my shoes." He whisper yelled back.
