"Mr Matthews! Wow, you're actually on time today." Should I be offended that Cassie sounds surprised?

"I am known for surprising people. How are you doing Cas?" the silver haired woman smiled at me warmly, her eyes crinkling at the corners as a tell-tale of many years of laughter.

"I'm doing fine dear. I can't say the same about your wife, unfortunately. She had quite a rough night last night. The doctor had to sedate her in order for her to settle down and sleep." Her eyes shone with the same sympathetic look I had grown accustomed to ever since I started coming here.

With a heavy and defeated sigh, I ask to see her all the while trying to fight off the fatigue that had taken residence in my body. This last week has been absolute shit, to say the least. And it started that one fateful morning; the last time I was with her ...
