Chapter Sixty-Four: Email Exchange

It's a beautiful day in France, the sun is out with a ghost of a breeze that kisses my skin to cool it down. We are sunbathing in skimpy bikinis in the backyard of Lonwabo's villa in 16th arrondissement, sipping on chilled pastis, my new-found favourite beverage. Anathi, Ayanda's half-sister, is practicing on her cello on the veranda, filling the afternoon air with notes of classical strings and occasional vocals. My best friend is dosed off next to me, stupefied drunk on the mimosas she has been drinking since breakfast. My eyelids are heavy as my head swims with intoxication, promising to send me to lala land too. A ping from my phone jolts me awake, and a lazy grin stretches across my face when I peep the notification.
