Chapter Seventy-Eight: Secret Is Out

I can't hear anything past the loud ferocious beating that echoes in my ears. My eyes are peeled to the auditorium door, where the police have just escorted Principal Matthews out, in handcuffs. My Jackass. I don't understand. Even as people move around each other, trying to get through the exits to follow them, I am unable to move. I feel myself shaking like a leaf. My mouth keeps opening and closing as I try to grasp for words, anything that will help me comprehend what the hell just happened and why.

Ayanda is digging her nails in my forearm, seemingly trying to keep me upright. I am aware of her lips moving against my ear, but I hear nothing. The vice-principal is ushering everyone on stage towards the back exit, shouting commands to the other members of the faculty. I don't hear those either. All I hear is me. My panting.
