Chapter Eighty-Three: Long Time No See

My eyes open calmly at the shrill of the alarm clock next to my bed. I watch it ring, unbothered by the noise that cuts through the silence of the early evening air. The time flashes red in cadence to the beat, telling me my eyes have been closed for 4 hours. I say closed because I haven't been able to sleep. Not since I woke up from the hospital a week ago.

Not since it happened.

The time reads 19:00. It's time for the game. When I set the alarm earlier, I was kind of excited to watch it. Right now, I can think of a million other things I would rather watch than the Super16 Netball final because it is happening right now, and I am not there.
