Chapter Ninety-Four: Homecoming

"Are you sure you want to do this?" I can hear the apprehension in his voice, emphasizing the level of unease that has settled in the small confines of the red Ferrari. My breathing is loud and haggard in my ears, my palms moist with nervous sweat.

"No. But I don't want anymore lies." I manage to squeeze the words out my parched mouth. Anthony's face softens as he looks at me. It is taking me a little longer than usual to get accustomed to his close proximity. It has been so long since I have seen him, been with him. A part of me feels an unfamiliarity in our connection, almost as if I am having an out of body experience, watching a different Azania with a different Anthony.

He reaches for my hand nestled in my lap, grazing his thumb across my knuckles in soothing circular motions. "I can't even begin to explain how much I have missed you. I thought I had lost you forever."
