Chapter 101: Is This A Happy Ending?

"I thought you liked him!" my mom cackles, smacking my dad's forearm playfully.

"I mean, the lad plays some sickening rugby sure, but he was always such a douche. I used to pray for the scales on our daughter's eyes to fall off and see him for the prick he is, but I had to wait 3 full years." He says, surprising me as he shares a raucous laugh with my mom. Heat spreads to my cheeks as my parents laugh at my poor choice in men.

"Oh God, the day he got his Jeep, he got all dressed up and came to ask me to take her out for a spin. He was in corduroy slacks, Katherine. I almost screamed." My mom bursts out laughing, spitting some wine onto the hand she used to cover her mouth and starts to cough as the liquid goes down the wrong pipe. Dad leans over and pats her back as he too laughs, and it is all I can do but coo at the pair of them.
