Chapter 22: The Room At The End Of The Hallway

When Carla locked her room, she looked around. The room was decorated well, though it was a little childish, still, she is a child. And she loved it very much.

The room was painted with different shades of blue, as she told the maids her favorite color. Since it was blue, the maids painted the room with a theme of the night sky.

Added with a cartoon 'Stitch' designed bed. Beside it, on the left side was a simple wide space for her to play. All her toys though we're inside the toy chest box beside the blue cabinet.

On the ride side of the bed is the bookshelf that is attached to the wall full of children's books.

A little childish, yet simple and organized. She liked it so much.

When she was the same age in her past life, she was told she was also moved to the room next door to her parents' room. The last time she remembered was the room was painted full of pink with 'Hello Kitty' designs.

It seemed natural for her before as she grew up with it.

However, when Alicia grew up to be a schemer, Alicia urged her to move somewhere else and that she liked that room as it was pink.

Carla let go of that room as she didn't really care about it.

When she moved to the room at the end of the hallway, which too far from her parents' room, the room was supposed to design as also pink.

However, Alicia liked pink and she made a ruckus that Carla shouldn't copy her favorite color.

Carla felt wrong, it was the maid's idea to color the room pink, and she didn't do anything and let them be.

In the end, Carla had to 'apologize' to Alicia and changed the color to blue. Alicia told her to change it to blue as it looks like for boys.

Carla on the other hand knew that blue color was actually girls' color and pink was for boys. Though time changed and it didn't matter, so she didn't correct Alicia. She didn't want another headache because of the same issue.

Alicia sometimes teased her for the color of her, and Carla took it to her heart.

' It wasn't the color blue's fault, why would Alicia say something mean to the color blue? '

In the end, Carla liked blue as at first, she sympathizes with it as how Alicia slander the color blue. However, when Carla saw the other shades of blue, that's when she truly fell in love with it.

She ignored Alicia's bullying and bought things that had the same color as her new favorite color.

Alicia stopped bullying her about it, as it didn't work on Carla.

Unknowingly, because Carla liked to stay in her room as she was bullied inside and outside the house, she discovered something.

The room at the end of the hallway has a different purpose!

Carla walked towards the bookshelf. This bookshelf was attached to the wall and couldn't move. They all thought it was just the design of this room, but it was actually because this is a hidden door.

The bookshelf was painted silver-gray, but it doesn't matter as the lock wouldn't be seen easily.

Carla took a step forward and bent her knee. She took off all the books on the sixth right shelf. She put the books on the bed and went back as to not make it a hindrance.

On the sixth right shelf, she looked for a small pinky size bump using her hand. It couldn't be suspected easily as they would think that the woodsmanship of this shelf just wasn't great.

When she found it, she turned it slightly to the left then pressed it.

Click

The bookshelf was unlocked. She stood up and went beside it and pushed the right shelf to the left. It wasn't hard as even she, a two-year-old, can push it.

But, not really, Lucy honestly gave her strength. With that fluffy hands, what could it possibly push?

She went inside and closed the shelf.

In her past life, she moved to this room when she was seven, but found this secret passage door after two months of self-imprisonment.

Carla was a timid and easy girl before, but after learning this passage, she witnessed a lot of things and it slowly changed her.

Carla walked on the one-man-only passage alley until she reached the end. A single door.

She opened it and went in. Inside was just one chair and one table with a book above it.

That book contains the confidential history of the mansion.

This mansion was built by an influential wealthy foreigner. There was a war in his own country and had to flee with his family and extension family here.

Their family was a skilled country soldier and politician. Thus, they were also targeted by the enemy country.

When they built this mansion, they built a secret passageway for every room and emergency exits.

This book contains, their family information, family dirty secrets, the secrets of the country they were from, and about the passageways. The owner wrote this book as his last will.

The whole family got scattered in the end as their enemies found this mansion. However, nobody found this suspicious hidden compartment except Carla.

The mansion was taken by the government and bought by other people until Carla's family bought it.

As this room was at the end of the hallway, and the other secret passage doors were closed due to this room had locked it all. Nobody wanted to stay in this room as not only too far, but too creepy.

Carla was forced by Alicia to stay here and made it Carla's new room. It was a mistake of Alicia without knowing.

As the book on the table was thick, before, it took months for Carla to understand it, broaden her mind, and had an adventurous life through these doors.

The reason why she also neglected her younger brother and let him be bullied by Alicia as Alicia couldn't find her at that time. She regretted not inviting her younger brother to her expedition in these passageways.

The room had five doors inside that leads to other places. In her past life, it took her years to memorize it.

Now, she didn't need the book anymore, but still had to safe keep it as it had confidential files.

"Lucy, keep thish book and put it on the cave pleash. Thank yoo." Carla told Lucy who was in her head watching her.

Lucy, then, ate the thick book.
