Maze in the mirror

Shoto had woken up approximately 30 minutes ago, for the last half an hour he had been dealing with a certain issue caused by his dreams. He was quite appalled that his mind was capable of such things. To think he had that sort of dream involving a stranger, he couldn't comprehend it. Despite the amount he wanted to prevent his mind from wandering back to his dream he couldn't. Every detail about how that boy looked and acted reminded him of someone, but who? Who did he know that had fluffy green hair, cute freckles, perfect teeth, bright red blush, and a warm smile that made him feel safe and happy? Shoto racked his brain, searching for answers, but nothing came up, again. He felt quite hopeless as he turned the tap off causing the waterfall to cease and become but a mere memory, dragging his limp body out of the shower, water cascading down his face from his hair, he dried himself off and wore the appropriate attire for training.

Training with Enji was always unpleasant, the hero would force the boy to go beyond his limit often causing frostbite or burns. Along with that he always found one or the other reason to hurt Shoto himself, from scratches to burns to bruises, he had injured the boy in every way possible yet somehow always found something new. It never mattered to either. To Enji he was pushing the boy to improvement, and to Shoto, he couldn't feel any of it so nothing mattered. Shoto was snapped out of his thought by several loud thuds followed by yelling. "You should have already started, get to work you lazy slug!", no matter how often he heard things like this it always hurt.

For the first time since he was a child, Shoto was able to feel all the pain induced from the abuse, it hurt like fuck. He dragged his limp body to rest against the wall clutching his side. He sat picturing the boy from before, trying to regain his breath. His head pounded in pain, he felt as if he would puke any second, his chest felt heavy and tight, his ankle felt as if it would snap, his knees were shaking, and he could barely breathe. This would always happen but he never knew it would hurt this bad. His father was cruel and cunning, hurting, inflicting pain, and destroying anything that dared cross his path, similar to the attitude of a venus fly trap, consuming anything and everything no matter how innocent and small. He despised his family, everyone would hurt him again and again with no end.

His brothers both left

His sister was to busy for him

His mother gave him the scar over his eye and left

And together they gave him the scar over his heart, a scar that could never heal

But his father was the one he resented the most, he caused everything, changed the people he called family, and pushed away the ones he called friends.

A piercing scream filled the darkroom followed by several similar sounds. He hated it, he'd never asked for this life, he'd never even asked for a life, why couldn't it be different? Why couldn't he just be happy? At least for some time, he wanted things to be different. To not have training, expectations, pressure, family, people who would use him, to have nothing but that one person. He wanted him back not caring if it was greedy, he wanted his happiness back.

Flashback

Shoto's mom had just finished cleaning up his wounds after training. The boy had ran out into the street stomping in puddles despite his mother's warnings to ensure that his bandages don't get wet. He couldn't bother about that he had a chance to have fun and play for once! He only wished his siblings could join but they were busy. He had spotted a park and decided to go since he had never been to one. The various contraption amused the boy keeping him busy for at least an hour.

The had been playing for quite some time now but was starting to lose energy, panting he went and sat under a nearby tree playing with the leaves. The beautiful melody of a person singing filled the child's ears as he looked up to see a small boy with fluffy looking green hair that matched his emerald eyes, and many cute freckles. He was caught off guard when the boy began walking toward him, once he had come face to face with him he extended his arm which held a small All might themed umbrella. "Are you okay? How come you don't have an umbrella?", he questioned concern filling his voice. "I'm alright I just forgot my umbrella", he replied not fully focused since his attention was on the boy in front of him.

"But you have so many bandages"

"I just fall a lot", he knew lying was wrong but he had to, if he had told the truth then he'd be beaten

"Oh, yeah that happens to me a lot too", he muttered sitting down

"Anyway I'm Izuku Midoriya, it's nice to meet you!", he spoke a large grin taking over his face

"I'm Shoto Todoroki, it's nice to meet you too", he said a small smile making its way onto his lips

End of flashback

Fuyumi walked into the room seeing Shoto sitting on the ground with a hand over his side. She carefully approached the sleeping boy and removed his hand to reveal a large stab wound. She gasped shocked and ran out of the room to get medicine and bandages.

Once she had come back she began cleaning the wound finishing rather quickly, it was unfortunately common for Shoto to leave his wounds unattended to, so when the boy would sleep she always made sure to clean the wounds and place bandages. Her frown deepened thinking about how she could get him to his bed, she didn't think she was physically capable of carrying him, and asking their father was out of the question. She decided to instead leave him there and get him a blanket, moving him could further injure him anyway.

She carefully laid the blanket on him smiling softly, it had been a while since she got to tuck him in.
