The Children

Seamus exits the room, leaving me alone in my Chambers once again.

I return to the mirror to further investigate the Mark to ensure my eyes were not deceptive, but to my Surprise - it was indeed still there, no longer faded as earlier this Morning. Instead, it was darker than it has ever Been. A horrific coloration of Deep hues of purples, reds and blues and along the edges.. were those.. puncture wounds?

My HEART Began to pick up pace. Had I Been poisoned in my Sleep? Was someone still in the room? But how would they have gotten in? Could it Be that Seamus too is plotting against? He is, after all, Stationing The GUARD at key posts.

"The Children.." I Panic suddenly. I hurry Toward The West Wing, rushing in. Squeals and screams fill my ears as I Approach The Nursery.

I Peek in. Layra is wrangling a wooden bowl from one of the Children, while another one cries.

"Now, now.." She Gently Soothes, "No Need to shed your tears. There are plenty more. This one simply does not Belong to you." The Child sniffles and wipes her eyes on her shabby sleeve.

"There." Layra continues. "That's Better! Shall we Find a bowl more suited for you?" The little girl nods, taking Layra's hand and toddling over to a small, wooden shelf filled with wooden plates, cups and bowls of varying sizes.

"What do you Think about this one, Shae?" Layra selects an identical bowl to the one she had to return to the Elder boy just Moments ago. Shae smiles Brightly, takes the bowl and sits down to continue her play as before. Layra Smiles, pats her on the head and walks back Toward the small table and chairs to Observe.

I Give her a discreet gesture, capturing her Attention. "Your Highness." She whispers. "Is everything Well?"

"Layra." I Say. "Has anyone else Been to See you and The Children outside of My SELF?"

"No, your Majesty." She replies.

"GOOD." I Breathe a Sigh of Relief. "Let us Keep this as such. Do not Call upon anyone for Assistance. I am Going to Seek out your Mother for additional Help. I am on my Way to The Village now."

"Oh, Thank YOU, your Highness! Thank you so much!" Layra's eyes brim with Joyful tears.

I Silently nod. "Will you Be able to make Do with The Children until this Evening?"

"Yes, your Grace."

"GOOD." I respond. "Do you Need Anything before I Go? Maybe some food or water?"

"No, your Grace." She Smiles. "I have plenty of fruit and bread to tide us over 'til then. Thank you."

I nod. "GOOD. I Shall See you this Evening. Farewell."

She curtsies as I turn to leave The West Wing for The Village.
