In the Morgue Daytime, Sarah, Sam and Dean , wearing suits, hold up FBI badges and Dean says "Agents Page, Plant and Jones FBI." Doctor asks "Gentlemen and Lady,What brings you by?" Sam says "We need to see Amber Freer's body." Doctor asks "Really? What for?" Sarah says "The police report said something clawed through her skull?" Doctor asks "You didn't read the autopsy report that I emailed out this morning?" Sam says "W-we had, uh, server issues." The Doctor walks away, the three of them follows him and the Doctor opens one of the freezers and pulls out the slab with Amber's body and he tosses back the sheet from her head "When they brought her in, we thought she was attacked by a wolf or something." Dean asks "Or Something?" Doctor says "But we were wrong." The Doctor picks up a plastic bag from the slab and shows it to Sarah, Dean and Sam.
Sam asks "Is that a—" Doctor says "It's a press-on nail. We found it in her temporal lobe." Sarah asks "Is that even possible?" Dean says "Wait, are you—you saying that she did this to herself?" Doctor says "Uh-huh. She scratched her brains out. It'd take hours, and it'd hurt like hell, but sure—it's possible." Dean asks "How?" Doctor says "Pick your acronym—OCD, PCP. It all spells crazy." Sam pulls back the sheet a little further Amber's right hand has four press-on nails still attached; the middle finger has nothing "My guess, some kind of phantom itch. I mean, an extreme case, but..." Sam says "Phantom itch?" Doctor says "Yup." The Doctor covers Amber's head and slides the slab back into the freezer, closing the door "All it takes is someone talking about an itch—or thinking about one, even—and suddenly you can't stop scratching." Sarah says "Thanks, doc." Sam scratches under his collar, Sarah scratches her neck and Dean scratches his ear.
Inside Jimmy's House Living Room, Daytime Sam is sitting in the armchair in Jimmy's 's family's living room, holding a notebook and pen, and Jimmy's father and Francine are sitting on the sofa, Sarah is sitting on the other chair and Dean is wandering around behind them, Sam says "Okay. Okay, now, some of these questions might seem a bit odd, but please just bear with me, Have you noticed any cold spots in the house?" Jimmy's Father says "Uh...no." Sam asks "Okay, uh, what about strange smells?" Dean looks around a corner, Jimmy is there "Whatcha lookin' for?" Dean says "Don't know yet." Dean walks up to Jimmy "It's, uh, Jimmy, right?" Jimmy nods "So, Amber was your babysitter?" Jimmy says "Yes, sir." Dean says "Yeah, most of my babysitters sucked, Especially Ms. Chancey. She only cared about two things Dynasty and bedtime. Dean chuckles "Did you, uh, you see anything strange that night?" Jimmy says "No, sir." Dean asks "You sure about that?"
Jimmy says "I—I would tell you if I knew something." Dean looks at him "I promise, One hundred percent. Cross my heart." Dean looks back over his shoulder, then back at Jimmy "Well, Jimmy, I, uh...I happen to know you're lying." Jimmy says "I'm not." Dean leans down and puts a hand on Jimmy's shoulder "We gonna start talking truth, or are you and me gonna have to take a little trip downtown?" Outside of the House, Sarah, Dean and Sam are leaving and Dean holds up a packet of itching powder "Kid said he put this on the babysitter's hairbrush." Sam says "Dean, there's no way—itching powder made that girl scratch her brains out. It's just ground-up maple seeds, If you have any other theories, I'm open to 'em." A cell phone rings, Sam pulls his out and answers it Dean opens the Impala's driver's door and Sarah opens the back passenger door Sam says "Yeah? ...Yeah, we'll be right there." Sam goes around behind the car, Dean and Sarah gets in the car and closes the door.
In the Hospital Room Daytime, A nurse zips up a body bag and he and another Nurseroll it out of the room while the Doctor watches from the corridor Sarah, Sam and Dean come up behind him and Sam asks "What happened?" Doctor says "Guy got electrocuted." Dean asks "Any idea how?" Doctor says "Eh, maybe a loose wire or a piece of equipment shorted out. So far, we haven't found anything." Sarah asks "Witnesses?" Doctor says "Yeah, guy in there—Mr. Stanley." Stanley is an old man sitting in a chair in the room, looking out the window "He says he saw it, but he's not making a lick of sense. Senile." Sam says "Thanks." Sarah, Sam and Dean enter the room. The Doctor leaves "Um, Mr. Stanley?" Mr Stanley says "It was just a joke, I didn't know it would really work." Dean asks "What would work?" Stanley looks at Dean "All I did was shake his hand." Stanley holds out his hand: he's holding a joy buzzer. Sam, Sarah and Dean look at it and each other.
Inside the Motel Room Daytime, Dean puts on a pair of goggles and a pair of gloves. He adjusts the goggles and picks up the joy buzzer and he looks at the joy buzzer for a moment, then turns to Sam and Sarah "You both ready?" Sam says "Hit it, Mr. Wizard." Sarah and Sam holds another pair of goggles to their eyes, There is a large uncooked ham in two stacked aluminum-foil pans sitting on the table in front of Dean and he holds the joy buzzer over the ham, hesitates, and presses it to the ham. Electricity crackles, Steam rises from the ham as it changes color. When the ham is blackened, Dean removes the joy buzzer. The ham sizzles Sarah and Sam lowers the goggles and gawks. Dean flips up the dark-plastic visor on the goggles "That'll do, pig." Sam says "What the hell?"
Dean takes off the goggles, still staring at the now-cooked ham, Sarah says "That crap isn't supposed to work." Dean says "This thing doesn't even have batteries." Dean has taken off one glove and now removes the other, Sam asks "So...so, what? Are—are we looking at cursed objects?" Dean says "Sounds good." Dean pulls out a knife, flips it open, and cuts a piece off the ham "Maybe there's a powerful witch in town." Dean eats the piece of ham "Is there any link between the, uh, the joy buzzer and the itching powder?" Sarah says "Uh, one was made in China, the other Mexico, but they were both bought from the same store." Dean cuts off another piece of ham "Hmm." Dean holds up the piece of ham, Sarah and Sam shakes their heads and Dean eats the ham.
Inside the Conjurarium Daytime, Sarah, Dean and Sam walk up and the door chimes when they walk in. Someone laughs and the door chimes again. Dean, Sarah and Sam walk around, Dean says "Sam,Sarah." Dean picks up a whoopee cushion and holds it up, grinning Sarah grins as well but Sam sighs and shakes his head, turning away. Dean brings the whoopee cushion up to the checkout counter, which has a display of rubber chickens next to it. The Owner comes out of the back room "Welcome to the Conjurarium, sanctum of magic and mystery." Sam comes up to the counter "You the owner?" Owner says "Yep." Dean asks "You sold any itching powder or joy buzzers lately?" Owner says "Yeah, a grand total of one of each. They aren't exactly big-ticket items. Look, you boys and girl here to buy something or what?" Dean pulls some cash out of his wallet, holds up the whoopee cushion, and hands the Owner the cash.
Sarah asks "So, you get many customers?" Owner says "Kids come in. They don't buy much, but they're more than happy to break stuff. These days, all they care about are their iPhones and those kissing-vampire movies. The whole thing makes me just—" Dean says "Angry?" The Owner pauses, then nods "Yeah, Yeah I am angry. This shop has been my life for twenty years, and now it's wasting away to nothing." Dean says "Which is why you hate them." Owner says "I suppose." Dean says "You wish there was something you could do about it."
Owner says "Yeah, I guess I do." Dean says "So you're taking revenge." Dean pulls a rubber chicken off the display and slaps it down on the counter "With this." Dean holds up the joy buzzer and presses it to the rubber chicken, Electricity crackles. The Owner yelps and leaps back "Oh! No!" The rubber chicken melts and the owner stares, making inarticulate noises. Dean, Sarah and Sam watch the Owner and Sam says "Yeah, something tells me this guy is not a powerful witch." Dean says "Sorry. Sorry." Dean, Sarah and Sam leave the store.
Inside Girl's Bedroom nighttime, A girl's father holds up a baby tooth to show the Girl , who is sitting in bed "I'll just slip this tooth under your pillow, and while you're asleep, the tooth fairy will float down and swap it out for a quarter." The Girl says "So some freak is gonna come in my room while I'm sleeping and take my tooth? Sounds scary. No, thank you." Her dad says "Come on." The Father stands up and fusses with the Girl's pillow, The Girl lies back and the Father tucks her in, then gives her a kiss "Good night, sweetie." The Father turns off the light as he leaves and the girl shifts position. She sneaks into her Father's room , tooth in hand, hides it under his pillow, and sneaks out. He doesn't notice. He rolls over. A long pause and a hand covers the Father, He startles awake a man is standing there, wearing a pink tutu and sparkly wings: it's the Tooth Fairy "Shh! Hold still. You might feel just a little...pinch." The tooth fairy reaches into the Father's mouth with a pair of pliers. The Father tries to scream and the tooth fairy pulls out a tooth.
Hospital Daytime, The Girl's Father is lying in a hospital bed and a nurse offers him a glass with a straw and he waves it away, Sam and Sarah is in the room with a notebook and pen; then they leave Dean is in the corridor, talking to another Nurse Jen Fermont and Sarah says "Well, I, uh, appreciate that, Nurse...Fermont." She leaves, Sam and Sarah joins Dean and he asks "What's up with Toothless? Cavity creeps get ahold of him?" Sam says "Yeah, Close he wrote up a description and he says "Five foot ten, three hundred fifty pounds, wings, and a pink tutu. Said it was the tooth fairy." Dean says "So he's obviously whacked out on painkillers." Sam says "Maybe, Whatever it was got past locked doors and windows without triggering the alarm." Dean says "Come on. Tooth fairy?" Sam says "And it left thirty-two quarters underneath his pillow. One for each tooth." Sarah nods and Dean says "Well, I will see your crazy and raise you some. There's a couple of kids upstairs with stomach ulcers—say they got it from mixing Pop Rocks and Coke. Another guy...his face...froze that way." Sarah asks "What way?" Dean looks in all directions, then pulls out the sides of his mouth and crosses his eyes and he holds it for a moment and lets go.
Dean says "He, uh, held it too long, and it—it stuck. They're flying in a plastic surgeon." Dean pokes at his cheeks and wiggles his chin and Sam says "So, I mean, if you add all that up..." Sam hesitates, Dean and Sarah raises their eyebrows "I got nothing." Sam and Sarah starts down the hallway past Dean, who turns around to walk alongside them and says "I thought sea-monkeys were real." Sam says "They are and they're brine shrimp." Dean says "No, no, no, I mean like in the ads. You know, like the sea-monkey wife cooks the pot roast for the sea-monkey husband, and the sea-monkey kids play with the dog in a sea-monkey castle—real. I mean, I was six, but I believed it."
Sarah says "Okay." Dean says "Point is." Dean stops, Sarah and Sam stops and turns "Maybe that's the connection The tooth fairy, the Pop Rocks and Coke, the joy buzzer that shocks you—they're all lies that kids believe." Sarah says "And now they're coming true. Okay, so whatever's doing this is—is reshaping reality and It has the powers of a god, Or—." Sarah and Sam rolls their eyes and Sam says "—of a trickster." Dean says "Yeah, with the sense of humor of a nine-year-old." Sarah says "Or you." Sarah and Sam walks off and Dean follows.
In the Motel Daytime, Dean sits at the table and takes another bite from a sandwich, Sarah is sitting on the other chair and the remnants of the cooked ham sit on the table. The door opens and Sam comes in, holding a map and Dean and Sarah looks up. Sam says "Dude, seriously—still with the ham?" Dean talking with his mouth full says "We don't have a fridge." Sam closes the door and puts the map down in front of Dean and Sarah. Sam says "Well, I found something." They both stand up for a better view, Sam points to a red X on the map for every incident "Um, tooth fairy attack was here, Pop Rocks and Coke was here, then you've got itching powder, face freeze, and joy buzzer—all located within a two-mile radius." Sam indicates the area containing all the red X's and Dean says "So, we got a blast zone of weird, and inside, fantasy becomes reality." Sam says "Looks like."
Sarah says "And what's the A-bomb at its center?" Sam says "Four acres of farmland...and a house." Dean asks "Our motel isn't in that circle, by any chance?" Sam says "Yeah, Why?" Dean hesitates, then holds up his right hand: the palm is covered in hair. Sam and Sarah looks away, closing their eyes and Sarah says "Ugh, Babes---." They Both sighs "That's not what I think it is, is it?" Dean says "I got bored and you wasn't in the mood." Dean grins and Sam says "You know you can go blind from that, too." Dean says "Give me five minutes, We'll go check out that house." Dean walks around Sarah and Sam, He asks Dean "Hey, do not use my razor!" Dean smirks.
Jessie's House, Farmhouse Daytime A mail truck drives past the house and past the Impala, which pulls up and parks Dean, Sarah and Sam, wearing suits, get out and cross the street, walking up to the house. Dean checks Ruby's knife, which is tucked into his belt. Sam bends down to pick the lock, but straightens up in a hurry when the door opens a boy Jesse, "Can I help you?" Sam says "Hi. Uh, what's your name?" Jesse asks "Who wants to know?" Sarah, Sam and Dean glance at each other "The, uh... Dean clears his throat and pulls out his badge, showing it to Jesse while Sarah and Sam goes for their badges. "FBI." Sam and Sarah holds up his badge Jesse takes Dean's and says "Let me see that." Jesse examines Dean's badge and hands it back Sarah and Sam puts their away "So, what, you guys don't knock?" Sarah asks "Are your parents home?"
Jesse says "They work." Sam asks "Well, you mind if we ask you a few questions, maybe take a look around the house?" Jesse says " I don't know." Dean says "Come on, You can trust us. We're the authorities." Dean holds up his badge again,Jesse is unimpressed. He glances between the three of them Sarah, Sam and Dean try to smile reassuringly.
Inside the Kitchen Daytime, A pot of soup is boiling on the stove and Jesse goes up to it and turns it off the three of them follow him into the kitchen, looking around and Dean hangs back Sam asks "What's that?" Jesse says "It's called soup Jesse takes the pot off the stove "You heat it up and you eat it." Sam chuckles "Right. I, I know. It's just, um...I used to make my own dinner, too, when I was a kid." Jesse says "Well, I'm not a kid." Dean notices the artwork on the fridge and Sam says "Right. No, I, I know. Um..." Sam holds out a hand, "I'm Robert, by the way."Jesse shakes Sam's hand and says "Jesse." Sam says "Jesse, nice to meet you." Dean steps closer, holding a picture of a bearded man with pink wings and tutu asks "Did you draw this?" Jesse nods "It's the tooth fairy." Dean asks "That's what you think the tooth fairy looks like, huh?" Jesse says "Yeah. My dad told me about him."Dean glances at Sarah and Sam and Dean says "Huh."
Jesse asks "What, didn't your dad tell you about the tooth fairy?" Dean says "My Dad?" Dean chuckles "My dad told me different stories." Jesse says "Well, the tooth fairy isn't a story, What do you know about itching powder, Jesse?" Jesse says "That stuff will make you scratch your brains out." Sarah asks "Pop Rocks and Coke?" Jesse says "You mix them, and you'll end up in the hospital. Everyone knows that." Dean pulls the joy buzzer out of his pocket and holds it up "You shouldn't have that." Dean asks "Why not?" Jesse says "It can electrocute you." Dean says "Actually, it can't. It's just a wind-up toy. It's totally harmless. Doesn't even have batteries." Jesse So it can't shock you?" Dean says "Nope. Not at all. I swear." Jesse says "Oh. Okay." Dean says "I mean, all it does is just shake in your hand. It's kind of lame. See?" Dean presses the joy buzzer to Sam's chest and it buzzes, Sam stiffens up and turns to Dean looking murderous "What did you say your name was, again?"
Outside Jesse's house Daytime, Sam, Sarah and Dean leaves Jesse's house and Sam says "Dude, what the hell?" Dean says "I had a hunch. I went with it." Sam says "You risked my ass on a hunch?" Dean says "You're fine." Sam says "Besides, now we know who's turning this town into Willy Wonka's worst nightmare." Sarah says "The Kid." Sam stops walking; so does Dean and Sarah and Dean says "Yeah, Everything Jesse believes comes true. He thinks the tooth fairy looks like Belushi, uh, joy buzzers really shock people, boom, that's what happens." Sam says "Yeah, but convince him the joy buzzers don't actually work, and they go from killing machines back into crap toys." Sarah says "He probably doesn't even know he's doing it." The three of them look back at the house. The curtains on an upstairs window part and Jesse looks out at them, Dean waves and asks "How is he doing it?" The three of them walks away and Jesse watches them go.
Inside the Motel Daytime, Dean still in his suit though without the jacket, sits in bed, reading something that isn't John's journal and Sarah is drinking a can of fizzy and the door opens, Dean looks up and Sam still in his suit and jacket, closes the door "So, dug up what I could on Jesse Turner but It's not much. Uh, B student, won last year's Pinewood Derby but get this, Jesse was adopted and his birth records are sealed." Dean says "So you unsealed them, and?" Sam says "There's no father listed, but Jesse's biological mom is named Julia Wright. She lives in Elk Creek, on the other side of the state." Dean closes his book and throws it down on the bed.
Inside a Rundown House Daytime, A sign reading "NO TRESPASSING" hangs on the gate of a rusty, overgrown fence. Dean pushes the gate open and walks through, Sam and Sarah right behind. Elk Creek, Nebraska, Sarah, Sam and Dean walk around to the front door, which has two deadbolts. Dean rings the doorbell, Julia, speaks without opening the door "Whatever you're selling, I'm not interested." Dean looks at Sarah and Sam and says "We're not salesmen, Agent Page, Jones and Plant, FBI." The three of them pull out their badges and hold them up to the peephole "Put your badge in the slot and both your partners as well." Dean obeysA pause while the locks clatter. The door opens and Julia hands back the badges "What do you want?" Sam says "Um..." Sarah, Sam and Dean put their badges away Sam says "We just had a few questions, About your son." Julia says "I don't have a son." Sarah says "He was born March twenty-ninth, nineteen ninety-eight, in Omaha."
Julia looks up, face expressionless "You put him up for adoption?" Julia asks "What about him?" Sam asks "We were just wondering, um, was it...was it a normal pregnancy?" Julia says nothing, Dean asks "Was there anything strange?" Julia slams the door "Stay away from me!" Dean says "Mrs. Wright, wait!" Dean pushes the door open and he, Sarah and Sam Julia inside, she runs to the kitchen and shuts the door, but quickly realizes she can't hold it shut against two large men and a woman and retreats. Dean pushes the door open "We just want to talk!" Julia grabs a canister of table salt, wrenches it open, and tosses the contents at Sarah, Sam and Dean When it hits them, nothing happens Julia stares; this isn't what she expected. Dean, Sam and Sarah stare back "You're not demons?" Sarah asks "How do you know about demons?"
Julia's Past, Dining Room Daytime, Julia sits at the table with a cup of tea she sets the cup on a saucer and folds her arms "I was possessed. A demon took control of my body, and I hurt people. I killed people." Sarah, Sam and Dean are sitting across from Julia Sam says "That, that wasn't you." Julia says "But I was there and I heard a woman beg for mercy. I...felt a young girl's blood drip down my hands." Dean says "That's how you knew about the salt." Julia says "Yeah, I picked up tricks. It was in my head for months." Sarah asks "How many months?" Julia says "Nine." Sam says "So your son..." Julia says "Yeah, the whole time. The pregnancy, birth—all of it. I was possessed."
Inside an Empty Room, Nighttime, Past Julia, heavily pregnant, lies on the floor, screaming and Julia narrates the flashback in voiceover, with cuts back to the present day "The night the baby was born, I was alone and the pain was—the pain was overwhelming. I, I screamed, and it came out a laugh, because the demon was happy. It used my body to give birth to a child. When it was over, something changed. Maybe the—the demon was tired or if the pain helped me fight it, but..." Past-Julia has demon-black eyes "Somehow, I took control. Past-Julia squeezes her eyes shut and opens them: they're human, She pants, exhausted "And the demon wailed inside me, It pounded against my skull and I thought my head was gonna explode. But I knew, I knew what I had to do. Past-Julia grabs fistfuls out of a bag of road salt and pours it down her throat. Black smoke rushes out of her "And when I was alone with the baby... A baby cries, "A part of me...part of me wanted to kill it."
Inside the Dining Room, The Flashback is over and Julia says "But, God help me, I couldn't do that. So, I put it up for adoption, and I ran." Dean asks "Who was the father?" Julia says "I was a virgin." Dean, Sarah and Sam look at each other "Have you seen my son? Is he human?" Dean says "His name's Jesse He lives in, uh, Alliance and He's a good kid." Julia nods, Outside Julia's House, Sam, Sarah and Dean leave and Sam asks "So, now what?" Dean says "We need help."
Motel Room, Sarah, Sam and Dean enters the motel room. They both look up: Castiel is waiting for them "I take it you got our message." Sam sits at the table, Sarah sits on the chair next to Sam and Dean closes the door "It's lucky you found the boy." Dean says "Oh, yeah, real lucky. What do we do with him?" Castiel says "Kill him." Sam pauses in the middle of loosening his tie. He, Sarah and Dean stare at Castiel, he stares back and Dean says "Cas." Castiel says "This child is half demon and half human, but it's far more powerful than either. Other cultures call this hybrid cambion or katako. You know him as the antichrist."
Castiel sits at the table fart noises, The noises continue as Castiel shifts position. Dean watches, raising his eyebrows "That wasn't me." Castiel pulls out a whoopee cushion, presumably the one Dean brought earlier, Dean asks "Who put that there?" Sarah says "Anyway, I don't get it Jesse is the devil's son?" Castiel sighs No, of course not. Your Bible gets more wrong than it does right, The antichrist is not Lucifer's child It's just demon spawn. But it is one of the devil's greatest weapons in the war against heaven." Dean says "Well, if Jesse's a demonic howitzer, then what the hell's he doing in Nebraska?" Castiel says "The demons lost him, They can't find him but they're looking." Dean asks "And they lost him because?" Castiel says "Because of the child's power. It hides him from both angels and demons. For now." Sarah says "So he's got, like, a force field around him. Well, that's great. Problem solved."
Castiel says "With Lucifer risen, this child grows strong. Soon, he will do more than just make a few toys come to life—something that will draw the demons to him. The demons will find this child. Lucifer will twist this boy to his purpose and then, with a word, this child will destroy the Host of Heaven." Dean says "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait. You're saying that—that Jesse's gonna nuke the angels?" Castiel says "We cannot allow that to happen." Sam says "Wait. He stands up "We're the good guys. We—we don't just—kill children." Castiel says "A year ago, you would have done whatever it took to win this war." Sam says "Things Change." Dean steps forward, putting a hand on Sam's arm and putting himself between Sam and Castiel, He says "Okay. Hey, look, we are not going to kill him. All right? But we can't leave Jesse here either. We know that. So...we take him to Bobby's. He'll know what to do."
Castiel says "You'll kidnap him? What is going on in this town, it's what happens when this thing is happy. You cannot imagine what it will do if it's angry. Besides, how will you hold him? With a thought, he could be halfway around the world." Dean says "So we---." Sarah says "So we tell him the truth. You say Jesse's destined to go dark side—fine. But he hasn't yet. So if we lay it all out for him—what he is, the apocalypse, everything—he might make the right choice." A long pause then Castiel says "You didn't and I can't take that chance." Sam glares, Castiel vanishes and Sam sighs, He says "Damn it."
Julia's House Nighttime Julia walks up to her door, then unlocks each of the locks. A mailman walks up behind her and she turns around and gasps, startled "Oh. Sorry. I'm sorry." Mailman says "It's—it's no worries. You okay?" Julia says "Yeah. It's just today—a little...shaky." Mailman says "Ah. Well, talking to the Winchesters and Moore will do that to you." Julia's expression changes: no one should know that the mailman steps forward, pressing Julia against the door "Don't you recognize me, sweetheart?" The Mailman's eyes go black: this is a Demon, presumably the same one that once possessed Julia.
Demon says "We had some great times together, didn't we? And then you stole something from us, hid it away. That was very, very naughty of you so we watched, and we waited and now ...they told you where he is, didn't they? I think it's time we go and visit our son." The Demon holds Julia's mouth open. Black smoke pours out of the Mailman's mouth into Julia's while the Mailman leans forward as if for a kiss. When the last of the black smoke is out of the Mailman he drops like a stone. Julia's eyes go black, and the Demon walks forward.
Inside Jesse's House nighttime, Living Room Jesse gets a cup of water from a five-gallon jug Castiel appears, Jesse backs away, dropping the glass, which smashes "Don't be afraid. I won't hurt you." Castiel advances, Ruby's knife held behind his back and Jesse continues to back away." Jesse says "Mom, Dad!" Castiel says "Your mother and father are sleeping. I assure you, they won't wake until morning." Jesse breaths hard, "I'm sorry." Castiel raises the knife. Dean and Sam kick in the front door and Sarah joins them, Jesse stares at them and Dean asks "Was there a guy here? In a trench coat?" Jesse points at the floor: there is an action figure wearing Castiel's suit and trench coat and holding a silver knife. Dean kneels to pick him up and looks up at Sam, Sarah and then Jesse.
Dean sets the Castiel action figure on the mantelpiece Jesse is sitting on the couch, Sam on a chair and Sarah on another chair and Jesse asks "Was he your friend?" Dean says "Him? No." Jesse asks "I did that. But how did I do that?" Dean says "You're a superhero." Jesse asks "I am?" Sarah says "Yeah. Yeah. I mean, who else could turn someone into a toy? You're Superman—minus the cape and the go-go boots. See, my—my partner and I, we work for a secret government agency. It's our job to find kids with special powers. In fact, we're here to take you to a hidden base in South Dakota, where you'll be trained to fight evil." Jesse asks "Like the X-Men?" Dean says "Exactly like the X-Men." Dean chuckles, In fact, the, uh, guy we're taking you to—he's even in a wheelchair. You'll be a hero. You'll save lives. You'll get the girl. Sounds like fun, right?" Dean is flung against the wall the demon possessing Julia walks in "They're lying to you." Sam and Sarah stands up, Demon throws Sarah across the room and she hits her head and is unconscious and Sam flings him against the wall with Dean, Jesse stands up "Stay right there, dreamboat. Can't hurt you. Orders. You, on the other hand? Hurting you's encouraged."
The Demon flicks her wrist and slams Dean against the opposite wall, then back "No! Uh!" Jesse says "Leave him alone!" The Demon leans down to Jesse, speaking sweetly "Jesse, You're beautiful and you have your father's eyes." Jesse asks "Who are you?" Demon says "I'm your mother." Jesse says "No, you're not." Demon says "Mm-hm. You're half human...half one of us." Dean says "She means demons, Jesse!" The Demon straightens and holds up a hand clenched into a fist Dean groans in pain, The Demon leans back down to Jesse "Those people you call your parents—they lied to you, too. You're not theirs—not really." Jesse says "My mom and dad love me." Demon asks "Do they? Is—is that why they leave you alone all day? Because they love you so much? These people—these imposters—they told you that the tooth fairy was real and that your toys could hurt you and a hundred other things that aren't true. They love you so much, they made your whole life a lie Look into your heart, Jesse. You've always known you weren't theirs you've always known you were different and everybody They're not FBI agents and you're not a superhero."
Jesse asks "Then what am I?" Demon says "You're powerful, You can have anything you want. You can do anything you want." Sarah regains consciousness and says "Don't listen to her, Jesse!" The Demon holds up a hand and drags Sarah up causing Dean to fall but he couldn't move, Demon says "They treated you like a child, Nobody trusted you and everybody's lied to you. Doesn't that make you angry?" Jesse clenches his fist. The room rattles. The Demon looks up, exultant. The fire flares up and the lights flicker "See? It does make you angry. But I'm telling you the truth, Jesse." Things being to shatter "Wouldn't it be better if there were no lies? Come with me and you can wash it all clean. Start over. Imagine that—a world without lies." Sam says "She's right. We lied to you." The Demon looks at Sam, eyes black "But I'll tell you the truth." The Demon raises a fist, something crunches. Sam tries to speak through the pressure on his throat "I just want...to tell..."
Jesse says "Stop it." Sam drops to the floor, released and he gasps in breath Jesse says "I want to hear what he has to say." Demon says "You're stronger than I thought." Sam stands up "We lied to you and I'm sorry. So here's the truth. I'm Sam Winchester. That's my brother, Dean and his fiancee Sarah Moore, W-we hunt monsters." Dean says "Except when you are the monster. Right, Sammy?" Sam says "And that woman right there, her name is Julia. She's your mother. But the thing inside of her, the thing that you're talking to—it's a demon." Jesse says "A Demon?" Demon says "He's done nothing but lie to you since the moment you met him. Don't listen to him. Punish him." Jesse says "Sit down and shut up." A chair scoots up behind the Demon, who is forced into it, silent. She struggles to speak. Sarah is free and Sam says "There's, uh, kind of a...a war between angels and demons, and...you're a part of it." Jesse says "I'm just a kid."
Sam says "You can go with her if you want. I can't stop you. No one can. But if you do...millions of people will die." Jesse says "She said I was half demon. Is that true?" Sam says "Yes But you're half human, too. You can do the right thing. You've got choices, Jesse. But if you make the wrong ones, it'll haunt you for the rest of your life." Jesse asks "Why are you telling me this?!" Sam says "Because I have to believe someone can make the right choice, even if I couldn't." Jesse thinks about this. He clenches his fist and looks at the Demon and says "Get out of her." The chair flies back against the wall and Black smoke pours out of Julia's mouth and vanishes up the chimney. Dean drops to the ground, panting "How did you do that?" Jesse says "I just did." Dean says "Kid...you're awesome."
Inside Jesse's Living Room Daytime, Jesse looks at Julia slumped in the chair "Is she gonna be all right?" Dean looks at Julia "Eventually." Dean leans down and picks up the Castiel action Figure, which fell down at some point "Look, uh, truth is, he's kind of a buddy of mine. Is there any way you could turn him back?" Jesse says "He tried to kill me." Dean says "Right. Uh. But he's a—he's a good guy. He was just confused." Jesse says nothing "Okay. It's been a long night. We'll...talk about it later." Dean puts the Castiel action figure back on the mantel "What now?" Dean looks at Sarah and Sam and says "Now we take you someplace safe, get you trained up. You'd be handy in a fight, kid." Jesse asks "What if I don't want to fight?" Sam says "Jesse." Sam comes forward to sit in front of Jesse "You're powerful. More powerful than...pretty much anything we've ever seen. That makes you—" Jesse says "A freak."
Sam says "To some people, maybe. But not to us. See, we're kind of freaks ourselves." Jesse says "I can't stay here, can I?" Dean says "No. The demons know where you are, and more will be coming." Jesse says "I won't go without my mom and dad." Sarah says "There's nothing more important than family. We get that and if you really want to take them with you, we'll back your play. But you got to understand—it's gonna be dangerous for them, too." Jesse asks "What do you mean?" Dean says "Our dad...he would take us with him wherever he went." Jesse asks "Where is he now?" Sam says "Dead, A demon killed him." Dean says "Look, Jesse...once you're in this fight..." Dean leans down to Jesse "You're in it till the end, win or lose." Jesse asks "What should I do?" Sam says "We can't tell you It's your choice, It's not fair we know." Jesse asks "Can I go see my parents? I, I need to...say goodbye." Dean says "Sure."
Upstair in Jesse's Parent's bedroom, Jesse peeks into the room and sees his parents asleep in bed. He looks at them for a moment and closes the door. Inside Jesse's bedroom, Jesse flops down on his bed, then sits up, looking at a poster on his wall: it shows a surfer and says AUSTRALIA. In the Living Room, Sam examines the Castiel action figure and puts him back on the mantel without any of the care Dean showed. Dean says "He's been up there a long time." Sam, Sarah and Dean enter the room. It's empty Castiel appears and says "He's gone." Sarah, Sam and Dean turn; Castiel is behind them Sam says "Where?" Castiel says "I don't know. Jesse put everyone in town back to normal—the ones still alive. Then he vanished." Sam notices a note on Jesse's bed and picks it up and he says "Hey." Dean asks "What does it say?" Sam says "That he had to leave to keep his parents safe, that he loves them, and he's sorry." Sarah asks "How do we find him?" Castiel says "With the boy's powers, we can't. Not unless he wants to be found."
Inside the Impala, nighttime Dean asks "You think Jesse's gonna be okay?" Sam takes a deep breath "I hope so." Sarah says "You know, we destroyed that kid's life by telling him the truth." Sam says "We didn't have a choice, Sarah and Dean." Dean says "Yeah. You know, I'm starting to get why parents lie to their kids. You want them to believe that the worst thing out there is mixing Pop Rocks and Coke—protect them from the real evil. You want them going to bed feeling safe. If that means lying to them, so be it and the more I think about it...the more I wish Dad had lied to us." Sam says "Yeah, me too."
