I'm Gonna Wreck It

Leo bolted down the hallway. Then another hallway. And another.

"Where the hell is the exit?!"

Footsteps could be heard behind him as his pursuers were getting closer. This place is a damn maze! Where was he supposed to go?

In the corner of his eye, he saw that one of the open rooms on his left was full of cabinets. Data?

[Please tell me there is a blueprint of this place.]

He barreled through the door, shut it behind him, and then slowly slid down as he closed his eyes. Please run past, please run past.

"Go go go! He must have turned at the end of the hallway!"

Clat clat clat

Footsteps slowly passed the door and began to fade.

"Whew!" Leo let out a breath of relief.

"What are you doing here!"

[Oh fuck me.]

Leo opened his eyes and saw agent Moore pointing his pistol at him. Why is it always this guy!?

"Please, can't you just let me be! I just want to leave!"

Apprehensively, agent Moore tightened his grip on the pistol. "How did you escape from that stupid general?"

"Stupid general? Wha - I don't know -," Leo raised his hands, "I just somehow yeeted everything against the walls and summoned a forcefield."

"Forcefield, wha- what? How do I believe you?"

[Believe? I don't have time for this!]

Leo glanced at agent Moore's pistol. If he could only focus…

SWOOM

"HEY!"

It worked!

Leo held agent Moore's pistol after summoning it toward him.

[So my power is -]

"Wha - what are you doing?! If you shoot me - "

[Oi, can you just shut it?]

Leo threw the pistol against the wall and exasperatedly looked at him. "Why would I shoot you? I - just - want - to - leave."

"Wha - What? How can I believe you?"

"How can you - ughhhh - can't you see I threw the gun? If I wanted you dead you would be dead." Leo turned and pointed at the door behind him. "If I wanted to kill anyone then those freaking soldiers wouldn't have been chasing me!"

Agent Moore stood there in disbelief. It was too much to process. How did he steal his gun? He's just a human, the blood test proved it and Leo seemed just as confused about the last few hours as he was. But Leo just stole his gun! Was he a metahuman like those in the movies or was he just some random alien?

Agent Moore shook his head. Regardless if he was an alien or a metahuman, this guy in front of him seemed to just have gotten more scared since the moment he saw him. All he wanted right now was his own safety. At least that made sense.

Footsteps could be heard again on the other side of the door.

Agent Moore cursed. They must have heard their commotion. No point in over thinking this now. He looked straight at Leo.

"I need you to trust me."

"Oh hell no!"

"Come on! You should know that, even if you escape from here, the federation will never stop looking for you. They will hunt you down like there is no tomorrow and you will never be able to live in peace."

Leo scoffed, "as if you're any better!"

"IN THERE."

Shouting on the other side of the door jolted Leo into bumping into one of the filing cabinets. How was he going to - wait... he had cabinets! Without a second thought, he grabbed the side of the cabinet, and commanded it to be weightless. He then began tossing cabinets to form a barricade.

Seeing this, agent Moore was even more astounded. How many powers does this guy have?

THUD

The three cabinets currently in front of the door slid an inch forward.

"You don't have much time, you need to listen to me."

Leo ignored him and kept pilling cabinets while the S.W.A.T. guys outside tried to barge in. Agent Moore held his temple. What could he do to convince this guy? He currently only values his life since he doesn't have a wife, kids, or any - that's it! Agent Moore quickly took a step back and grabbed what he had been looking at a while ago: Leo's wallet. He had come in here to check the archival collection and hopefully learn more about Leo even though the general thought that the wallet didn't have any important information.

"Leo. Leo!"

Now what? Leo glanced over to see the agent brandishing his wallet.

"Wha - where did you-?" Leo glanced back at his new cabinet mountain. "If this has to do with persuading me, it's not gonna happen."

"I can tell you were the other things we found with you are."

"Bah - why do I -" Leo paused. Wait, his computer. If it came with him then it could have the calculations from the particle accelerator. Hesitant, Leo asked agent Moore, "did you find a laptop?"

"Yes," he nodded. "I can tell you where it is if you just listen to me." His mind quickly whirred. It was obvious now that they couldn't contain Leo. Even if he could gain Leo's trust, general Baker would never allow it. The least he could do was make sure Leo didn't start a vendetta that would hurt the public.

"Righht... I'm listening," Leo said as he squinted.

Agent Moore quickly explained, "the devices found on and around you at the point of the crash are being taken to one of the research centers at our government's capital planet: Spirit. It's orbiting a star called Vega which belongs to the Lyra constellation."

SIZZZZ

"Huh? What now?" They both turned but only heard a whistling sound coming from the door. Narrowing his eyes, agent Moore took a good whiff of the air. "Ha, ha - ugh, no." He covered his nose and suppressed his giggle. "They're using the sevoflurane we had in storage."

"Sevoflurane? Wha- ha ha ha. Huh?" Leo took a step back.

"It's laughing gas - they want to knock you out."

Wait, laughing gas? Leo snarled and looked at the last cabinet.

"Just"

He touched the cabinet.

"Leave"

It started floating.

"Me"

He kicked the cabinet.

"ALONE!"

CRASH

The cabinet crumbled upon itself as it created a small crater in the wall opposite to the door. "COME ON!" He heaved it again.

CRASH

"Stronger, ha ha Ha. I need to - Ha ha HA - be stronger!"

CRASH

"He he HA HA HAA"

CRASH

"HE ha He BREAK DAMMIT."

RUMBLE

"Yes!"

Through the dust, Leo jumped through the gap in the wall.

"Wait!" Agent Moore followed him out. "I can tell you how to leave this place."

Uncertain, Leo stopped. "I'm listening."

"Just promise me that you wont hurt civilians," said agent Moore as he pulled out a slip of paper and began scribbling on it.

"Why the hell would I?"

"Just promise me."

This is ridiculous. "Fine, I promise. Now please just-"

"That way." Agent Moore pointed down the hallway and then shoved the paper into Leo's wallet. "Make a left, right, and then a left again. You'll reach the hangar, but you're going to have to make it through the steel doors. Oh, and take this."

He threw the wallet at Leo who then caught it.

"Why are you suddenly so cooperative?"

"Because my priority is to protect the public."

"Hmph." Leo began running down the direction that agent Moore had pointed.

Sighing, agent Moore could now faintly hear footsteps and yells from the opposite corner. He had to do something. It would be awfully suspicious if they found him just standing there. Well, they would notice what route Leo took anyways, so might as well pretend to help them.

"Over here!" Agent Moore shouted as he rapidly sat down on the rubble and threw dust over himself. When he saw that the people coming toward him weren't S.W.A.T. members from his division but actual soldiers he coughed in surprise. Quickly regaining his composure, he pointed down the hall. "He went that way! Go go go!"

Nodding, the soldiers ran after Leo.

***

[Left, right, and then was it right? Or left?]

The last split was getting closer, but all Leo could do was rack his brain. Come on! Which one? He glanced back and noticed that an actual soldier had finally come around the corner behind him.

[Screw it, i'm going left.]

Lifting a hand in front of him in case he was showered in bullets, he turned and dashed down the last stretch.

RA KA TA TA TA

"Oooofff, yup, definitely left."

The five guards that had been on night duty at the gate had been alerted by the general, so they hid behind some of the APCs and began launching volleys of bullets at Leo. But the next second they were dumbfounded. How the hell was he deflecting all the bullets?!

Ignoring them, Leo sprinted to the gigantic steel doors, but nearly lost his breath while doing so. Damn, why was he so out of shape? Once he finally reached them, he saw that these things appeared to be reinforced and, with his current power, he wasn't so confident in smashing through them. But they did seem to slide across the floor.

"I ORDER YOU TO SURRENDER!"

General Baker finally arrived along with his soldiers and other agents. Upon seeing agent Moore among them, Leo cursed. Great, wasn't this guy supposed to help him? All the gunfire stopped as Leo was surrounded. He scowled at agent Moore who, once locking eyes with him, looked up, then at Leo, and then back up again.

Confused, Leo glanced up.

[What was he - oh, I get it. Didn't hangars have super anti-fire foam or something?]

"LAY DOWN ON THE - AARGH"

With quick hand motions, Leo broke all the ceiling pipes of the hangar fire suppression system and let down torrents of foam. Chaos ensued as some soldiers tried firing at Leo while others tried to avoid being submerged. With that, Leo quickly scanned the doors and focused on where the doors met the railings. Concentrating, he felt some wheels hidden there with some locking mechanisms. No need for those anymore.

CREEEE

Sweat slowly crept down Leo's face as the doors were slowly released and allowed to freely slide open.

"HE'S GETTING AWAY. DON'T JUST - BLLEERGH - GET - AAAGGHH - HIM."

But almost everyone was too preoccupied escaping the foam between them and Leo that all they could do was see his silhouette run out of the hangar.
