Her Remaining Life

"Nurse Li, why don't you please help the lady to lie back to the bed?" Lu He Yan turned to nurse Li who nodded and did as what she was told to do.

At first, Yang Mi wanted to protest and avoid the touch of the human nurse but because she was too weak and tired, she surrendered to her touch and laid on the bed.

"Alright, Miss. Will you please tell me how many fingers is this?" Lu He Yan raised his hands and stuck out seven fingers.

Yang Mi blankly stared at the man.

Like a good doctor, Lu He Yan repeated his questions until she answered, "It's seven fingers."

She released a tired breath as if she had no time to waste on his silly games.

Lu He Yan almost laughed out loud when he saw her disgusted expression and said, "Now, I want you to tell me do you remember your name and how old are you?"

Lu He Yan carefully said. The one thing a doctor doesn't want to do was to give a shock to the patient by mentioning that they were shot in the chest or head. Still, he needed to make sure that there was nothing wrong in her head.

At this point, Yang Mi blanked out. She didn't know what to tell them. She couldn't possibly tell them that she was a ghost that lived over a thousand years. No human would believe that and would instantly assume that she's gone nuts

That's the last thing she wanted. To be assumed as someone who lost her mind because she was starting to feel like she really did lose hers due to what was happening to her right now.

"My name is Yang Mi." As she tried to speak, her voice sounded rough and raspy. But that wasn't what caught her attention. It was the electronic voice in her head who spoke along with her.

[Host's remaining life: 4 minutes and 12 seconds!]

[Once the counter reaches 0, the host will lose her life.]

Lose her life? Great! Wouldn't that mean she'll turn back to being a ghost?

[Once the life is lost, the system will erase all data and the host will be sent to Hell.]

Wait… what?!

Why would she end up going to that abominable and horrible place?

Yang Mi froze instantly at the announcement.

As if it could read her mind, the system replied once again.

[All failure hosts will automatically go to Hell. There is no other place for failures. That is why you must complete the missions to survive and have a longer life.]

Yang Mi gritted her teeth. She wanted to flatten the system. If she could only use her spiritual power, she could easily crush it! It's just that she didn't have any spiritual power left in her body and besides, she wasn't sure about how strong this system is.

Hell was never a great place to stay. It was horrible and the punishments done to its residents were something that brought fear in her heart.

Ghost or not, no one wanted to be sent to a place where every second, you will be subjected to torture and immense pain. Not only that, this cycle will continue for an indefinite period.

"Miss Yang? Are you alright?" Lu He Yan asked her. Yang Mi was turning pale and he got worried that she might be in so much pain.

Haa… Kaisar will surely kill me if something were to happen to her.

Just as he was about to tell the nurses to give her some painkillers to lessen the pain in her chest, Yang Mi shook her head, "I'm alright, Doc. I was just dizzy."

"Well, that's normal since you just recovered." Lu He Nan said and turned to nurse Li, "For now, we will monitor your health and help you get fully recovered. Nurse Li will be here for you when you need something."

After saying that, Lu He Yan left and was followed by the nurses who came with him. Yang Chao also left with them as he didn't know what to do with the lady they found at the crime scene.

It was only nurse Li who was left standing beside her bed. She was checking on the tubes that were once attached to her arm.

"Uh…" Yang Mi began to speak and got Nurse Li's attention.

"Yes, Miss Yang?"

"Can I… get… a glass… of water?" Yang Mi felt breathless after only speaking a few words but it was also the longest one she spoke after waking up.

Nurse Li nodded and looked around where the pitcher was. That's when she saw the plastic pitcher that was placed on top of the table next to the bed and gasped.

"Oh My God! Who put the water there?! And why is it all over the floor?" If the water got to the machines, don't even wonder why the patient died. She would have died from being electrocuted!

In the worst-case scenario, the whole hospital would be burned down once a fire started.

"Just wait a bit. I'll get you a glass of water and clean this mess!" Nurse Li told her.

Yang Mi wanted to tell her not to bother with the cleaning and hurry with the water. She was too thirsty and no one gave her anything to drink. But she was too late to tell her as Nurse Li hurried to leave to get the cleaning staff do their job and fetch a glass of water.

With her hand outstretched as if to stop the nurse, Yang Mi felt her whole world crumbling.

Why can't anyone just give her some water? Just a taste was enough! She might have not died from a bullet in her chest but she might die from thirst instead!

Just as she thought all hope was gone, the door opened once again.

But it wasn't the nurse or the doctor. It was a man with the most handsome face she'd ever seen.

And he was also the same man who accidentally shot her before she turned into a human.
