The Eyes have gone Blind

Drew arrived at this house and exited his vehicle. He leaned back and stretched as he got out of the car. "Man, it feels good to be home!" He said as he closed his eyes and enjoyed the feeling of his muscles stretching out. The world he saw when he reopened his eyes, however was not his own. His house was in embers, the green grass of his suburban neighborhood was black and the beautiful blue sky an odd green hue. He looked up and saw clouds swirling above his head. He could smell the stench of sulfur, and hear moans being carried across the wind. "The fuck?!" He shouted. As he blinked his world returned to normal.

His neighbor stood still across his yard. "They said no one would notice!" She yelled as she went back into her house crying.

"What was that?" Drew said. "Was it another dream? Has to be." He pulled the note he folded and put in his pocket earlier. "Now what are you I wonder." He said as he studied it. He pulled his phone out and searched the address. "Hmm an old abandoned hospital, should be a great place for a show." He said to himself, I wonder if it is really haunted though, or just another dead end." Having saved the address in his phone he no longer needed the paper. He crumpled it up and placed it in his waste bin outside.

He walked to his door and went inside his house. Drew lived alone with no wife or girlfriend, he never had any kids, his career was everything to him. His only companion ship was his prized fish Mr. Bubbles. The fish enjoyed a nice fifty-five-gallon tank with tons of accessories and an automatic feeder. Drew even had set up a self-cleaning mechanism up so the tank stayed pristine while he was away. Drew walked over to his friend and looked into the tank. "Hi Mr. Bubbles!" He said happily. "Did you miss me?!" The fish just swam around, uncaring of Drew's existence. "You did, didn't you Mr. Bubbles?! Of course, you did! Well don't get too used to me being home, I am off on another adventure tomorrow!"

Drew proceeded to go take his shower and clean up. As he scrubbed in the shower his steamy water suddenly changed murky and cold. "Whew!" He shouted as the cold water hit his skin. The water changed back to steaming and clear in a flash. "Must have been something in the pipe!" He said as he continued to scrub.

Elsewhere in a dark building multiple people sat in front of screens displaying Drew's house, as well as both Sam's and Terry's. A man in a general's uniform walked around the room. "So, anything to report?" He asked.

"No sir, Subject one seems to enjoy talking to his fish and yelling in the shower, but other than that nothing for subject one." One of the people said.

"Subject two fell asleep on her couch as soon as she entered." Another man said.

"Hmm, have a woman watch subject two." The general said. "Something creepy about a man watching a woman."

"Sir!" A woman said as she walked over and relieved the man watching Sam.

"What of subject three?" The general asked.

"He is rocking back and forth in the corner of his room?" The man watching him said.

"Well, keep watch." The general said. "We need to know if these three have any ties to a terrorist group, something happened at that black site and we are going to find out what."

"Sir yes sir!" They all said in unison.

Drew went to bed when he finished his shower and slept a dreamless sleep. When he awoke the next morning, he found the note he threw away sitting next to him on the bed. "The Hell?!" He said as he grabbed it. "Did someone break into my house?!" He ran to check on his fish. "Oh, thank god, Mr. Bubbles is okay. Seriously though, am I being stalked by some sort of super fan?"

"Whatever, time to get dressed and meet up with everyone." Drew said as he put on his clothes. "Oh, I should stop and get everyone a chicken biscuit this morning!"

Back at the surveillance room the general was coming back to check on things once more. He entered the room to find everyone slumped over in their chairs and their monitors fried. He picked up one of the people to find their eyes completely gone with only black pits remaining. Black veins spread from the pits and covered their face. Their lips were black as well and their tongue was gone. The general dropped the body and ran out of the room. "We need to quarantine this room!" He shouted. "Someone please find out what the hell is going on!"

Drew met up with everyone in the parking lot to the studio and struck up a conversation with Alex. He wanted to find out more about her. "So, Alex, are you ready for your first adventure?"

"Oh, I am totally ready!" Alex said excitedly. "This is like a dream come true!"

"I hope you still feel that way when we come face to face with a ghost!" Drew teased.

"It's just so exciting!" Alex said happily. "So where are we headed?"

"Well, I got an address that may be worth checking out." Drew said. "It is an old abandoned hospital, I am weary about going there, because it appears like a super fan really wants me to and it might be some sort of ambush. However, it is also the best lead on a place we have."

"You're the boss Drew." Sam said. "Give me the address and I will research it on the way."

"Let me put it in the GPS." Terry said as he reached out for the address. Drew handed it to him and Terry typed it into the GPS. "Looks like a five-hour drive, let's get going."

Alex received a text on her phone. [The eyes have been blinded. You are the only hope.] She read it and quickly put it away. A stressed look came upon her face from the news.

Drew noticed her face and spoke up. "Everything alright Alex?" He asked.

"Yeah, my mom is just sick, it worries me." Alex said.

"I'm sorry!" Drew said. "Well, if you need to stay, we completely understand!"

"No!" Alex said. "My mom's dream is to see her daughter on television. So, let's go make her dream a reality!"

"Alright!" Drew said. "Everyone get in the van! We ride!"
