It was late at night in London, the air was frigid for its inhabitants. Of course, this bitter cold even chilled the poor girl who most thought was dead to the world. A girl who spent her time in a near coma-like state, however, there were signs that she was awake and aware of her surroundings. No thunder or rain, let alone snow could be seen from her window, it was a calm night, just a freezing one. The girl sitting on her bed was wrapped up in a blanket. She did not know the material of it, it was no silk or fleece, but it lacked any harsh feeling on her skin so she assumed it was cotton, maybe wool. However, the blanket was not her concern, far from it. The girl could swear she saw a pair of red eyes looking at her from the window of the asylum. Eyes that belonged to no creature on earth. Eyes she could not describe. How could an entity have glowing red eyes? Or were they pink? She could believe pink. But no entity had red pupils. That was what made it alien.
"My what a strange tomorrow," a voice spoke beside her. She knew the voice and did not have to turn her head to know who it was. Of course, if anyone were to enter the room, they would see her sitting alone in the darkness, but to her, there was a gray cat, a large one with a grin of yellowing teeth, the creature was skin and bones, covered in black tattoo-like markings and the only tuft of fur it possessed was on its cheeks and its tail. At least its fur was evident, but one could not say that its fur was the length of a short hair cat, no, one could compare it to a shaved cat but even then they would be slightly wrong one way or another. The deep voice of the cat soothed her, a faithful companion to her. "Things will change for sure, Amy."
"Change denotes neither good nor bad, but life will not be the same," Amy semi quoted. She could hear the cat purr as if pleased. Amy could not sleep, and she could not slip into the enigma that was her mind, her Wonderland. Things will change. She has not been outside of the cold walls of the asylum for years. She barely knew what London was like outside the walls of Rutledge. And she knew she was going somewhere far beyond London. To another country, she thinks. She never heard of a land called Ever After, so she assumed it was another country. She never went to high school before. She was about 14, so under normal circumstances, she would be old enough to go to highschool. She toyed with the idea of college for a bit. Maybe that too. 1900 was sure to be a year of oddity. She hoped it was. If she was being 'let out' to attend school in another country then hopefully the world will no longer be caught up in its stuck-up old ways. Ways that declared her mother as mentally ill, and has claimed the same about herself as well. It's been six long years since she set foot anywhere. When her friends from Wonderland were gone, she was paralyzed, trapped in her own body, unable to move. She hated it. She could only hope that wherever she ended up, would not deem her mad and lock her away again.
Outside of Amy's room, peeping through the window from where they sat, were two cat like creatures. One has long appendages sprouting from its ears, with rings around each appendage, with red-pink eyes, a bushy soft tail, a red egg-shaped oval outline on its back and, a round noseless face. The other was identical to it, however the appendages that sprouted from the other's ears, sprouted from its neck, black fur-lined its neck and colored the appendages, giving the other the appearance of wearing a scarf. Neither of them moved their lips, not that they had to.
"That girl in there is Amy Liddell. Daughter of Alice Liddell. It is truly no surprise that Amy has such a high magical potential considering the feats of her mother."
The 'scarf' wearing on tilted its head as it spoke telepathically to the other entity, "She is the human you want me to make a contract with?"
"That is correct Kanybey."
The being known as Kanbey turned its head to look at the girl who seemed to be staring at them from her room. Only the other's eyes had any light hitting it, so it was likely she was seeing Kyubey's eyes through the darkness. Amy sat in silence, unaware of their existence, chalking the eyes she was seeing to another hallucination. She had no way of knowing what the two were planning, that they even existed at all. But Kanbey knew one thing. This girl was important. She was the key to fixing what happened in Ever After.
The night was uneventful beyond that. At least for the two creatures and Amy. The next morning a doctor came into Amy's room. Amy did not like this doctor. She knew him as he was one of the main people tasked with wheeling her around from place to place. She did not really know what he looked like, but it did not matter to her, she knew it was that one doctor. Who else would be grumbling about having to wheel Amy around? Most laugh or remain silent. Some make jokes. Not this doctor, he complained all the damn time. Amy was convinced that the man needed a vacation or something. Maybe he needed to be fired and get a different job, she doesn't know. Amy tried to glare at the man as he picked her up and sat her down in her wheelchair. She was even more annoyed that there was no funnel in sight. No breakfast before leaving or final tests, or whatever the fuck the asylum did before giving the mentally ill to foreign countries? Fucking dick.
Screams, sobs, and laughter echoed around the asylum as Amy was being wheeled off. Long grey halls, as far as Amy's eye can see, stretched out before her. It was easy to forget a world outside Rutledge even existed. Well beyond Wonderland of course, but Wonderland is not in reality. Soon enough Amy's eyes were assaulted by natural light. It has been so long since she has been in the sunlight, let alone outside. Amy was wheeled to the gates of Rutledge, as she and the grumbling doctor awaited...something... They never told Amy what was going on beyond that she was going off somewhere for a while.
However, the duo did not wait long, as less than 10 minutes later a carriage pulled up. It was unlike the average open carriages that were essentially large wagons with benches nailed into them, it was like a ball in form, however, the ball was white with gold winding around it, almost as if it was vines and not metal, with swirling golden wheels, red curtains were withdrawn from the glass window of the carriage door. The doctor opened the door of the carriage, the inside appearing to be red with potentially a velvet-like material, with the seats also being a crimson color but resembled leather.
Inside the carriage were two blonde teens, both possessing blue eyes. One girl had curly hair, short bangs, a large blue bow on her head, a ruffle sleeved and necked blue and white dress with bears and keys printed all over it. She was also clad in blue leggings, while sneaker-like heals, with a key like spoke with brown fur at the cuffs. The other girl's hair was more wavy than curly, ending in curls. She wore a red dress with a white vest with gold thread embroidered throughout it in a diamond-like pattern. Her legs were clad in white leggings that had golden vines and leaves decorating them, her feet in red heels with orange bow like straps.
Dear god, where was she going?
