Chapter 2

Emma watches the clock tick by as she waits for Sophie to arrive. The best thing she liked about Sophie is that she works in fashion as well, which made it easier to become friends with so much in common, though she does deal more with the magazine than the clothes.

To Emma's surprise... She learns that Sophie works on clothes in her spare time and more specifically in designing them. It has been yet another new thing that she has learnt about her friend. Seems all they've done since her break up is grow closer. It makes Emma wonder if perhaps she was too invested in her relationship, that she never truly gave Sophie a real chance at being a close friend of hers.

The doorbell rings and Emma is opening it as Sophie comes rushing in, with dresses in her hands. "I didn't have a lot of time, with short notice and all." She lays each dress down on the couch as Emma takes them in. "It was the best I could do." "Beautiful." Emma whispers as she smiles slightly as she picks up the white and gold one. "Ah, I did make that one with you in mind."

She holds it against herself as she walks towards her long mirror. "I thought it would make you look angelic with your long golden hair and bright blue eyes." "I'm going to try it on." Emma disappears and Sophie laughs quietly to herself. Everyone could only see Emma as cold but if they saw her reaction just now... Their mouths would fall open in shock.

Sophie liked that Emma was opening up to her, especially after all the times she'd told her about guys she's dated and had left. She constantly told her about these situations just to make her appreciate Andy, yet now she cringes at the memories. The men she'd been with had been pretty awful with not calling back after a night out but at least they liked her for who she is. Sophie could feel herself pitying Emma and she told herself to stop. It's the last thing Emma would want and she'd call her out for it as well.

"It fits, it fits!" Emma comes twirling out of the doorway and Sophie smiles. Emma stops after a few more twirls and her excitement vanishes as she looks at Sophie. "Were you crying?" "I'll take care of it." Emma starts heading for the door as she suspects another guy either bailing on her friend or not calling back. "Stop!" "It's not like that." "What is it?" Sophie's hand drops from grabbing onto Emma before she looks away.

"All those times I complained about the guys I was seeing..." "Don't." Sophie is startled by the seriousness in Emma's voice. Emma turns the atmosphere coldly. "It's not pity, it's just..." "I can hear it now, in your voice." Emma starts to walk away, to take off the dress. "I wouldn't have if i'd known." Emma stops and doesn't turn before speaking. "I enjoyed you telling me every story." "I've never had many friends but you." "It felt like you genuinely cared about telling me your problems and it distracted me from my own, also don't pity me."

"I know you care about me but I could have left him any time I wanted." "I could have told him what he was doing was wrong." "He has and always will be my first love and I truly don't regret any of it." "I wanted to experience love." "It didn't matter to me what kind of love it was." Emma closes the door and Sophie could feel the tears running down her face. Emma expressed the thoughts calmly but why was it that it hurt to hear her say those words?

Emma walks back out in her other dress and she appears more relaxed. "Try yours on." Emma looks at Sophie and notices the tear stains and instantly looks away. Emma wanted to comfort her but she knew it would make her cry more and she didn't want her to cry. "I will." Sophie walks by her and goes to get changed as Emma breaths out a breath of air. She knew she'd been harsh to her and hoped Sophie would understand her.

It's only a few minutes before Sophie walks out in a green dress, that matches well with her hazel eyes and short brown hair. Emma felt slight envy at her slim figure and thought about her curvy one. Some men thought it was beautiful while others want their women to have a perfectly flat tummy and proportioned body. Sophie admires herself in the mirror before looking at the clock.

"You should get your dress back on, we'll need to get our hair and makeup done fast." "Why?" Emma looks to the clock and remembers that it's still a few hours until the concert. "It's better to show up early and beat the crowds." Emma just shrugs before putting her dress back on, while Sophie starts doing her makeup. Emma admires her perfect makeup but decides to do light makeup as shes always done.

She then straightens her hair and puts in the right oil that will give it a nice shine. Sophie on the other hand curls her hair and applies mouse. They're done in half an hour and are heading to the venue in Emma's car. It takes about an hour before they arrive and much to Sophie's dismay... They don't beat the crowd.

Emma tries to calm down Sophie as she starts looking through the people. "We're going to miss the show!" The aggravation is clear and Emma grabs Sophie and pulls her into her arms. "We'll get in." She starts smoothing down her hair as wisps of it fly out before rubbing circles into her back. She lets her stay in her arms and soon the people have almost cleared before she pulls away.

"Lets go." Emma gives a smile and Sophie is about to protest when she turns around and sees the streets empty. "Come on!" Sophie's excitement is back and she drags Emma by her wrist, into the Arena. The seats are filled as they get in and they check for their seat numbers. "We're near the front." Sophie tells her and pulls her along. "You weren't kidding about liking their music." "Not just their music." Sophie winks and she's about to laugh at her when she spots a familiar jacket and sees a beautiful woman clutching onto the arm of a man she'd been with only days prior. "Andy." She breaths and it's as if he can hear her over countess people talking.

He turns and Emma feel her heart drop as she'd hoped it wouldn't be him. His smile broadens as he sees her and looks her up and down. Sophie suddenly realizes Emma isn't with her and sees her frozen, staring at a man. She squints her eyes and steps forward, only to step back. Emma wouldn't want her interfering.

Emma takes in how good he looks and hates him for it. "Nice one." Emma gestures to the woman beside him and Andy brings her in closer. "This is what real beauty is." He taunts as her eyes fill with tears. She looks at the arm wrapped around another woman. "This is something you'll never have again." She gestures to her body and Andy can't help but lick his lips in a disgusting way.

"He has me." The woman beside him says and Emma walks away, knowing she'll cry if she stays longer. "You..." "Emma shakes her head and Sophie takes her hand as they walk down, to their seats. "Forget about him." Sophie says as the lights go down and a spot light comes out, as well as many other colored lights. "It's starting!" Sophie says and Emma feels her hands shake as her heart pumps every emotion through her.
