44.Memories Resurface

Jared's eyes fluttered open, his mind foggy and disoriented. He lay in bed, drenched in sweat, as if he had just run a marathon.

The air-conditioning hummed softly in the background, but his body felt like it was on fire. He tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through his head, forcing him back onto the pillow.

"No, no, no...please come back to me," he muttered, his voice barely audible.

As he lay there, fragments of memories began to resurface. Flashes of a life he thought he had lost forever. Megan's face appeared in his mind, her bright smile and sparkling eyes piercing through the fog.

"Megan...my angel," he whispered, his eyes welling up with tears.

He remembered the way she laughed, the way her hair smelled, and the way her touch set his soul on fire.

He remembered their time together, the adventures they shared, and the love they made. He recalled their laughter, their arguments, and their passionate reconciliations.
