Chapter: 7: The Call Of Death

"Sir, we found the victim's son."

Jacob was seriously astonished. He just said one thing. " Coming"

He started running with madness. It was late at night. Maybe around 2 pm. He took a cab and went straight to his office. As Kenri saw Jacob he started to report him the details.

"The boy was found dead in the west river. The reason of death was drowning. The forensic department yet to give us the results."

Jacob asked Kenri if he could see the dead body. But he denied it as Mr.Beak refused him.

Jacob became frustrated with this nonsensical reason. He had the most righteous to see the body as he was in charge of the case.

"Where is Mr. Beak?"

"In his room."Kenri replied, "But don't go he is currently meeting with Mr. Joh-"

Jacob rushed to his room. "Sir, why didn't you give me permission to see the body?"

Mr. Beak made a long face as he saw Jacob.

"That's because you are out of this case. From now on John will be in charge of the case. Dismissed." Another person was present in the room before Jacob. 'John'

John is the rival of Jacob. A childhood friend of his, who's main intention is to dominate Jacob. Jacob was a simple-minded funny, Cheerful guy. Simply say a free spirit and that's why John was popular in his class and for that reason, John was jealous of him. Jacob left the room as he understood what was going on.

The case was handed over to John because of Jacob's incompetence. "Why this is happening to me? Did I break someone's PS5? No right?"

That night he didn't go to his home. He just sat down on a bar. It was around 2 pm. Kevin was fallen asleep on the bar table. A sudden voice rang.

~Pick me~ ~Pick me ~ ~ Pick me up~

"For god's sake, leave me alone. Let me sleep."

He picked up the call while mumbling.

"Sir, Mr. Aliva is dead. The victim's wife. Ohh! Sorry, I forget the case was handed to Mr. John. I have to inform him. Sorry for the inconvenience. Good night."

Jacob suddenly became sober. "Wait! Wait! What did you say?"

But the call was cut. There was no answer from the other side. "Oh, man! Things are getting so complicated. Ahhah F*ck you black shoes."

This time Jacob didn't go to his apartment. He rather went to the Psycho Store where he mainly passes his free time. The road to the store was the same as always creepy. But Jacob stopped feeling afraid by the alley, because of frequently coming here. Jacob pushed the door as he entered the store. Abi was about to close the store. It's already so late. Who will come to a store so late at night? Though Jacob did. Jacob pulled the chair to sit. Abi didn't say anything.

"Aren't you going to say like this good for nothing, Loser detective what's he doing here?"-Jacob

"So, What's this good for nothing, dumbass guy doing here?" Abi replied, "How's mine one?"

"You sure know how to wryly someone. Don't you think I'm so miserable?"-Jacob

"Of course but it's not like I can do anything for you," Abi replied as he was closing his store. "Why don't you read this book? I think it suits you." Abi handed a book to Jacob.

"You seriously put profit before everything. Just look at me how emotionally broken I am?"

Abi stared at Jacob for a while.

"Nothing wrong. You should just head home. I have to close the store."

Without hearing any answer Abi looked at Jacob's face once again and he was already fallen asleep, dripping all over the book Abi gave him.

------Next-Day Morning---------

"Ah! my head! whoah, it hurts so much."

Jacob opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was a pile of books around him.

"Where am I?"

A small room filled with tons of books. It may be a storage room. Wiping his face Jacob walked out of the room. Abi was cleaning the bookshelves with a cloth. He said to Jacob as soon as he felt his presence. "You awake! You are real troublesome person."

"-why was I in that room? I don't remember anything that happened last night."

"That's because you have fallen asleep on the table while dripping on my precious table."

"So, you carried me to the storage room?"

"More likely dragged you. I pulled your two legs and started dragging into the room."

Jacob rubbed his leg."So, that's why I'm feeling so much pain in my legs."

"Aren't you late for your detective work?"

Jacob pulled out his phone to see the time.

<8:45>

"Oh! sh*t I'm late."

Office hour starts at 8 am. Jacob left the store. It was late and for that reason, he started running like a horse. He couldn't take the train because it will make him later. A cab will cost more. So, the only way was to run. Jacob reached me at 10 am. Though nobody said anything about his late.

*Is it my last day?"

The office seemed more busy than usual. He quickly sat down on his desk. The desk next to him was Kenri. He whispered to Kenri so that others couldn't hear him.

"Hey! Kenri What's wrong?"

"The case you were hanging, it became more serious. Mrs. Aliva was found dead in her room last night. She committed suicide."Kenri replied, "By her daughter's testimony last night she went downstairs as the telephone rang. After fifteen minutes, she hang up the call and went to sleep. At midnight her daughter went to her room as she couldn't fall asleep. She saw her mother dead. The reason for dead Sleeping pills. It's a good thing that you are not in charge of the case."

Mr. Beak and John handled the media. Due to the media's influence, It has become a major case.

The higher-ups were pushing them to solve the close the case as quickly as possible.

Jacob again whispered Kenri,

"Did they trace the phone call?"

"The call was from a telephone booth. It is located on the west side of the river. Sir John is trying to recover the record of the phone call."
