The group spent the time at the Oak's till late night, almost dinner time. Red and Blue had taken time to return all the Pokemon to the pokeballs. Blue was complaining how hyperactive and playful Pokemon could be once they were used to you and not scared or wary anymore. He swore he would never be a researcher or Professor, he did not have the patience at all for it. Red simply laughed as his friend complained about it before reminding him as trainers they might face the same thing getting an annoyed pout from him.
Samuel looked up as they returned, "Welcome back Blue, Red! Are all the Pokemon returned?"
Blue sat next to Gary, "Sure have Gramps! They didn't want to return though and made us chase them a lot. They are really active little guys. Whatcha reading there sport?"
Gary looked up from the large book, "The league laws and regulations, they are straight forward and understandable for most part."
Red hummed as he looked at the large book that was almost the same size as them in height, "The book looks like it'll swallow you whole, baby cuz!"
Ash sat up in a pose, "You can call me Hermione Jean Granger!"
Blue looked confused, "Who?"
Ash sweatdropped a bit and said the first thing that came to his mind, "Ahem! Uh! She's a heroine of a book I'm thinking about writing and she loves reading? I think?"
Gary pouted at Ash, "You are writing a book? You didn't tell me earlier!"
Ash shrugged, "I just got the idea when I saw this book. I'm not sure how it'll turn out really. Or if I want to actually write it, I was just thinking about it."
Red, "What sort of book will it be little cuz?"
Ash looked away, "I'm ummm not sure? I just thought about it right now. So I honestly don't know. I was thinking castle and magic, maybe?"
Gary sat up, "I want to be the first to read it!"
Ash looked up, "Eh? Um, okay sure!"
Red, "I'll be the second then."
Blue, "Oi! Oi! Oi! You are not leaving me out! I reading it too."
Red sweatdropped, "It's not a competition!"
Ash ducked his head, "You guys! I don't even know if I'll write it!"
Red ruffled Ash's hair, "I think you should write it. I want to read the book my baby cuz wrote."
Ash blushed, "Fine! But just one book! And you have to be honest when you tell me what you think about it, okay?"
Blue grinned, "Sure kid!"
Ash blushed, 'Handsome, very handsome! That should be illegal, no wonder there were so many fanfics in my previous life. Wait weren't they together in Alola? Not like I have anything against that... Hmmm! Wonder how things will turn out this time.'
Gary pushed Blue, "No Blue! Ash is my friend! You have Red!"
Blue laughed, "Don't worry baby bro! I'm not gonna steal your boyfriend!"
Ash spluttered, "We are best friends!", 'And I'm not a pedo! Thank you very much! My body may be that of a child but my mind is not.'
Red grinned, "Stop teasing Blue, look at them they are red as tomato berries!"
Samuel laughed loud and hard startling the four boys who had forgotten he was there, "How about we all get dinner? It is getting late after all."
Blue, "I'll order Gramps, you only know how to order pizza."
Samuel, "There is nothing wrong with pizza."
Blue sighed, "We have been eating pizza everytime we order food. I was thinking of ordering something Hoenn for dinner and Jhoto for dessert."
Ash perked up, "Ooooh! Can you order the melted cheese thing, fondue I think it's called, with different breads and fruit that go with it? I really love that one, the last time we ordered."
Gary, "And some dango for dessert. They are really nice to eat."
Blue smiled warmly, "Sure, what about you Red any specific food?"
Red, "I was thinking about having one of those Hoenn style burgers, the one with the onion rings?"
Blue, "That's fine, dessert?"
Red, "I'm good with dango."
Samuel sat in the corner, "Ignored by my own children!"
Gary got up and pat his back, "You can read Ash's book with me!"
Samuel smiled, "Why thank you Gary!"
Blue snarked, "Real smooth old man!"
Samuel, "I don't know what you are talking about?"
Gary looked at Ash, "Did we miss something?"
Ash shrugged, "No idea.... Must be a grown up thing."
The group settled down as Samuel asked Ash more about his book and what he planned for it. Ash told him he had a sudden idea of a what if humans were able to do things Pokemon could but those humans were part of a hidden society. A world of magic ruled by their own government, laws and society completely different from their own. Samuel was very impressed and Gary looked very interested in it.
Blue, "Hold up! Are you telling me you got all that from reading a boring old book on league rules and regulations?"
Ash nodded his head embarrassed, "Sort of! It just clicked in my head!"
Red laughed, "We look forward to it baby cuz."
Ash smiled but before he could answer the door bell rang and Blue got up to answer it and walked out. When he returned he was holding packets of food in his hands that Red helped him with and the two spread the assortment of food on the table. Gary rushed to the kitchen to get bottles of drinks that ranged from milkshakes to sodas to juice and water. Gary grinned as he put the different drinks on the table and sat next to Blue as he started to serve the food after saying a word of thanks to Arceus.
Red, "Professor thanks for letting us sleep over again!"
Samuel, "Do not thank me for that kiddo! Anyone with eyes can see you and Blue enjoy your time together."
Blue got flustered, "What does that mean?"
Samuel, "I mean what I said!"
Blue, "Old man!"
Samuel, "Brat!"
Gary and Ash giggled at the exchange between the two older Oaks. The dinner ended with a lot of bickering, laughing and talking. It was very warm and pleasant night.
Samuel, "Boys summer will start soon and I'm holding a summer camp. Would you be interested in attending?"
Gary perked up, "It sounds like fun grandpa!"
Ash nodded, "Count me in!"
Red, "Aren't we a little old for camp?"
Blue, "Yeah old man!"
Samuel, "Brat! I could use some volunteers, you know."
Red shrugged, "Why not? I don't go on a journey till next four years have passed anyway!"
Blue looked at Red, "That's true! Fine old man, where are the papers we need to fill up?"
Samuel grinned, "I got a few copies in my office. I'll give them to you tomorrow morning."
Ash and Gary cheered at that and talked about all the fun and friends they could make during the camp. Gary talked about all the Pokemon they would meet and wondered if he could catch one in a pokeball. The results would be next week and the camp was two weeks later, it would be cool if he had a pokeball by then he decided. Ash yawned soon enough making Samuel declare it was bed time for the boys getting 'Awww's from the four of them. But none the less they wished each other and the older Oak good night before going to the rooms for sleep, Ash was bunking in with Gary while Red was with Blue.
