New Life

A month after the summer camp ended Ash presented his second book to the Professor aptly named, 'Hogwarts Chronicles: Secret Chamber!'. The three families had sat together one summer night and had read the book together making comments here and there but not much. Delia was delighted with the book and adored the large family with so many children and the over protective mother. The Professor was taken by the idea of a Phoenix burning day and wondered to himself if that is how the legendaries are born.

Samuel, 'It is a good theory and would explain why there is only one legendary. Hmmmm!'

Gary, "I really like the magical car, can you imagine having a sentient car that can take you anywhere?"

Axew looked at Gary who had said that and got a thoughtful look on his face. Riolu nudged him asking what's wrong to which Axew shook his head. Riolu looked at him dubiously but didn't pursue the matter.

Blue ruffled his Gary's hair, "Course we can, it would make travels easier, wouldn't it? I think I like the funky don't mess with me willow tree. That was pretty funny!"

Red, "I like the Quidditch match, is that how you pronounce Quidditch? The rivalry really kicked off didn't it? And the Basilisk, was it? I didn't see that one coming. I could have sworn you would put a legendary Pokemon there like Ho-oh, not create your own monster."

Ash nodded, "I'm glad you like it. I got the idea for the car from seeing the Professor's Ferrari and as for the tree it just happened. The Basilisk just seemed right to me."

Rose sighed from besides her son, "I'm honestly a little jealous of the Weasley matriarch. I wish I had more children and could give you more siblings."

Red looked at his mom, "Why not talk to Dad?"

Rose gave a bitter smile, "I tried Red, believe me, I did. You were a miracle for me but he is just not interested. He rather run his company and enlarge it instead."

Delia frowned, "I'm so sorry Rose."

Red sighed wistfully, "It would be nice to have more siblings or cousins."

Blue, "Yeah, I know what you mean."

Samuel cleared his throat, "Well then Ash, I'll send this draft to the editor for a final edit and checking then publish the book by the end of the week."

Ash grinned, "I would love that."

Samuel turned to the two boys who were almost at the age of going on a journey, "And boys! Congratulations! Your Charmander and Happiny finally evolved into Charmeleon and Chansey."

Blue grinned looking at Chansey who was playing with Riolu and Axew, "Thank you Grandpa!"

Red nodded rubbing the fire type's head, "We trained hard!"

Charmeleon gave a purr sleeping with her head on her trainer's lap and body over her trainer's mother's lap. Rose giggled as she ran her hand over Charmeleon's warm scales, the young fire type loved snuggling with her and Red. It was very adorable and she would get annoyed if anyone aside from Ash, Gary or Blue tried to disturb them. Bluntly speaking though Charmeleon considered Chansey and Blue as her nest mates and they were the older siblings, while Ash and Gary were the babies of the family, someone to watch over and protect and lastly Riolu and Axew were younger brothers. She had no doubt that Chansey felt the same way considering the way she treated the youngest members of the family most of the time. It was a very interesting behavior that the Professor observed thereby proving the fact Pokemon take on some habits from their human partners.

The rest of the summer was spent with Red and Blue preparing for the next year, the year when they would be going on their own journeys. The two had decided to journey not just in Kanto but also other regions that were open like the Orange Islands, Jhoto where Daisy was currently, Hoenn and Sinnoh. At the end of summer Daisy had dropped in gushing about how Ash's two books were very popular in Jhoto. The Professor let them know the books were being published in Hoenn next much to Ash's surprise. As it turns out the trainers that came from Hoenn recommended it to their book lovers back in their home region and they loved it.

Daisy, "It's a good thing you went to publish under a pen name. Or else the number of reporters who would bug you no matter where you go would be troublesome."

Ash shivered remembering how rowdy the reporters who wanted to interview Daisy had become, "Yeah! I don't think I ever want to go public."

Samuel sighed, "They are already bugging me to tell them who the author is, where are they from, why are they hiding... etc etc.. I told them the author was a private person of course."

Daisy, "But they are like Magikarp keeps on increasing!"

Blue, "Yikes!"

Red frowned, "They won't find out, will they?"

Samuel shook his head, "Oh no! The contract is solid and I even took precautions to make sure it was a typed draft not handwritten."

Gary, "I hope that works."

The year passed and at the end of the year Serena had informed the group she would be moving to Kalos with her parents as they got a great job offer there. The girls were a bit upset but brightened up and decided to do a farewell party for their friend. After Serena left things went back to normal yet not for Ash and Gary as they realized Blue and Red would be leaving for their own journeys soon enough. Ash sulked a bit when he was hanging out with Gary and Gary only gave him a sympathetic look before dragging him and the twins to get ice cream. The one thing that happened was Daisy had returned from her three and half year of journey and had decided to learn the strings behind being a researcher. On the day when Red and Blue were to start their journey the Professor called them to the lab.

Samuel, "Well boys I have kept an eye on the bonds you have with your Pokemon. I must say I'm quite pleased with the progress you made with them. As a reward I'm offering you two a choice between two eggs."

Red, "Seriously?"

Blue, "Aren't eggs rare and the ones from breeders costly."

Samuel nodded, "Yes, yes they are, however I believe you will not let me down when I trust you with these two."

Red took a blue colored egg, "I'll take care of them, I promise."

Blue took the dark green one, "Gramps thank you. This means a lot."

Charmeleon and Chansey looked at the eggs their partners had got before nodding and accepting them as part of their teams.

Daisy walked out, "Here boys, I got you both new strap on Pokemon egg carriers. It'll make things easy for you."

Blue looked at his sister, "You knew about this, didn't you? Sis correct me if I'm wrong but are these the eggs you got in Jhoto when you busted the poachers camp."

Red looked at Daisy, "Is he right?"

Daisy looked away, "Yes, and I really can't take care of them right now."

Blue, "D? Are you okay?"

Daisy smiled, "I'm fine! Why wouldn't I be? Anyways you have a farewell crowd waiting for you outside."

Blue looked out the window and sweatdropped, "Yikes!"

Red sighed, "Well let's go meet them. Ash and Gary will be upset if we sneaked out."

Blue, "Yeah.... D we'll talk after I return okay!"

Daisy ruffled his hair, "Sure sure!"

Outside Rose hugged both Red and Blue and told them to be careful out during the journey as there had been many news reports of trainers getting targeted by poachers and thieves. Red assured his mom they would be fine as he had Charmeleon while Blue had Chansey by their sides. He even promised her to try to talk to his Dad if he ran into him and maybe convince him to come home.

Rose shook her head, "No Red! What happens between your father and I is between the two of us. If you do run into him, try to get to know him. Do not worry about anything else alright?"

Red sighed, "Yes mom, if you say so!"

Blue, "Don't worry Aunt Rose, I'll watch Red's back if he needs help."

Rose nodded, "Thank you Blue!"

Ash, "Red good luck out there! I got this Oran berries for you and Blue both."

Gary, "Big brother I got these Chesto berries for you guys. Do your best out there..... Is that an egg?"

Ash, "Ah! Is that why the Professor called you to the lab?"

Red grinned, "Thank you for the berries you two and yes they are."

Blue took the offered berries, "A gift from both Daisy and Gramps. Thanks baby bro!"

They did a family hug which Daisy and the Professor joined in, they were watching from the door of the lab. Riolu and Axew joined in as well, Chansey and even Charmeleon didn't mind the hug this time. The two left for their journey after that farewell. Over the whole year Red and Blue kept in contact with them via video calls and letters. They had both run into a crazy group called Team Rocket and Chansey had evolved into a Blissey and Charmeleon into a Charizard with dark colouring instead of the usual orange colour making the Rocket grunts and supervisor look at Red in surprise. When the Professor heard that name he had become blank faced before ordering both Red and Blue to be careful and to not get involved with the group.

Although they were bewildered they nodded their heads and carried on with their journeys but unfortunately fate is a cruel prankster and they got involved with the organization more than once. Daisy had rushed to help them from time to time making Ash worry about them a lot. He didn't want to admit it but it looks like what he remembered about Team Rocket was completely different from who they are. Ash rubbed his head in frustration making Gary, Green and Leaf look at him in confusion but he was too busy trying to sort his memories while at the same time cursing the fading memories to notice. He was sure both Blue and Red became Champions but because they were traveling more than two regions, he was unsure now which region's Champion they will become.
