The next day Ash woke up to Gengar poking his cheek before the ghost type grinned and flew out of the room. Lucario yawned waking up beside him and Tyrunt grunted at waking up early. Phantump and Banette were already playing around with Gengar and Lapras outside. Ash was a little thankful for the extra amenities the League allowed trainers when it came to young non battling Pokemon. He had half worried he would have to deal with his youngest Pokemon's temper tantrums if they were separated.
Brock greeted him once he went to the dining area, "Good morning!"
Ash, "Morning everyone."
Misty, "Morning, two more days of battling one on one and then it'll be double battles."
Chloe, "Yeah, can't believe there are so many trainers taking part this year."
Tally, "There are give or take four thousand ninety six participants taking part this year."
Trisha, "Yeah, yesterday it was cut down to two thousand fourty eight."
Berk, "It'll be half of that today."
Gou gave an appreciative whistle, "That means out of the one thousand twenty four participants only five hundred twelve will be left for tomorrow."
Brock, "The League is not pulling any punches in eliminating the participants. No wonder the whole day the Nurse Joys were running around."
Ash, "It's just the third day today and everyone is stressed."
Misty, "Which is why we are having a girl's night out come Sunday and you are joining us, Ash. We all know you get stressed the most."
Chloe nodded, "Yeah, you have even started to get eye bags, it's not noticable but it's there."
Gou, "How about we just have a mega sleepover I think everyone could use a good de stressing."
Berk, "I'm down for a relaxing Sunday."
Tally, "In total we get to battle twelve times."
Trisha, "One battle per day per participant."
Chloe, "I'll call the others over later then. For now let's clean up and head to the centre."
Ash, "Mnn!"
Ash walked between Lucario and Gengar as he listened to the chatter of his friends, 'Warm day but cool breeze. Or maybe someone is battling in the ice arena already.'
The battles could start early as nine in the morning or around noon, depending on how quickly the arena could be cleaned. The workers who cleaned up were paid a decent amount for it and some of the trainers who were disqualified even signed up for the clean up crew. Ash figured it was a good way to keep most of the trainers busy and avoid trouble. He was pretty sure that seventy percent of the trainers were teens and teens and trouble went hand in hand. He snapped out of his musings when he heard the usual ding of the Pokemon centre and watched Brock pull out a Magikarp.
Brock, "I got grass this time and..... "
Misty, "Ah!"
Chloe, "Well it was bound to happen."
Paul walked up to them smirking, "Looks like we'll be battling early after all."
Ash nodded, "Hey Paul! I'm definitely watching your battle, it'll be awesome."
Gou, "Yeah, your turn Ash!"
Ash pulled his Magikarp, "I got ice field and it's against a trainer called Pete... Huh!"
Berk, "Ho! You got my cousin."
Ash, "Really? I'll give him a good battle."
Berk grinned, "My turn and.... Wind arena.. I am going up against Trisha. Looks like its time for us to battle."
Trisha smirked, "Indeed!"
Tally, "I don't know who to cheer for!"
Chloe, "Both?"
Gou turned to Paul, "How have you been?"
Paul, "I have been good, my opponents have not been much of a challenge, honestly speaking. This battle should be interesting."
Brock grinned, "I'll give you a good battle then."
Ash smiled, "Shall we get going then?"
Paul gave a smirk and his hand, "After you!"
Aah laughed and intertwined their hands together heading towards the wind arena where Trisha, Berk and Tally went inside. They had just finished cleaning the arena up after a previous battle and the audience were just starting to trickle in. Ash sat with the rest to watch the battle between Berk and Trisha.
Announcer, "Welcome folks to the third day of elimination. Trainers ready? Choose your Pokemon!"
Trisha, "Let's go Swoobat!"
Berk, "Let's go Vespiquen."
Announcer, "Start!"
Berk, "Air slash!"
Trisha, "Air cutter!"
The Queen of bees and the Unovan bat clashed causing a shock wave through the arena. Both sides were not backing down and separated before using agility to attack their opponent using the two attacks.
Misty, "Vespiquen looks so classy."
Chloe, "Yeah, really cool."
Brock, "Vespiquen is considered the Queen of all bug types so I'm not surprised."
Paul, "They are both powerful, I'll give you that."
Berk, "Aromatic mist!"
Trisha, "Retaliate with supersonic!"
The two attacks were wide ranged and despite clashing and cancelling each other out, some of the attacks still hit. Swoobat and Vespiquen both hissed at the hits annoyed at the stinging pain but ignored the slight confusion caused by it.
Berk, "Rain dance!"
Trisha, "Giga drain."
Vespiquen used rain dance to increase her strength but Swoobat bit her and drained some of her strength. Vespiquen shook her opponent off but the bat Pokemon had recovered just like her and the two of them clashed again using air slash and air cutter.
Berk, "Use hyperbeam, full power!"
Trisha grinned, "Gotcha! Use Aerial wing!"
Swoobat flew in an arc and Vespiquen aimed at her and shot the hyperbeam. Trisha grinned as the hyperbeam got closer to Swoobat but Swoobat dodged at the last moment. The bat Pokemon then hit Vespiquen with a powerful steel wing causing the Queen of bugs to crash to the field below.
Announcer, "Vespiquen is unable to battle! Swoobat is the winner."
Trisha, "We did it!"
Swoobat, ""Swoo swoobat!"
Berk, "Return girl, get some rest, thank you for the battle."
Vespiquen nodded, "Ves!"
Lucario, -They were evenly matched, in this battle the one with the better tactics won.-
Paul, "Agreed! I look forward to battling her."
Brock, "If you win against me, you will. Shall we go to our match?"
Misty, "I better run to mine it's in fifteen minutes."
Chloe, "I'll go with you."
Tally, "I'll join you with Trisha. Berk will probably watch Brock."
Ash, "It sure is exciting huh?"
Tyrunt grumbled, "Runt. Ty runt!"
Lucario's lips twitched, -You are still young, don't worry next region you are battling in the main circuits along with Lapras and Phantump. I had to wait six years before Meema was old enough to enter the battle circuit.-
Tyrunt blinked, "Runt?"
Lucario nodded, -Really!-
"Ash!"
Ash turned, "Ritchie!"
Ritchie grinned, "Hey everyone."
Misty, "Hey Ritchie, we are heading towards our respective arenas."
Ritchie, "Same here, I just watched Gary win another battle and I'm pumped up to win mine."
Ash, "Exciting right?"
Ritchie, "Very!"
Richie's Charizard, Zippo looked around, "Rrrwrr?"
Ash, "If you are asking about my Charizard, he is back at Professor Oak's lab. We are not allowed to bring that many Pokemon to the League. It's a strict six, despite the fact we can carry more during the journey."
Ritchie pat his partner as he grumbled something rude under his breath, "I know what you mean. My Pokemon were a little put off but they settled after I promised each of them one battle each."
Ash walked into the grass arena, 'I wonder if I'll be battling Jeanette, I have battled Mandy and am battling Pete later and both are from the anime.'
Announcer, "Welcome everyone, trainers ready? Choose your Pokemon!"
Brock, "Let's go Golem!"
Paul, "Stand by for battle Aggron!"
Announcer, "Begin!"
Paul, "Metal claw!"
Brock, "Withdraw and iron defense!"
The metal claw hit the iron defense with a loud clang which resounded through the whole arena. The audience winced as Aggron retreated and attacked again making the sound vibrate making a lot of the watchers a little uncomfortable. Aggron stopped after attacking five times and Golem appeared looking at him. The two Pokemon sized each other up before attacking again using rock slide and rock tomb.
Ritchie, "Whoa! The grass field is getting decimated."
Ash nodded, "Yeah half the grass got buried inside."
Gou, "This is awesome data, the Pokemon are turning the field upside down to suit them."
Brock, "Roll out!"
Paul, "Iron Head!"
The roll out was stopped by iron head with a loud bang that made Lucario wince and rub his head. Zippo looked at the Pokemon in the arena very interested as they tried to over power each other. Before anyone knew it Aggron had picked Golem up and body slammed him to the ground. Golem grunted before heading butting Aggron and escaping his hold.
Paul, "Patience Aggron!"
Aggron nodded, he knew his opponent was someone his trainer respected and therefore would not be beaten easily. The steel slash rock type had grown up with Paul and knew better than anyone else how many people his trainer actually respected. He could count them in one limb, his trainer's older sibling, the Champion, the human infront of him and the boy who is in Aggron's opinion younger than his trainer.
Brock, "Take down!"
Paul, "Wait for it Aggron be ready!"
Aggron nodded and took a stance waiting for Golem to get closer to him when Paul ordered, "Now! Whirlpool!"
Brock's eyes widened, "Golem!"
Aggron hit Golem with a powerful whirlpool soaking the rock type completely.
Brock, "Golem quick use fire punch."
Paul smirked, "Thunder wave!"
Aggron roared as he shot a powerful thunder wave towards Golem shocking him.
Announcer, "Golem is unable to battle Aggron is the winner."
The audience cheered, Ash and the others cheering the loudest for their friends.
Paul, "Are you alright Aggron?"
Aggron was panting but nodded, "Gron!"
Brock, "Return Golem, you were amazing."
Paul, "Good match Brock."
Brock, "You can say that again, that was fun."
Reporter, "Excuse me trainers, we have a few questions."
Paul looked indifferent, "One each, we have Pokemon we need to heal. Make it count."
Reporter, "Of course, so Brock the first question is for you. You are a young adult who went on a journey. Is there anything you would like to say to others like you?"
Brock, "Only this, if you habe dreams, go fulfill them. They are your dreams no one else."
Reporter, "A well thought out answer Brock. Now Paul, so what is your plan against the Champion who is taking part in the League?"
Paul frowned at the insinuation but answered, "I'll be bringing my strongest for them. I won't insult them by not planning properly. Now we need to go."
Reporters, "There you have it folks, two fine young men with big dreams."
Gou, "You good Ash."
Ash was vibrating on his seat, "It'll be fun to battle a Paul for that title."
Ash turned to Lucario and Banette, "We are gonna do our best."
Lucario nodded, -We will.-
Ritchie laughed, "Don't forget me."
Ash, "Of course not, we should get to our own arenas. I got the ice field this time."
Ritchie, "Electric field, Sparky is very excited."
Ash's eyes brightened, "Good luck Ritchie."
Ritchie, "Same to you Ash!"
Ash walked to his arena and greeted his opponent, "Hello Pete!"
Pete, "Sup Champion!"
Ash, "Just Ash please. Both of us are here as trainers."
Pete grinned, "Got it Ash."
Announcer, "Trainers ready choose your Pokemon!"
Pete, "Let's go Arcanine!"
Ash, "I choose you Butterfree."
Announcer, "Let the battle begin."
Pete, "Agility Arcanine!"
Ash, "To the skies Butterfree!"
Pete, "Flamethrower!"
Ash, "Use the ice pillars as shields."
Butterfree flew behind the ice pillars as Arcanine shot him with flamethrower.
Ash, "Psybeam!"
Pete, "Agility followed by Flame wheel."
Ash gave a smile, "That's one powerful flame wheel. Don't let it touch you Butterfree, use solar beam."
Butterfree dodged before attacking with solar beam, which was dodged by Arcanine. Ash kept an eye on the ice as it melted before nodding at Butterfree. Butterfree nodded back and attacked using poison powder which Arcanine retaliated with flamethrower to burn the powder. Butterfree used the attack again and soon there was a lot of water along with the ice.
Ash, "Now use whirlwind on the water."
Butterfree gave a cry and shot a powerful whirlwind towards the water before using confusion and creating a water tornado and attacking Arcanine. Arcanine was drenched after the attack ended and shivering from the ice water.
Pete, "Arcanine quick use over heat to dry."
Ash, "Sleep powder!"
Butterfree flew infront of Arcanine and blew a puff of concentrated sleep powder on his face putting him to sleep. Butterfree watched as overheat dried up most of the water from Arcanine's fur before nodding and flying to Ash's side.
Announcer, "Arcanine is unable to battle, Ash had won the match and going on to the next round."
Ash, "Good job Butterfree, that was awesome."
Butterfree trilled happily, "Creeeeee!"
Lucario, -Let's get out of here Meema.-
Ash nodded, "Before we get held back by reporters."
[A. N.: I can finally upload my chapter.
