Kanto - Indigo Plateau

The next day they were in the Pokemon centre getting their new assigned fields and opponents. Ash got the fighting arena and his opponent turned out to be AJ after all. His lips couldn't help but twitch a bit at that, looks like his Primeape will be battling first. Out of four thousand ninety six only two hundred fifty six would be participating in the secondary elimination rounds. It was quiet a turn out that's for sure, most audience supported their home trainers and trainers who gave an impressive performing. Misty pulled the lever that they were given in order to get a chip that would have information on her next arena and battle opponent.

Ash, "Looks like you got the water arena this time Misty."

Misty grinned, "I'm gonna win this. My Politoad has been itching to battle."

Brock who was manning the counter chuckled, "You would think Politoad is the battle nut not Poliwrath."

Misty snorted, "They both are trust me. They feed off each other."

Ritchie, "My turn."

Berk, "You got the ice arena. And against Mikey from Sinnoh."

Ritchie, "I heard about him, they call him Icy Mikey, right?"

Ash, "Icy Mikey?"

Brock, "He's training to be an Ice Pokemon Master."

Misty's eyes shone, "Looks like you got a really string opponent this time Ritchie."

Ritchie, "I look forward to battling him."

"Is that so? I am flattered."

They turned around and saw a dark haired young man almost the same age as Brock watching them. He had sharp blue eyes and was wearing a grey hoodie over blue T-shirt and pants. The Vulpix beside him watching them with a bored countenance got Ash and Misty's attention.

Ash, "Is that an Alolan Vulpix?"

Misty, "So adorable!"

Ritchie, "You must be Mikey."

Vulpix straightened at the praise though he acted like he was not affected, "Vul."

Mikey, "Why yes! I have seen some of your battles Ritchie. Very impressive. I look forward to battling you."

AJ, "Ash!"

Ash, "AJ, been a while."

AJ smirked, "It sure has been. We are not going easy on you. We watched your battle. We are bringing our best."

Ash grinned fist bumping him, "I expect an awesome battle."

AJ, "You'll get one."

Announcer, "Welcome to the first day of the second elimination rounds. The first set of trainers are requested to go to their assigned fields."

Ash, "We are up."

Ritchie, "Good luck Ash."

Misty, "You too AJ."

Ash and AJ nodded before heading to the arena that was designed as a large fighting ring. There were more people in the arena watching the match then there were on the first day. As the participants got eliminated, the number of matches happening simultaneous went down. The battles now got more audience watching them, then previously possible.

Announcer, "Choose your first Pokemon."

AJ, "Let's do this Hitmochan!"

Ash, "I choose you Snorlax."

Hitmochan looked at Snorlax with narrowed eyes and became gaurded, "Hit."

Snorlax looked at his opponent and nodded in respect, "Snor!"

Announcer, "Begin!"

AJ, "Focus energy and Bullet and Mega punch."

Ash, "Counter with Ice and Mega punch."

Hitmochan and Snorlax fought exchanging punches with each other, trying to dodge, getting hit and hitting their opponent. It was hard to say who had the upper hand between them, Hitmochan got in more hits thanks to Snorlax's larger size. Snorlax on the other hand whenever he hit Hitmochan it was obvious he did the fighting type damage and the part he hit would be covered in ice. They were well matched opponents and didn't give the other an inch as they exchanged blows.

Ash, "Hammer arm."

AJ, "Power up punch!"

Announcer, "How exciting, Snorlax can fight like a fighting type Pokemon quite well."

Snorlax used hammer arm which was met with power up punch and they heard a loud smack going through the arena. The two Pokemon were pushed back from the power of the two punches. The two Pokemon panted as they stood up ready to go and give it their all. The two trainers nodded at their Pokemon and called out one final attack.

Ash, "Metronome!"

AJ, "Brick break!"

Snorlax got up and started metronome while Hitmochan rushed to his opponent wanting to use brick break. Hitmochan hit Snorlax with brick break however just as Snorlax went down he shot the metronome which turned out to be a powerful vacuum wave. The two attacks hit both Pokemon and they fell to the battlefield unconscious.

Announcer, "Snorlax and Hitmochan are unable to battle. The first match is a tie. As per the rules trainer must win the next match in order to move on to the next round. If it's another draw then both trainers will be disqualified. Choose your next Pokemon!"

AJ clenched his next pokeball before throwing it, "Medicham."

Ash, "Thank you for the battle Snorlax. Let's go Primeape!"

Announcer, "Begin!"

AJ, "Fire punch!"

Ash, "Counter karate chop!"

Medicham attacked with the fire punch which was blocked by counter then Primeape attacked using karate chop. Medicham moved back but his legs were hit by the attack making him hiss in annoyance. He landed a bit further from the smug Primeape and narrowed his eyes at his opponent.

AJ, "Detect followed by Zen Headbutt!"

Ash, "Endure Primeape!"

Primeape nodded and moved as Medicham went after him and used his detect, to land a hit on Primeape. Primeape used endure and stayed strong despite the attacks while Ash got ready.

Ash, "Now Outrage!"

AJ's eyes widened, "Medicham protect!"

Primeape retaliated against Medicham with outrage and attacked him very viciously despite the shield. With the endure move Primeape was able to collect enough energy to power up the outrage. Medicham's eyes widened as his shield started to crack and Primeape soon broke the shield with the third outrage wave. Primeape followed it up with a seismic toss that threw Medicham to the arena with a loud thud.

Announcer, "Medicham is unable to battle, Primeape wins the match. Ash will move on to the next round. What a battle! Folks!"

Ash let out his breath before he was glomped by a happy Primeape, "Oooof! You were awesome Primeape. That was amazing."

AJ, "Thank you Medicham!"

Medicham nodded, "Medi!"

AJ, "Good battle Ash!"

Ash smiled still being hugged by Primeape, "It was, it's good to see you again AJ. It's been a while since we have seen each other."

Reporter, "Oh my, the two of you know each other? How interesting!"

Ash (｡ŏ_ŏ), 'Rude!'

AJ frowned, 'How annoying!'

Lucario looked at the adults who were talking to the camera darkly, -We should go, come Meema.-

Primeape nodded, "Ape primeape."

Ash nodded, "Let's go."

The two of them left ignoring the questions from the reporter stating they could do a press conference instead. They left for the Pokemon centre after leaving through the passage made for the participants. They gave their Pokemon to Brock who was waiting for the two of them grinning.

Brock, "That was really great battle there you two."

AJ smirked, "Of course. We can't have anything less."

Ash, "Thank you Brock. How are you holding up?"

Brock looked at Ash, "I'm good. What about you? The reporters didn't bother you much I hope. Those who are not participants aren't exactly allowed to be in the field. And even if we get called it's only when the battles will become lethal."

AJ, "We told them we can do a press conference. We are good."

Ash looked at the screen, "Hey Ritchie is up against Icy Mikey."

Lucario, -It should be an interesting battle.-

Ritchie, "I choose you Weavile!"

Mikey, "Come Glaceon!"

Ash's eyes widened, "That Weavile is a shiny! How handsome!

AJ nodded, "Ice vs Ice! This should be interesting."

Announcer, "Begin!"

Mikey, "Icy wind!"

Ritchie, "Use your icy wind!"

The two Pokemon used icy wind and the audience shivered at the sudden drop of the temperature. Ritchie gave a shiver, despite wearing an extra layer he could still feel the coldness of the environment.

Mikey, "Ice spear!"

Ritchie, "Ice shard."

Both ice Pokemon used the spear and shard to attack the other and the two ice weapons clashed making a crunching sound. The two Pokemon looked at each other before jumping away and attacking again.

Ritchie, "Hone claws and use metal claw!"

Mikey, "Ice fang!"

Weavile attacked after his claws shone from hone claws followed by metal claw, while Glaceon attacked with use fang. Thanks to the boost from hone claws Weavile was able to overpower Glaceon and hit him. Glaceon skidded through the ice arena before coming to a stop.

Announcer, "Glaceon is unable to battle, Weavile wins the match. Choose your next Pokemon."

Mikey, "Impressive, but it's not over yet."

Ritchie, "You good to keep on battling Weavile?"

Weavile nodded, "Weav!"

Mikey, "Let's go Glalie!"

Announcer, "Begin!"

Ritchie, "Again hone claw followed by metal claw."

Mikey, "Payback!"

The two Pokemon clashed but it was obvious Glalie had the upper hand considering he was still full strength. Weavile however did not back down and pushed against Glalie who gave an eye grin before shooting ice beam at the close range. Weavile was shocked but couldn't get away in time and was frozen to the spot.

Announcer, "Weavile is unable to battle, Glalie won the match. Both trainers are down to their last Pokemon. Remember if the match ends in a draw, both sides will be disqualified."

Ritchie, "Return Weavile, thank you."

Mikey, "Good job Glalie."

Ritchie, "You have an Alolan Vulpix right? Let me show you the Kanto evolution. Let's go Ninetales."

Mikey's eyes widened, "Magnificent."

Mikey's Vulpix who was at his feet agreed, "Vulpix."

Ninetales looked at his opponent, "Nine."

Announcer, "Begin!"

Mikey, "Ice beam!"

Ritchie, "Fire blast!"

The ice beam and the fire blast hit creating a fog which hid the Pokemon from the view as they attacked each other over and over. The fog grew thicker and thicker before Ninetales used Sunny day to disperse the fog and boost his strength. Glalie grunted annoyed at the heat before glaring at the fire type who looked at him coolly.

Ash, "So magnificent."

Brock's Vulpix joined the counter, "Vul!"

Brock, "My girl likes him."

AJ, "Magnificent and powerful. I kinda want one now. I don't care if they are Kantonian or Alolan Vulpix."

Ash, "I know what you mean."

Ritchie, "On to the ice mounds and use Willow O Wisp."

Mikey, "Powder snow!"

The Willow O Wisp and powder snow combined to create a beautiful orange and white sparkling picture. It was almost like someone poured orange and white glitter on the arena. Ninetales narrowed his eyes before jumping into the thick fog that had occurred and started to hunt. Richie's eyes widened realizing what Ninetales was doing and Mikey frowned seeing his opponent's reaction to his Pokemon.

Mikey, "Glalie quick blow the fog away."

Glalie nodded and used icy wind to get rid of the fog, he had shivered a bit earlier for some reason. It was not because of the cold at all.

Ritchie, "Now overheat!"

Mikey, "Move Glalie!"

Glalie flew to the left but Ninetales followed and shot a powerful overheat at Glalie at point blank range. Ninetales took Glalie put the same way Glalie took Weavile out by attacking at close quarters. The magnificent fox Pokemon sat back as Glalie fell and Mikey's Alolan Vulpix couldn't help but watch in awe.

Announcer, "Glalie is unable to battle, Ninetales has won the match. Ritchie will be going to the next round."

Ritchie cheered, "You were awesome Ninetales!"

Ninetales turned to his trainer and trotted to him nuzzling his cold cheek before frowning and covering him with his tales, "Nine nine nine tales, ninetales."

Ritchie, "I'm fine! I am fine. It's just this is the ice arena, we are bound to be a little cold."

Ninetales gave him a look, "Ninetales!"

Mikey, "That was an amazing battle. I am honestly very impressed by your Ninetales, my Vulpix too."

Mikey's Vulpix approached Ritchie's Ninetales and sniffed him while he was sniffed back in return. Ninetales wrapped his one tail around the ice type bringing him closer before walking towards the centre. Ritchie grabbed Mikey's hand and pulled him along with them as they were led by Ninetales out of the ice arena.

Mikey, "Extrasensory! Your Ninetales was using extrasensory, wasn't he?"

Ritchie nodded, "It's his egg move. He has been able to use it without a problem ever since he was a Vulpix. He has a bit of difficulty in using psychic type moves though."

Mikey nodded, "That's to be expected, some moves come naturally other moves are a little difficult."

Ritchie, "So where did you meet your Vulpix? I met mine in Cinnabar Island."

Mikey smiled as he told Ritchie his Vulpix was actually given to him as an egg and that he didn't know he was a Vulpix. He told Ritchie his mother was from Akala while his father was from Glacier town located near Snow Point city. They talked as they were led by a huffing Ninetales grumbling about humans who are irresponsible about their health.
