Kanto - Indigo League

Ash walked out of the centre with his Pokemon healed and Venasaur by his side as he got a break, "Next is semi finals and then the finals."

Lucario sighed, -I wish I could fight in the finals.-

Phantump grumbled, "Phaaaa pha phan."

Ash, "Next League or maybe even the Grand Festival we can."

Lucario tilted his head, -I hope so. I really want to show off my new form. The Festival sounds like the perfect place to do that.-

Ash grinned, "Right? I wonder who we'll go against, Ethan or Georgia?"

Lucario turned to the screen, -They are well matched.-

Venasaur simply wrapped his vines around their torso enjoying the break, "Saur vena."

Lucario looked at him enviously, -Yes, you are lucky indeed, you can take part.-

Venasaur simply eye smiled and Ash shook his head before deciding to go grab lunch for everyone from the many food courts. Over the years the food court had been expanded to accommodate an entire three storeyed building. As one floor of pokefeed was just not enough as proven by Red, Gold and Blue's Snorlaxes who ate the food courts clean when they were together at one point. It was a big bureaucratic nightmare for Lance and Mr Goodshow, although the latter didn't show it on his face. They had just simply decided to dedicated one building to cater food to Pokemon and trainers.

Venasaur enjoyed the pampering and attention his sweet trainer gave him, and although it still hurt, he could honestly admit he was glad his previous trainer abandoned him months ago. Over the last few weeks while learning healing moves he was required to meditate and balance his grass and poison type energies a lot. During one of those sessions he came across a very old memory from his time in the good Professor's lab as a baby Bulbasaur. He had been young alongside another Charmender and Squirtle, and he remembered a little raven haired boy and his brunette friend playing with him. They had done well in the Professor's test and the good Professor had allowed the five of them to mingle.

The Grass starter remembers having to play the peace keeper between Axew and a hot headed Charmender. The two fought to get the brunettes attention while Squirtle and young Riolu got along swimmingly. Both boys were still very young to be their trainer however and they were given to other trainers instead. He had been disgruntled as a Bulbasaur but was willing to accept it and get along with his trainer only to be back stabbed by him. Venasaur tightened his vine around Lucario and Ash's waist getting their attention.

Ash, "What's wrong buddy?"

Venasaur shook his head and nuzzled his front instead, "Saur vena."

Lucario, -If you say so.-

He half wonders if they remembered him but didn't want to bring up the past, it would bring back the bad memories too. And he knew, if Ash and Lucario realized, he was the same Bulbasaur they played with, the two would no doubt hunt down the trainer who abandoned him. They certainly were not gentle with Charizard, Togekiss and Pidgeot's trainer, hearing their stories were just so very satisfying though he was not there. Just this once, because he is now together with them again, he will forgive his old trainer, provided he doesn't abandon his other Pokemon as well. Venasaur got the gut feeling he was probably asking for the impossible.

Ash, "Hey Gold and Typhlosion won!"

Lucario, -Nice! That's very powerful flame wheel. Charizard will no doubt try to figure it out once he sees it.-

Ash chuckled, "Yeah, he will. Oh speak of the devil."

Lucario gave a sigh as a Shiny Charizard and Togekiss landed on the balcony of the restaurant they were in, -You two sneaked out again! Didn't you?-

Togekiss blushed embarrassed, "Kiss toge."

Charizard shrugged going to Ash and nuzzling him, "Zarrrrrrrrrrrd."

Ash rubbed Charizard's neck and Togekiss's feathers, "You are gonna give Professor Oak a coronary someday."

A familiar voice spoke, "You lot look like you are doing well."

Ash blinked, "Lt Surge! What are you doing here?"

Surge sat opposite of Ash, "Just returned from Hoenn, from a case. Thought I would drop in to see how you brats were doing."

Ash, "A case? Is it similar to what happened to my Pokemon?"

Surge, "Kinda only a bit more complicated than you lot."

Ash, "Can I have a summary? Or not allowed?"

Surge, "I can't tell you names but I can give a summary. Just like you a trainer found an abandoned Pokemon and helped them, but unlike you that was the only Pokemon they had who was previously hurt. No other Pokemon went through what they did so you can guess how possessive that certain Pokemon was after evolving."

Ash, "Errr.... Would my Pokemon have turned out the same way?"

Surge, "Maybe luckily they didn't, thanks to the support system you got going for them. Your friends were good help in making sure your Pokemon became stable here."

Charizards, Venasaur and Togekiss gave a shiver just thinking of how they would have turned out if they had not gotten help and care in time. They instinctively knew they were possessive of their pack and group and would destroy anyone who tried to take their family from them. To focus that way on their trainer only, yeah they could see it happening to them too, if they didn't have others who understood their pain. Surge noticed the shiver and look the three Pokemon gave each other and snorted.

Surge, "Don't feel bad about this kid. Shit happens and you never know how it affects you. What happened is Hoenn is one of the more possible outcomes."

Ash, "It's really sad though."

Surge, "We are just happy it didn't go beyond Pokemon taking off with their trainer."

Ash, "It could be worse?"

Surge, "There was a case ten years ago in Kanto, something similar happened only they ran into Team Rocket as well. It was not pretty, the Pokemon went ruthless on them and killed three members before they put him down. Of course the trainer didn't take it lying down and fought them to death. Oh Mew! Why am I telling you this?"

Ash, "Because you looked like you needed to rant and I offered to listen? It's okay, Lucario put up an aura shield around us. So literally no one has heard anything."

Surge snorted before changing the topic to his Pokemon and how the rest were doing, specifically Pidgeot and Blastoise. Ash perked up and told him about their wins so far and how Pidgeot learned U turn and Blastoise mastered ice beam. Surge motioned at the screen where it was shown he was going up against Jessilina during semi finals. Ash got excited at that, he would be able to go up against Jessie in a tournament.

Surge, "Ah! That woman you are traveling with, she's a strong poison type trainer."

Ash nodded, "Yeah! She is she helped me train with poison type attacks and defense."

Surge observed her, "Is she a Master of poison? Her knowledge and abilities are not of a normal trainer."

Ash, "She's good enough to get the title but she wants to learn more before she can accept it."

Surge, "Ah! One of those type of people. Well I better get back. Enjoy your time kid, I'll be watching your battle tomorrow."

Ash went to the field the next day, "Looks like we are finally battling."

Jessilina grinned, "Looks like it, I'm not going easy on you."

Ash, "I would be insulted if you did."

Announcer, "Welcome to the semi finals everyone!"

The crowd cheered and the announcer continued, "The semi finals will be a four on four battle. Winner will be decided when all the Pokemon on one side faints. Choose your Pokemon!"

Jessilina, "Go Dustox!"

Ash, "Beedrill let's go!"

Announcer, "Begin!"

Ash, "Agility and twin needles!"

Jessilina, "Moon light and silver wind."

Beedrill flew around Dustox using her Hugh speed as the moth Pokemon shot a combined attack. It looked like a contest battle was occur with Beedrill dancing around the silvery attack and Dustox using a flashy combo move.

Ash hummed and gave a smile, "Pin missile!"

Beedrill kept up the agility and changed her attack mode to pin missiles. Dustox gave a susprised shriek on being hit by small but painful needles. He shook the needles off and looked at the swollen area pouting.

Jessilina, "Dustox you good?"

Dustox gave her a serious look and nodded, "Tox dustox."

Ash, "Don't stop use sludge bomb."

Misty gasped in the audience, "Beedrill learned sludge bomb?"

Ritchie, "Looks like it."

Beedrill attacked Dustox using the sludge attack trying to hit him. Her sludge was more sticky then poisonous and despite not being lethal could still be a problem. Dustox realizing it dodged the attacks as much as he could.

Jessilina, "Quiver dance followed by whirlwind."

Ash, "Focus Beedrill."

Beedrill nodded and used focus energy while observing the quiver dance. At the right moment she shot another sludge bomb at Dustox hitting him. Dustox gave a cry as he fell to the ground, his wing were all sticky and his body felt an irritation from the sludge.

Jessilina, "Dustox try to focus on collecting energy from quiver dance, then use whirlwind to free yourself."

Dustox gave a cry and collected as much energy as it could before using whirlwind in close range. Instead of whirlwind what came out however was a powerful twister, Beedrill flew back and used her needles to pierce the ground and stand still.

Ash, "Rest Beedrill! You'll need it after this."

Beedrill nodded and used the move rest to recover her strength while the twister freed Dustox. Dustox panted after the sludge came off, the twister move used more energy then he had expected.

Jessilina, "Let's finish this, Dustox used Venoshock full power!"

Ash, "Endure!"

Beedrill got up from her rest and stood her ground taking the attack head on. The audience gasped at that and Ash's friends watched frowning wondering what he was up to. Dustox stopped the attack panting and Beedrill shook the attack off like it was nothing.

Ash, "Hyperbeam!"

Jessilina, "Dustox! Watch out!"

Beedrill shot a powerful hyperbeam hitting Dustox knocking him out.

Announcer, "Dustox is unable to battle Beedrill wins the match."

Ash, "Great job girl!"

Beedrill took a deep breath before she sat down buzzing in content, "Bzzzz!"

Jessilina, "Return Dustox thank you! This is not over yet. Come Frillish!"

Misty, "OMG so cute!"

Ritchie took out his pokedex, "I have never seen that one before."

Dexter, "Frillish: Male

A water and ghost type

They paralyse their prey with poison and drag them down to their lairs, never to return."

Ritchie, "Wao!"

Misty, "That's one terrifying Pokemon that I need in my group. How to find one?"

Ritchie, "It says it can be found in deeper parts of the sea and in Alola and Galar regions."

Misty, "Got it!"

Announcer, "Begin!"

Jessilina, "Water pulse!"

Before Ash could give an order Beedrill gave a huff and used U turn to return herself to her trainer's side. Ash blinked at her but shrugged as the announcer explained what had happened earlier. Bannette peaked through Ash's shadow and pulled at his pants making him smile.

Ash, "Of course you can battle Banette. Shall we bud?"

Banette gave a crooked grin bed the shadow elongated and crawled from Ash's position towards the battlefield. The audience watched a little creeped out yet curious about what Pokemon it would be when Banette came out laughing.

Jessilina, "A battle between ghosts, bring it on!"

Frillish looked excited, it had been a while since he fought another ghost, "Fril fril frillish."

Banette grinned back at, "Ban ban banette."

Announcer, "Oh my! It looks like we are gonna have a very interesting battle."

Agatha who was in the special seat beside Lance hummed, "The little one has grown."

Her Gengar nodded, "Gen gen."

Lorelei looked at her curiously, "You met Ash and the Banette before?"

Agatha sighed, "Yes, it was not the best of circumstance but I'm happy to see them pull through and going strong."

Lance, "This should be interesting, right Champion?"

Red who was quietly watching the battle shrugged, "Considering half the crazy situation Ash got into, I say this is actually very tame. Why are you so tense Yellow?"

Yellow, "I... It could just be my imagination."

Bruno raised his eyebrow, "What is it?"

Yellow squinted her eyes, "I thought I sensed a bond between Ash and Banette? It could be a fluke. I don't sense it anymore."

Agatha looked surprised, "A bond with a ghost type..... Oh dear!"

Red became sharp, "Will it cause a problem?'

Agatha shook her head, "If Ash and Banette are aware of it, yes. If not, it won't activate."

Yellow, "I don't think they are aware."

Agatha, "Then we are safe."

[A. N.: Should I put a warning rating on my book?

It doesn't go into detail with the dark elements, like murder, rape etc, but it does touch them.

If I put a trigger warning, which warning should I give? Any suggestions?]
