Jhoto - Blackthorn City

The next day the Gym was packed again making Ash sweat dropped at the intense interest in their Ace battle. But he figured he understood why the Dragon type specialists wanted to watch the battle between Tyrantrum and any high level Dragon type. His Tyrantrum was the first one in the Jhoto - Kanto region if the emails he got from many researchers were anything to go by. There was a reason that Professor Oak warned him to never send Tyrantrum over to the lab on his on after the first time. One of the visiting researchers had become a little to excited and Tyrantrum had buried her into the ground. It did not stop all the gushing from her however and instead went off a tangent about how powerful Tyrantrum's control was.

Referee, "This is an Ace level battle bbetween challenger Ash and Gym leader Claire. The victory will be decided depending on which side has the last Pokemon standing. Choose your first Pokemon."

Claire, "Let's go Gyarados."

Ash, "Snorlax time to battle."

Max sweat dropped at some of the grumbles he heard, 'Tyrantrum will appear in the last battle. Jeez! No patience at all.'

Casey, "Dragon lovers indeed."

Gou laughed quietly, 'Everyone is looking forward to this match.'

Referee, "Begin!"

Ash, "Hyper beam."

Claire, "Dodge into the water."

Gyarados entered the water as the hyper beam shot above it and hit the wall behind creating a hole through it. Gyarados was impressed by the sheer power coming from the normal type but that was expected from these types of battle. Well, he was no slouch either and appeared out of the water hearing his partner call out for a hydro pump. Gyarados happily obliged as Snorlax used icy wind, as his trainer had called for it. That icy wind was no joke either and froze his hydro pump creating an ice wall between the two Pokemon.

Ash, "Ice punch Snorlax."

Claire, "Dive to dodge quick."

Snorlax punched the ice wall that was formed and the ice pillar broke into pieces falling into the water. Gyarados grumbled as he dodged the pieces that flew towards him at high speed. That ice punch looked more like ice spears instead of an actual punch as the ice broke into smaller pieces falling in Gyarados's direction. Ash grinned and told Snorlax to dive into the water and swim to Gyarados with ice punch. The water Pokemon raised an eyebrow at that only to be surprised when Snorlax started to actually swim towards him.

Claire, "Gyarados use whirlpool to stop and trap Snorlax."

Gyarados nodded and started to create whirlpools that he sent towards Snorlax making him slow down on his path towards him. Snorlax was using hyper beam on those whirlpool making them disperse into the water in a sparkle of yellow and light blue. Gyarados had to give Snorlax his respect, using hyper beam so many times was not easy, it just went to show how strong the Pokemon was. Snorlax then hot annoyed of being delayed and punched the water using the ice punch creating a path towards Gyarados between the whirlpools.

Ash, "Tackle."

Snorlax grinned as he rushed towards Gyarados who moved away from the trajectory only for Snorlax to turn around just before he reached the other side. The water type narrowed his eyes and Claire called for rain dance and Gyarados used that to dodge the attacks. Ash was just waiting for Snorlax to get close to Gyarados and then called for a big snore from Snorlax. Gyarados fought against the snore move and fought hard to stay awake only to slap himself using tail whip on himself.

Claire, "You good Gyarados?"

Gyarados grunted and Claire called for another rain dance, it would give him the energy to stay awake. Ash had called for a belly drum for Snorlax so he could recover some of his own strength. Both Pokemon had been throwing powerful moves from the start and the strain was starting to show on them. Neither Pokemon backed down however and were eating to battle again after a few seconds. The crowd cheered at that getting excited about the fight and the two Pokemon went at it again fighting like they were not exhausted in the first place.

Ash, "Snorlax trail blaze."

Claire, "Gyarados dark pulse."

Snorlax dodged the attack and attacked Gyarados who dived in to dodge as well and then came out to attack. Ash was watching them as they moved around the battlefield, he knew it would not be easy to defeat Gyarados. But he was not expecting the fight to be this long, Gyarados was definitely dragging this fight, this would be a fight of stamina. Ash bit his lip as he looked around the arena that was littered with ice on the water and thought about a way to hold Gyarados. Ash eyed the platforms and got an idea on how to corner Gyarados and end the battle.

Ash, "Snorlax ice beam on the pool."

Claire, "Hyper beam do not let him freeze the pool."

Ash, "Icy wind between the pillars."

Claire, "Aqua tail."

Ash, "Climb on top of the largest ice pillar and use seed bomb."

Claire, "Wait, what?"

Snorlax climbed the largest ice pillar as if it was normal steps and released a seed bomb in the water. The seeds grew into leech plants rapidly and covered the area Gyarados was in clinging to him and absorbing his strength. At that moment Ash called out a take down and Claire called for a thunder wave. Snorlax had jumped and came down directly on Gyarados as Gyarados released a powerful thunder wave. It caused the water that was left to be evaporated into mist that covered that arena blocking the view. When the mist cleared Gyarados appeared sporting a painful looking hit on his head covered by burned up leech vines while Snorlax had electrocuted burns over his body.

Referee, "Snorlax and Gyarados are unable to battle. This round has no winners."

Ash, "Return Snorlax. Thank you buddy."

Claire, "Gyarados get some rest. You were awesome."

Referee, "Choose your next Pokemon."

Claire, "Go Altaria!"

Ash, "Let's go Wigglytuff!"

Referee, "Begin."

Ash, "Gyro ball."

Claire, "Fury attack."

Wigglytuff turned into a ball and rolled around the arena dodging the attack while trying to attack the flying dragon everytime she came close. Ash was eyeing Altaria however, he knew the dragon type knew fairy type attacks and wondered how much of a challenge Altaria would be. In Ace level battles there was no such thing as being over prepared, if anything it was more like you were not prepared enough to win. Just look at how hard Snorlax battled and yet he was knocked out cold in the end albeit it was a draw but Snorlax would not count it as a win. The normal type was hoping to win one ace level battle at least, guess he will have to pamper the big guy later on.

Ash, "Sing."

Claire, "Sing as well let's see who knocks out whom first this time."

Wiggly started to sing but Altaria was no stranger either and started to sing as well both Pokemon glaring at each other. The two females upped their strength of singing and the audience started to get affected by it. Max, Houndour and Charmender were yawning already despite being behind a safety shield. The shield could keep physical and elemental attacks at bay but moves based on status was slightly harder to block. Max had fallen asleep after a few seconds with Houndour on his lap and Charmender leaning on him on his right.

Lucario, -Meema is handling it fine.-

Gou yawned, "Probably aura at play. Claire seems to be doing okay too."

Casey slapped her cheeks, "She no doubt trained herself to deal with the effects of the song."

Kayeta pinched herself to stay awake, "And here I thought the first battle between Snorlax and Gyarados was intense. I guess the second battle will be just as intense."

Gou, "No kidding there. Just look at them go. It's like a singing competition only instead of out singing they are trying to knock out their opponent."

Reishi, "No kidding Sis. Altaria is not holding back either. Look our Pokemon are fast asleep."

True to her twins words both of their Pokemon were huddled together snoring away like there was no intense battle happening. The fact that they were awake was a miracle in itself even though their Pokemon had no problem falling asleep the trainers wanted to watch. After a while with Claire and Ash were starting to feel sleepy and decided to call out different attacks instead. Claire called for aerial ace while Ash called for icy wind making both Pokemon snap out of their competitive singing and attack. Wigglytuff used icy wind while Altaria used aerial ace to get ahead of the icy wind and attack Wigglytuff but the pink coloured Pokemon heard her trainer call out an attack.

Ash, "Ice punch."

Wigglytuff pulled her arm back and attacked Altaria head on using ice punch on her. Altaria winced at the ice punch but she noticed Wigglytuff had flinched because of the aerial ace as well. So they both caused damage to each other at the end of the day and separated with Altaria flying backwards and Wigglytuff stepping back to check her arm. She noticed the ice punch affected the dragon but even she was affected by the flying type move. It would not do, she would have to bring down the dragon female with her no matter how strong she is. Wigglytuff smirked at Altaria who stared at her incredulously, the little normal fairy type sure was spunky.

Ash, "Metronome."

Claire, "Quick Altaria before she finishes her call for metronome use dragon breath."

Altaria took a deep breath and released it but Wigglytuff also released the metronome as well which turned out to be moon blast. The attack cut through the dragon breath like it was nothing almost hitting Altaria who managed to dodge it by a feather. Wigglytuff giggled at the results and called out metronome again while Altaria attacked using dragon pulse. The second attack that appeared was an energy ball which hit the dragon pulse and both burst in shimmering lights. The fairy type was having fun and used the move twice more before the last one became a little dangerous with the twister and wild charge getting very destructive.

Max, "If this shield was not there we would be fried."

Gou, "Extra crispy."

Casey shuddered, "Please don't joke about that."

Ash, "Misty terrain."

Claire, "Fly up Altaria. Don't get caught in the middle of it."

Ash, "Moon blast."

Altaria looked at the mist below her frowning when she could not see where her opponent was located. The only reason she avoided a head on clash was because she moved away at the last moment, though her wing was hit. Altaria shook off the numb feeling and used twister to get rid of the mist getting annoyed by the hide and seek. Wigglytuff was waiting for this as she jumped in front of Altaria with ice punch intent on hitting her. Altaria used disarming voice on instinct making it a normal punch that landed on her.

Claire, "Altaria are you okay?"

Altaria nodded and the two ladies started to clash again in a heated battle using moon blast, misty terrain, twister and dragon breath. Ash frowned, having a type advantage really was no help against a Pokemon that has been trained to overcome theur weakness. This would take a bit of thinking just like the previous match between Snorlax and Gyarados. He eyed the battle and called for icy wind just as Altaria used twister again making the twister turn with ice particles. Altaria screeched at that getting furious at the fairy type who huffed at her rolling her eyes at the dramatics. Turns out Altaria was very proud of her twister attacks and promised pain for Wigglytuff who just told her to bring it on.
