Chapter 10: A simple scam to immortality

Meeting Emily was one thing that helped Derrick keep his mood in place but still the old mens in the compartment he was in on the train had somehow managed to effect his mood. It was one thing if there were women or anyone younger besides old men on the train,at least he could diverge his attention on something other then old men.

Derricks eyes was half open, dozing off while he stood amongst the crowd.

"The train has reached Sector-A, passengers are requested to get ready to exit the train" The pleasent voice of the female AI woke Derrick up. He had reached his destination, the company building was located in sector-A.

Derrick walked off the train which was cramped by people, the door leading to the platform was crowded as people rushed out as if there was no tomorrow, he too pushed his way out until he escaped the tides of people. The metro stations were constructed underground, Derrick would have to go up three level using escalators to reach the surface but it wasn't as crowded on his way up the stairs leading to the surface.

In the exit on the surface, Derrick could see people of different races returning from their job, every races strong or weak in the end had to still work and earn money for their livelihood, it was still a materialistic society, money still played a role in this technological advanced society. Only the truly strong and privileged enjoyed a comfortable life, status and money only served as an addition to their already undeniable power.

It was already dark by the time he reached his room on the company building, Derrick had walked a fair distance to reach the company building. It was only 10 minutes of walking distance from the station, he could have reached his home in an instant if he had used a passenger shuttle but he preferred walking. As soon as he reached his room, Derrick washed himself clean and instantly fell on his bed. He was clearly exhausted due to the test mentally more than it did physically.

"Sigh" his gaze landed on the view outside the transparent wall, it was still lively even though it was night. The city was colourful with lights and shuttles of varying size and types hovering everywhere, Derrick wondered what it was like when technology wasn't as advanced as it was now, he had learnt as he grew up that only "Life" existed in the primitive days but now with the invention of the ability to create wormholes and portals various energies began oozing out of the portals capable of leading to higher dimension. Higher dimension seemed to have various energies besides "LIfe". These foreign energies allowed "Life" to conserve and rejuvenate the almost exhausted "Life" making it abundant again. These had given all living beings with enough power or strength the ability to pursue the secrets of immortality. Now, lifeguards had managed to develop injections to fundamentally evolve genes to a higher quality , completely changing the nature of the body and power applicable to the one being injected.

Derrick processed the history in his mind, as his breath gradually became uniformed before a snore could be heard escaping his body.

"Beep....Beep..... Beep...Beeep...."

Before even getting into a dream, his holo watch lit up with notifications interrupting his sleep. Derrick had a clear frown on his face as he looked at the message that just arrived. The first notification seemed to be from the academy but the list below was from a person he didn't even know.

The name of the sender was elder grimoire. 'A scammer? What is with the weird name?'.

Derrick was curious even though he knew it might be a potential scammer. He ignored the email which might be his results from the academy as he opened the message from Elder grimoire. It was a normal message with only a file attached to it. Elder grimoire had spammed his message over and over again until Derrick eventually woke up.

The attached file had its cover shown, Derrick saw that it was the cover of a book and on it was written " A simple guide to Immortality " in an archaic font, his lips quivered slightly as he read the title.

"A simple guide to Immortality?....pffft" Derrick almost burst out laughing making even his drowsiness go away. Derrick found it funny, from the title he already knew it was a scam. It was not rare in this current age, there still existed scammers but this was Derricks first encounter with a scam and he knew this scammer was probably a newbie. And in this era to be an Immortal was what people desired the most, but they didn't have the secrets to become one yet. All they had made was serums that could significantly extend an individuals life span, along with power ups which depended on the quality of serum but still this was not true immorality yet and to be able to use this, one needed wealth and the required achievements that deserve this serum as a reward. People had discovered that immortality didn't bring eternal life at all, being immortal didn't mean an individual was unkillable or undying. Immortality meant that individual could be omnipotent, but if an individual was able to attain omnipotence then every one could. Hence, the battle between two immortals still could kill each other. To use the secret to immortality to scam people was ridiculously foolish and Derrick felt he would die of laughter if anyone was dumb enough to fall for such scam. And he was sure he would not fall for it even in thousand lives to come.

"Beep"

And the next thing he knew a new message had popped up, but this time there was a clear difference on the image. The book still had the funny title but the cover which was originally matte black with strange glowing inscriptions was now absent, only an image of girl was pasted on it. She was nude with only an unbuttoned shirt on, spreading her legs as if welcoming any horny male.

Without the slightest hesitation Derricks index finger touched the open button just below the book cover displayed on the holographic display.

Regardless of his prior conviction Derrick was still faithfull to his Johnson's desire in better terms he was a male driven by his dick. He was without a hint of doubt easily scammed.
