Chapter 75:

Now that negotiations with the Hokage were over, Fuyōna had returned to the hidden mist to start things on his end.

He didn't waste time in summoning the village elders and higher-ranking officials, including the daimyo and other lords.

The meeting would take place later that day. Thanks to Fuyōna's ice mirrors he could have everyone in the meeting as fast as they could get ready.

Fuyōna had already told Ao and Mei, who had reported to his office once informed of his arrival back in the village.

Mei had of course given him an ear full about him returning without telling anyone. She was, howeverz, pleased with the idea of an alliance with the leaf, with Ao being less so.

"I'm not disagreeing with you Fuyōna, I just don't trust those leaf ninja... especially those Uchiha, and that Danzo." Ao said as he crossed his arms.

"I understand we have a long and bloody history with Konoha. But this alliance is the start of a better change for our village." Fuyōna said, doing his best to convince him.

Ao couldn't see how, considering how well the village was already doing under Fuyōna's watch.

Still, he had never led them astray so far, and Ao owed his loyalty to him, never questioning him about the choices he made, even if they did seem strange at the time.

Sometimes he swore that Fuyōna could see further into the future than he could see with his byakugan, always doing the strangest things that ended up resulting in great outcomes.

Soon enough the rest of the elders and higher-ups of the village arrived, taking their seats in the meeting hall inside the Mizukages mansion.

All but the daimyo had arrived, and everyone awaited his arrival patiently, chatting amongst themselves as they waited with Fuyōna, who sat at the head of one end of the table.

Soon enough an ice mirror formed, signalling the daimyo had activated Fuyōna's seal and was ready to enter.

Everyone stood to their feet getting ready for his arrival, showing the proper respect.

However, they were quickly surprised as a young woman walked through the ice mirror.

She was dressed in a fine kimono, with her blond hair tied up professionally, standing tall and proud.

"Princess Mizuko?" Fuyōna thought as he watched her walk through his ice mirror, not having seen her for a few years now.

Mizuko made eye contact with Fuyōna and smiled at him as she took his appearance in.

"Greetings lord Mizukage." She said as she gave a slight bow, locking her eyes with his.

"Good to see you again princess," Fuyōna said, returning her bow.

"My father sends his regards, however, he is feeling a little under the weather and asked me to come in his stead. I hope that is alright?" She said, not taking her eyes off Fuyōna, something Mei noticed as she cocked an eyebrow at her.

"That's not a problem princess, I trust your judgment in our nations matters," Fuyōna said as he looked to everyone else, making sure no one had a problem with that. He then offered her a seat down at the head of the other side of the table, where her father would have been seated.

"Now that everyone is here we can begin." Fuyōna then said as he leaned on the table, interlocking his fingers.

"I would now like to inform you about a recent meeting that I had with the Hokage of the hidden leaf." He said, getting the attention of everyone.

"We have both agreed that it would be in the best interest of both of our villages to enter a peace treaty, and by extension an alliance," Fuyōna said, waiting to see the reaction of the others.

It took a moment before anyone spoke up, the first being one of the elders of the village.

"The leaf cannot be trusted! How could you agree to such a thing before consulting us?" He said.

Fuyōna had expected this kind of reaction from some of them and was prepared to let them voice their concerns to him.

Others slowly started to pipe up some agreeing with the elder, while others defended Fuyōna's actions.

Ao and Mei who were also present for the meeting both grew angry with the petty squabbling and Mei were about to speak up, however, someone beat her to it.

"Please tell me, elders... When was the last time you achieved anything for this village, or our nation?" The princess said, causing everyone to fall silent.

The elder slumped back into his seat, deciding to shut his mouth as he had no augment to lean on.

"I thought not." The princess then said.

"Lord Mizukage has the full backing of my father and the land of water. If he thinks this is the right thing to do, then who are any of you, who have not been able to accomplish anything close to what Fuyōna has in only a few short years. Who are you to stand against him?" She said, looking everyone in the eyes as she dared anyone to disagree with her.

Fuyōna smiled at her words and stood to his feet getting everyone's attention.

"Thank you, princess Mizuko. As Mizukage I must protect the village and its people. Everything I do is in regards to that duty. I ask you to trust my decision at this time, and of course, I ask for your loyalty."

Everyone nodded, knowing they couldn't disagree with his track record of strange decisions having paid off, speaking for itself.

"I know our history with the leaf is not tremendous. However, this will open up a new age of peace between the two of our nations. It is time to put the bloodshed behind us, and look to the future."

Everyone agreed, remaining silent before the princess too stood from her seat.

"It's settled then. I shall inform my father of your actions and leave the rest in your capable hands." She said, giving him a smirk.

"Thank you, princess, and please give your father my regards," Fuyōna said before he summoned an ice mirror for her.

Princess Mizuko nodded and made her exit, leaving them alone before the ice mirror faded.

"Does anyone else have anything to say?" Ao added, making sure there was nothing else.

Nobody spoke up and Ao was happy to bring the meeting to an official close.

"Very well, that concludes the end of this meeting." He then said for the official end time of the meeting to be noted.

Fuyōna thanked everyone for their time, knowing that not everyone was happy with his decision. He only hoped that it was his track record that kept their confidence in him, and not his power.

Although needed, he didn't want to rule through fear like the other Mizukage before him.

Soon enough everyone left, leaving Ao and Mei alone with Fuyōna.

"I'm glad that is over with." Fuyōna said as he turned to Ao and Mei, breathing a sigh of relief.

Mei suddenly walked up to Fuyōna and pinched his ear, squeezing hard.

"What the hell Mei!" He said as he felt the pain explode through his face.

"And when did you become all friendly with the princess?" She said as she let go, placing her hands on her hips.

Fuyōna gave a nervous laugh as he tried to defend himself.

"Wait it's not like that Mei!" he said waving his arms around.

Ao could have slapped himself in the face as he watched the pair acting like children before him.

"If you two are done." He said as he cleared his throat, getting their attention.

"We should take the nessacery steps to put this new agreement with the leaf in place." He then said.

Mei nodded, turning professional once more as she turned to face him.

Fuyōna rubbed the back of his head laughing a little before he too got serious again.

"Yes Ao you're right. I'll leave that to you though." He then said, getting a surprised look from both of them.

"I have some things I need to keep an eye on at the moment. Can I leave the details for you to oversee?" Fuyōna asked as he turned to Mei and then Ao.

Mei couldn't stay mad at him when he looked at her with his puppy dog baby blue eyes.

"What on earth could be more important?" Mei asked, giving in to his request.

"That's a secret." Fuyōna then said giving her a wink.

Mei sighed as she gave in.

"Fine, but at least go and see the babies before you disappear on another of your adventures.

Fuyōna laughed before he stepped closer to her, kissing her.

"Don't worry Mei, I'll stay out of trouble." He said holding her.

Mei nodded back to him, smiling as she hugged him before she let him go.

"I hope so." She said before she watched him slip into an ice mirror.

Ao remained silent with his arms crossed before he turned to Mei.

"We had better get started, this could pose quiet a lot of paperwork for us." He then said, getting an angry vein to appear above Meis head.

"That man. I swear I'll make him pay when he comes back!"
