Chapter 4

Rin had her hand on his face as she looked into his deep brown eyes so unlike her own blue. She was lost in them for a second and She couldn't think. She had no idea what she really wanted, but she did know this one thing, Yukimura was not only safe; she wanted him there in her life for as long as she could think of it being. It was in that second she realized this it showed and Yukimura was slightly confused at the lack of her talking and the fact she was staring at him.

"What is it?", he asked. He could see she was thinking of something. It looked like it bothered her as well. He would do anything to keep her happy. He wondered if she knew that or to the extent he would go if needed. He had felt that way since the day he walked into the hospital room four years ago. She had been lying on the bed and watching television when he had. She had been a younger version of her mother. All the men on the team even the few that were younger than her mother had all admitted to thinking she was attractive on some level though she had kept her distance and wore things that were not flattering to her. When he saw Rin though any thoughts of her mother flew away. She was everything he could possibly want, but the fact was she was hurt and still scared though she never really let that show.

"Yukimura do you like me?", Rin asked as she moved closer to him.

"You are here aren't you?", he asked as if that was an answer.

"I mean it Yuki.", she said still inching forward to the man in front of her.

"Rin what is this about?", he asked now concerned at the turn of events. He was sure she would walk into the apartment and then take over the game system and try to beat him like she always did. However, this was not how he had thought the events upon her entering would go. He didn't know how to respond. He knew what he wanted, but he also knew he was likely to blow it. He wasn't good with words. He was good with actions, but some actions would also blow any chance he had, and he knew he only had one real chance to get everything he wanted for the past four years.

"Dad and I just talked.", she said with a sigh.

"About?", he asked wondering what Mitsuhide had said to the girl.

"Us." She replied. She was now inches from him. It took everything he had not to reach out and seize her and bring her crashing into to him.

"What about us?", he asked again.

"If there is an us, to begin with.", she said with a smile.

"What do you mean?", he asked hoarsely.

"Yuki you have never tried to kiss me.", she said softly.

"Because you were still hurting.", he replied equally as soft. He reached up and touched her soft face as he brushed his fingers against her cheek.

"Is that the only reason why?", she asked.

"I didn't want to scare you.", he said almost on a whisper.

"You don't scare me Yuki.", she said as she pressed herself closer to him.

"Rin do you want me to kiss you?", he asked. He held his breath and hoped beyond hope that she would answer quickly.

"You know I have never really been kissed?", Rin asked. "I am twenty years old, and I have never been kissed."

With those words, everything in him snapped. The wall of self-control he had fell down and was surrounding the two of them. He bent down and touched his lips to hers. The slight pressure of his lips fed a desire that he buried so long ago. It was everything in him not to go faster. He was trying not to push but to give her what she wanted. When he stood back up her eyes were still closed as she sighed. She opened her bright blue eyes, and he saw the awakening in them. He couldn't help himself as he smiled and then kissed her again.

When he was done with the second kiss, he stood before her again as he watched her seem to awaken and change right in front of him. He could watch this for the rest of his life. The thought shocked him for a split second. He then remembered how fast Mitsuhide had moved when it came to Kit and he smiled. He now knew exactly why. He had never thought they would be standing nearly toe to toe like this, but he knew in this moment it was exactly what he wanted for the rest of his life even if that meant Mitsuhide was his father in law and Masamune was going to be his brother in law. He wanted Rin forever.

"Yukimura?", she asked softly.

"Rin.', he responded.

"Thank you.", she said, and he was shocked. He didn't know what that meant. He was trying to find something in her that would tell him. She was still standing there looking at him.

"For what?", he asked as he was trying to read her.

"The kiss dummy.", she said as she lightly punched him on the arm. "It answered the questions I had."

"Which were?", he asked as they both moved to the couch where he had set up the game and had the paddles laid out.

"If you felt the same.", she said.

"And do you think I do?', he asked.

"I know you do, idiot.", she said with a smile. "I always knew."

"What is that supposed to mean?", he asked as he sat down next to her on the couch as they both picked up the paddles. They were starting the game, and she turned to him.

"Yuki you have always been something more.", she said, "You weren't a friend really. You weren't something else either. I just needed to know how you felt."

"Why is that important?", he asked.

"Because if you felt something, you should have told me, dummy.", she said with a smile.

"I couldn't.", he said. "You were too young for me to like you in the beginning, and there was the incident in the first place. You needed a friend, not a would-be boyfriend."

"Is that what you wanted to be?", she asked with a surprise as she turned to him.

"Yes.", he said simply, and she looked at him with wide eyes and an open expression. "I wanted to be that and more."

"You did?", she asked. "How come you never said anything?"

"Because you were too young because you are the daughter of my teammate because I was scared you wouldn't like me like that.", he said as he put the paddle down in his lap.

"I was too young, you do realize that Mom is my aunt and not my real mother and Mitsuhide is my uncle and adopted father right?", she said as she looked at him.

"That doesn't change much.", he grunted out.

"The last one. I didn't know how I felt Yuki. I knew I liked you and I did see you as a friend of sorts. You weren't like the rest of them, you know. I could easily see them as uncles in a way. You were just something more. I had no name for it then, and I really don't have a name for it now. It was just something different.", she said as she looked at him.

"What are you saying?", he asked as he also put the paddle down and he looked her over.

"Yuki, what do you want us to be?", she asked.

"You're the smart one.", he said simply.

"That doesn't answer the question.", she stared at him. She reached over and took his larger hand in hers, and she placed hers over his as well. "I am trying to be serious."

"I know that Rin.", he exclaimed, "I just don't want to say the wrong thing here and screw it up."

"You can't screw it up by saying anything. Yuki do you want us to be something more or do you want us to stay like we are.", she asked, her eyes peering at him as she tried to force him to bring his feelings to the table and deal with them.

"Rin, don't do this to me.", he said softly.

"I understand.", she said as she let his hand go. She turned away from him for a minute, and she could feel her heart breaking. She didn't know it would hurt this much otherwise she would have never thought to try. She was going to go for her phone.

"What are you doing?", he asked.

"I'm going to call my dad.", she said, "To come and get me. I will stay at the house instead of bothering you."

"Like hell you are.", he said in a way that almost scared her.

"What?", she asked softly still trying to keep it together and not cry from the pain in her chest.

"Rin, you aren't going anywhere.", he said as he stood in back of her now as he placed his hands on her shoulders and turned her around. "You don't understand. Rin you can't understand any of this. I don't understand any of this. I tried to live as your friend. I can't just be that any more thanks to your pushing. I want more. I want so much more."

"You do?", she asked as she looked into the muddy brown of his eyes and she saw everything right there in front of her.

"Yes.", he said as he kissed her again this time letting go of the horses in his mind. He had to let her see even if it meant losing her forever. The kiss took both of their breaths away as they stood in the tight fit of his apartment. His hands found their way to her back and tightened his hold on her, and somehow she had lifted her arms and placed them around his neck. When he lifted his head from her mouth, they both saw the other for everything they were and everything they both wanted to be. The curtain had fallen, and they both smiled at each other.

"Mitsuhide do you think this plan of yours is a good idea?", Kit asked as she handed him a bottle for the baby.

"Of course it is.", he stated. "Rin completely understood what I was doing, and I think she was ready. Somehow we have really smart kids that can't be swayed by a plan to make them see reason."

"They knew?", Kit asked as she settled into the couch with their youngest child.

"Rin did.", he replied. "She saw right through everything, and I have a feeling her, and Gabbie were talking as well. Which means Gabbie knew as well."

"Well, they do know you.", Kit said with a laugh as she looked at the baby in her arms. "Hopefully set two will be as smart as their sisters."

"Of course they will. They have a brilliant mother.", he said with a grin.

"I told you not to look at me that way again.", she said.

"I can't help it, my love.", he said. "I have a beautiful wife and some really wonderful kids."

"Well, flattery will get you nothing at the moment.", she said with a smile.

"Pain in the ass.", he said under his breath.

"Yes, you are.", she replied. "Now will you take Alex so he will eat. All he does is fight me. I need to check on the twins and Matthew."

"Sakura and Joshua are upstairs asleep. Matthew is with Boogs.", he said. "I already checked.

"Why are the devil twins sleeping already?", she asked.

"They didn't really take a good nap earlier.", he said. "I think they are both growing again and flower may be coming down with a cold."

"So what you are saying is the kids are fine, and I should relax?", she said with a smile.

"I can handle anything that comes our way tonight.", he said with a smile as she leaned her head on his shoulder and looked down at their youngest child. "Go rest. You are growing another baby, my love, and this is going to be a busy weekend."

"Don't do anything without telling me.", Kit said as she stood up and walked upstairs.

"Alex did you hear your mother tell me not to do anything as if I would.", Mitsuhide said as he looked at the baby in his arms. He smiled when his son smiled back as if he already knew that his father always did something without his mother knowing.
