Chapter 5

Tequila's POV

3:39 am and I can't sleep. Pettiness kills.

I suck in my pride, slowly going to his room only to find out that Ace wasn't there.

Furrowing my eyebrows I was about to check the office when the front door swung open, laughter filling the room.

I freeze watching as Ace walks in with frog clenched to his hands, grin wide.

"Where have you been? Can I hear the joke too? What the fuck is this?" I interrupt hands on my hips and they both stop in their tracks.

"Tequila?" Ace calls, surprise crossing his face while Helga has that stupid smirk that I want to wipe off her face.

"Shut up." I snap angrily, blinded by anger and jealously. "I'm so sick of your crap, you've been here less than a week and all you've ever done is— ughhh." I quickly avert my eyes, trying to calm my breathing.

"Baby, it's not—"

"I don't want to hear from you! We argued and instead of trying to work it out with me, you go out at whatever time and come back at 3 in the freaking morning with some woman!" I quickly stalk to the kitchen, ignoring all rational thoughts before swinging open the fridge door.

"Babe I need you to calm down." I grab a bottle of water throwing it at them.

"Stop that!" He yells as Helga screeches and

I

Am

Livid.

"You're defending her?! What're you doing out at three in the morning Ace!" I tap my foot impatiently. "With her! Are you stupid? You must be stupid." I snort to myself, and my eyes find the wine glasses as I share at them.

"Tequila, we were hungry so we went out for food. . ." Helga speaks up

One moment.

"Bitch, I said wasn't booboo the fool but yet you keep testing my patience." Eyes trained on the glasses. "I let you stay in my house and all you've ever done is try to be all snug with?my?husband. The fridge is filled with freaking food! Why the heck are you two up at the same time? Ace? What did you two walk-in hand in hand, miss me with that bullshit, my ass is tired of you. It's done." Sadly, I'm short so I have to place one knee on the counter lifting me as I grab the wine glasses.

"Hey!" Ace comes around the corner but I'm quick throwing the glass at her head, it misses but not by much as I start screaming profanities. I grab two others as Ace lifts me off the counter, and I throw the two, one by one. One catches her back

and the other misses.

"Ow!" She yells running away.

"Get out of my house while you're at it! I will burn your clothes sis—"

"You need to calm down."

"Don't touch me." I snap, slapping his hands away.

"You're overreacting."

"You don't go places with some woman from your childhood." I quote all the words. "At three in the morning. You're supposed to be I'm bed, snoozing away, or thinking about me, not with the frog."

"We didn't do anything."

"I." I tilt my head. "Don't." I blink. "Care."

"What do you want me to say?" He sighs.

"Get her out of my house." I grit my teeth and he licks his lips.

"I will soon. I'm helping her Tequila—"

"Ok." I cross my arms staring straight ahead.

"Tequila, I don't —" but I'm up, ready to retreat to my room until he grabs my arm, I try to move away but he's stronger pulling me to him.

"Don't touch me." I murmur, struggling against him.

"Stop being mad at me, let's talk about it."

"Oh, now you want to talk," I mumble grumpily but I guess he stays quiet to calm my nerves.

"You were cheating? All along?" My voice breaks as I stare at the man who had claimed to love me not too long ago. He held the other woman to his chest as she frowned at me.

"I wanted to tell you."

"When?" My eyes filled with tears, I run a hand through my hair as he stares at me with pity.

"Grey—"

"No Tequila... I'm?not?happy with you." He sighs and my heart finally falls through my chest.

In other words.

You're not good enough.

"Hey, why are you crying?"

"I'm not crying." I sniff, keeping my face planted into his chest.

"I didn't mean to hurt you, baby, she insisted on going out to get something to eat and you know how she is. Don't cry." He hugs me tighter.

"I'm not crying because of you," I? admit. "Seeing you two together just triggered some... bad memories."

"I promise you nothing is going on between us. I'm all for you, you should know that. Don't you trust me?"

"I do Ace but how would you feel if I was hanging out at this time,?holding hands, with some male that you know that has been trying to get personal with me?" I look up at him and he nods.

"I'll help her look for an apartment." He states.

"No. I'll do it."

"After you almost gave her a brain heart attack? I don't think so."
