Chapter 28

The rehab center was slightly better than a hospital.

It didn't smell overwhelmingly of sanitizer, and it seemed warm, almost homey. The lobby was carpeted, and the desk where the secretary sat was made of wood that was a warm brown color. She looked up as the chime informed her somebody had walked in. She was smiling the second she saw us; Kisten and I were constant visitors.

"There you are. You're late," she teased.

Surprised, I looked up at the clock, and laughed."I don't think those two minutes will make much of a difference to Alice."

"You'd be surprised," the nurse said, as she pushed the guest book toward me."That girl waits all week to see you guys."
