"Aaron Everett is a magnet for bad luck. It's his first day as a scholarship student at elite Sherwood Academy, home of the children of the rich and famous. Being the only poor kid is bad enough- not having the 'unofficial' uniform everybody is wearing makes it worse. Top it off with a bully, a broken bag, and an odd interaction, and officially his first day has gone to hell.

Aaron laughed, delighted, as the boy she had thrown herself at swept her up in his arms and swung her around. He set her on her feet carefully and searched her eyes, a wide grin making his amber eyes glow. "You wouldn't believe how much I've missed you," he sighed, making her giggle, before he pulled her in for a kiss.


Benji's jaw dropped, and his hands clenched into white-knuckled fists as Aaron's eyes fluttered closed- even if only for a moment, she enjoyed the press of that strange boy's lips on hers.


Then she pulled away, slapping the boy's chest playfully. "That's no way to behave!" she said laughingly, her warm brown eyes bright. She barely had to look up at the boy to look into his eyes, as they were nearly the same height, and his smile set off hers the same way his light brown hair made hers look darker and richer; they made a good pair, and the girl who stood slightly behind them was smirking in a way that said she'd always known that.
