The Hunter and The Prey

reception area of the floor which is owned by our class.

These past few days were normal and it's getting boring and pissing the hell out of me. It's another Saturday so I am free again but this just makes my boredom complicated.

I want to do something yet I am too bored to do anything.

Lily, Delora, and Virgo aren't here for some reason. I think they went out to go shopping since I rejected the offer yesterday while the latter, the guys... I don't see them go out often.

Even Brian and Theodore were surprisingly bedroom people and rarely go outside.

I breathed heavily and tried to think about something that I can do since I'm not busy.

"Violet."

I stood up from the sofa and turned to whoever called my name. It was Aaron and he looked like he just arrived. I didn't know he was outside. He's wearing an all-black outfit and walking towards the hallway at the opposite direction of our hallway which leads us to our room.

"What is it?"

He stopped before he can even leave the reception area and he looked at me. "The class representative of class A is looking for you outside the floor." He said and walked away.

My head tilted and a question mark popped above my head. Class representative? Class A? Who is it?

To answer my question, I decided to see whoever was looking for me. I'm curious why would a class representative would even look... for me...

"Jirile?"

She looked up from staring at the ground when she heard my voice. Her stoic face didn't budge at my presence but she bowed to give me a greeting.

She tucked her loose strands of hair behind her ear and fixed her eyeglasses. "Can I talk to you?" She asked.

I tilted my head again. "You're a class representative?"

She blinked and eventually looked sideward, avoiding my gaze. "I was picked before you can even tell us to lay low." She mumbled and I almost can't hear her.

"And why didn't you tell me?"

She looked to the other direction while avoiding my gaze again. "You were having a moment as you give us your orders. I didn't want to ruin it."

I stayed silent.

What? Why? Come again?

If I can, I could've smacked her head but I don't want to waste my energy just for that so I just sighed my disbelief. She's unbelievable.

After a while, she finally looked at my face. "The guy who just entered earlier..." She started and I rested my hands on my hips. Is it Aaron? "He was quite rude. You should get rid of hi—."

I immediately went to her and covered her mouth. This girl! What if someone was eavesdropping and heard the thing she said? We might be reported and the school officials might cancel our permit!

"Calm yourself Jirile. You can't just kill everybody here." I whispered to her.

This girl has been so comfortable when killing to the point that she doesn't even feel regrets about those poor lives that she took because they provoked her.

Her eyebrows met. It must've annoyed her but the good thing is she can't lay a hand on me. As if she'd get to lay one on me anyway.

I removed my hand from her mouth and tapped her shoulders. "What is it? Why are you looking for me?"

Her annoyed expression faded when she seemed to remember why she was looking for me. She cleared her throat and stood firmly in front of me. "Kesha is..." She stopped and scratched her head, hesitating if she should continue her sentence.

"Is what?" A human? Wow. I didn't know.

"She seemed to see another... prey."

I went silent after hearing the last word that she said. It felt like it kept on repeating like an old record in my head and I was beginning to sweat underneat these bandages.

Prey. Oh, shit.

I facepalmed and shook my head. That Kesha...

"Where is she?" I asked.

"She's currently stalking her prey."

"Stalking, huh." I laughed awkwardly and exhaled. Maybe this is the moment where I should make a move after my continuous complaint about having a boring week.

But isn't this too much? "Did you try to stop her?"

"You know that no one from us can stop her."

I felt my energy draining at just the mere thought of catching a wild Kesha running around the school. "What else? What bad things do you still have there? Please say that you already said it all."

"Actually, there's one more thing to say."

I grunted. Why did I ask again?

"The prey that she has her eyes on now..." I feel like that pause is the longest pause that I ever heard in my entire life. "Is none other than your classmate named Vantel."

I mentally felt slapped on my cheek hard and harsh. Now she did it! The worst-case scenario!

"That guy isn't even attractive." I pointed out. Using a disagreeing tone.

"You've never been able to differentiate an attractive and ugly person. You don't pay any attention to the faces." She pointed out too which made me silent.

"Am I like that?"

Was I?

"You're always like that."

Then a long silence brewed between us.

I stepped on the green grass while we roamed around the school to find Kesha who's been running around and her prey.

Where did she go and what the heck did she see at that Vantel? She liked attractive guys and I don't even think that Vantel is that... attractive. What the hell did that Vantel do to hook Kesha like a fish?

"Why don't you just find Kesha by her magical energy? You can locate her just by what you did on finding Althea before." Jirile said.

"I use that for finding someone or something. Not for stopping some wild beast running and stalking some guy."

"So, Kesha's now a wild beast in your view, huh?"

"You know how crazy she goes when liking someone," I said and pushed my hair back. "Like how she went crazy over some guy before."

Jirile blinked and looked at the sky as we walk. "He's not even that attractive..." She mumbled. I didn't even know if she's still looking around or she's just gazing around.

"You're saying that you're not attractive too." I pointed out.

"I don't mind being ugly." She said and fixed her glasses. "As long as I'm not like some bitches in this world."

I just shrugged and continued looking around. Where the hell did Kesha go? Did she go underground because Vantel killed her for stalking him? I should have offered her tea before passing away at the hands of her prey.

"She's there!" Jirile whispered to me and pulled me not too far away from Kesha who's been hiding up on the tree.

She's holding some leaves away from her eyes just to see Vantel leaning on the tree across her as he reads a thick book with one hand.

We were in the area where trees are being grown. This is the part where some training took place. The forest terrain. Why are they here and why is Vantel reading a book in this place? Doesn't he know we have a library in the building? And why go out of his room just to read?

Jirile sweat dropped as she took a look at Kesha's face. "I can clearly see her eyes making a heart." She said. "She really likes that Vanvel guy." She added, not realizing she said the name wrong.

"Really?" I uninterestedly asked. "How cute. A poison for a curse." I said.

"Huh?"

I ignored Jirile and just whistled. Kesha attentively turned her head to my direction and her eye widened when she saw me.

She anxiously went down the tree without making any noise but Vantel noticed her. He watched Kesha running to me with her red face. She blushed so hard that I almost see her as a tomato.

That's what you get from stalking. Do your work!

Kesha felt like crying when she arrived in front of me. "Why did you do that? He noticed me!" She sniffed.

This girl... "Well, let me remind you to do your work rather than stalking somebody who would poison you." I meant it. Literally.

"Having a crush isn't a big... deal..."

"Yeah, right." Jirile and I said in unison. "And why Vantel of all people?" I questioned.

She frowned. "He's handsome and cool... and... likes books."

"You don't even like books." Jirile pointed out.

Kesha flinched and put her index finger on her lips. "Shh! I'll try reading a book after this."

"Do you work first." I butted in.

"Finally, you stopped getting wild!"

We all turned to Ginger and Herlye walking in our direction. Ginger waved at us while Herlye bowed to greet me. When they arrived here, Ginger went to smack Kesha behind her head.

That must have hurt since it made such a loud thud. And there, Kesha started whimpering like a dog.

"Isn't this the first time we've gathered outside the school?" Herlye said. Her face lightened up a bit. She seemed to like that idea.

"You're right. Violet doesn't come out that often." Ginger said. "She must've liked the privileges given to an s-class." She grinned and wriggled her eyebrows.

"It's a pain to go out."

"You're just lazy." Jirile said.

"You can take it that way too." I said, accepting the adjective that I can't say if it's negative or not.

"Why don't we go to places?" Kesha suddenly suggested while looking like a child asking for her parent's permission. "Like the mall or the park? A day-off from our work?"

"A day off, you say?"

Their mouths shut close when I spoke. Did I sound wrong while saying it?

"Or we can just continue working, you know. Ha-ha." Kesha awkwardly looked away while sweatdropping.

So, I did say it wrong.

"No." All their heads turned to me. "A day off might not be bad."

All their face lightened up as well as Jirile who stayed silent when Kesha suggested a day off. She might be having a hard time working for her to that kind of face.

"So, where will we go?" Kesha excitedly asked me. She even scooped closer to me but Jirile pulled her away. "Where? Where?" Her eyes sparkled as she repeatedly asked the same question again and again.

She really likes slacking off, huh? I feel like she's not growing up.

"We can go to wherever you like. I haven't roamed around the school... completely."

"That's not a good thing, Violet. You should know the place in case of something might suddenly happen. You should think of ways to escape." Jirile said and the latter went silent. "Oh, I apologize. You don't even need to escape for your life." She immediately said.

"That's okay." I tapped her shoulders where she flinched. They're not comfortable with my touch. Did I go overboard with punishments after they overslept before? "Where do you want to go?" Welp, it was a dangerous situation outside so... not my fault.

At least they're still alive.

"Can we go to your floor?" Kesha immediately answered me with her sparkling eyes. I almost saw a tail behind her, wagging back and forth like a dog.

"You aren't allowed there for that kind of purpose." She wanted to hit two birds with one stone, huh?

"Aww..."

"How about the park or the town?" Herlye suggested.

"There's a town here?" Ginger, Kesha, and I asked. Jirile seemed to know what Herlye was referring to so she might have been there or heard about it.

"Yes, there is! But it's just small and it's mostly composed of stores. You can buy anything you want there if you don't like to go to the mall." Herlye said.

"Then let's go there then." The latter nodded at my decision.

Kesha giggled. "Looks like the Rioden cousins are having a bonding, I see."

The rest smiled at the idea since we entered with the same surnames. At least there's a reason why we gather together like this sometimes.

"Let's go?"

"Let's go!"
