Chapter One

Namjoon POV

"Last chance to grab anything before we leave!" Jin called out from the driver's seat of the large van. His sunglasses were on but pushed up to rest on his head and his arm hung out of the open window, pounding on the door. I shrugged my backpack on and shooed Jimin out the door as he ran past me, blanket in tow. He hopped into the open sliding door of the van and wedged himself between V and Suga. I got into the passenger side up front.

"Turn on the heat!" J-Hope demanded as he zipped up his hoodie further. It was a frigid 50 degrees outside and remnants of last week's snow still lay in sludgy piles. It had rained most of today, an icey, teeth chattering rain. I buckled up and leaned into my seat as Jin cranked up the heat. Most of everyone was quiet for a few moments as they enjoyed the warmth. Then we backed out of the main driveway and booked it for the main highway.

We had been granted a solid week off, a rarity in show business. Our manager had rented us a log cabin up in the remote forests 6 hours away. I had seen pictures and it seemed like a pretty calm place. A week away from civilization, cameras, stages, makeup, and whatever else comes with performing. All I wanted to do the first day was sleep. I inwardly groaned as the back of my seat was pushed in by a knee. I pulled my hat over my eyes and folded my hands over my chest. Most of this drive would be spent unconscious.

Jin POV

I looked over at my GPS and the long blue line along the road indicating my direction. It was another 200 miles before my next turn and I gripped the steering wheel tighter, inhaling deeply. I stole a glance at the rear view mirror. V and Suga were leaned over Jimin's shoulders as he played a game on his phone. They had wide smiles on their faces and would occasionally laugh. J-Hope was bundled in his hoodie and several other blankets as he slept against the side of the door. Jungkook played on his own phone, headphones in and zoned out to the world. RM was fast asleep next to me in the passenger seat, his mouth slightly open. His hat was pulled down against the early morning sun. I pulled down my sun vizor. It was barely 6 in the morning. We wanted to get a head start on driving to this cabin so we had the rest of the day to explore. RM wanted us to go hiking on either the third or fourth day, allowing one day to sleep in.

V POV

I smiled as Jimin's race car careened off the track once again, earning a discouraged grunt from its owner. He turned off his phone and yawned, leaning back against the seat and resting his head on my shoulder. Suga had already drifted off to sleep as well, leaning onto J-Hopes back and stealing some of his blankets. I was tired from waking up so early to start driving, but I also enjoyed watching the scenery pass by the window. The roads were still wet from the rains during the night, and some of the cars passing by even still had snow clinging to them. Jimin moved around some, unbuckled, and then leaned his head onto my lap, rebuckling his seatbelt across his stomach. I absentmindedly traced small circles into his back with my free hand the way he liked and continued watching the buildings pass by. We were nearly to the highway now, and one of the last structures to pass by was a small pizza place. My stomach growled at the thought of food. We hadn't eaten yet today as we wanted to get moving right away. Jimin noticed and poked me in the ribs. I jumped slightly and looked down at him.

"You hungry?" Jimin smiled, continuing to poke me. I grabbed his hand and pinned them to his side with a smile.

"Yeah, we didn't eat breakfast." I said as he folded his hands over his chest.

"I'm hungry too." He admitted but closed his eyes sleepily. "But I want to sleep for now." I decided to follow his lead and lay my arm over his chest, leaning back into the seat. I pulled my hood over my head and closed my eyes with a deep sigh.

I wasn't sure how much time had passed once I woke up. The only reason I had woken up was because we stopped. Jimin sat up from my lap, startled awake and slightly panting. Jin had gotten out of the van and was stretching outside the door, RM was opening the main sliding door.

"Rise and shine!" He said as he unbuckled my seatbelt. "Anyone need to pee or get a drink?"

"What time is it?" I asked sleepily and rubbed my eyes against the bright sun. The light breeze was sharp and cold, making me shiver. Suga and J-Hope stumbled out of the van next and stretched as Jungkook jumped out.

"Almost 10." Jin answered before RM could. "And about time we get a snack or something." While Jin refueled the van, the rest of us shuffled inside the gas station to raid the snack wall. I was feeling something salty, but Suga grabbed my wrist and dragged me to the candy aisle first. I could hear Jimin and Jungkook giggling by the icee machine and wondered what strange concoction they were making.

Suga POV

V was uninterested in my candy selection and he drifted off to see what Jimin and Jungkook were up to. I grabbed my candy and followed suit. RM and J-Hope were already there as we rounded the corner. Jimin had mixed watermelon with grape and was laughing at Jungkook's reaction to it.

"It's too sour! Throw some blue raspberry in there." He shoved the cup back towards his laughing peer.

"Guys, let's go!" I heard Jin's voice calling from the doors. Jimin brought his frankenstein slushie to the register and I dropped my candy on the counter. J-Hope and V hurried back out the door towards the van, V leaving some chips on the counter too.

Jungkook POV

I plugged in my headphones once again as the rest of everyone piled back into the van. As my music began, I leaned back into the seat and opened one of the bags of chips I had gotten. They'd take the edge off my gnawing hunger but Jin and RM wanted to eat once we got to the log cabin, that way we could cook something proper in an actual kitchen. Jimin and Suga were already complaining of being hungry even with their snacks and slushies. They didn't get much reaction, however, and resorted to sleeping through the rest of the drive. Driving was always boring until you got to where you needed to go.

Jimin POV

My stomach gnawed at me, desperately trying to get its point across. J-Hope was teasing me for it, giggling and poking me. Suga split a bag of chips open to share with me at least. By this point he had fallen asleep against my shoulder, his hood pulled over his light blue hair. I leaned against the door, pushing my pillow up for support. Suddenly the brakes hit hard and my seatbelt locked on my chest. Then RM's angry shout rang out, swearing obscenities as the van swerved in the lane. I jumped up, Suga already awake, and J-Hope let out a squeak of surprise.

"This moron nearly hit us!" RM continued yelling. Jin had his hand on his arm and glanced back at us. No one was asleep anymore and we were all on high alert.

"Someone tried to pass a car in their lane and moved into ours. They would have hit us if Joon didn't swerve." Jin explained calmly, though his voice was still wavering. I nodded and swallowed, my heart still pounding in my chest from the sudden lurch of the van. I plugged in my headphones and tried to relax again into the pillows.

J-Hope POV

The near accident had me too awake to try and sleep again. Jimin and V were buried in a pile of blankets and pillows, only Jimin's peach and V's light red hair visible. I guess we all looked kind of like a rainbow. Suga had light blue, V light red, Jimin peach, Jin black, RM a shade of blonde, Jungkook brown, and myself light green. V suddenly let out a huge sneeze, his yell reverberating around the van and making me jump. He seemed to not even wake up, leaning his head back down against Jimin's shoulder. RM was looking at us through the rear view mirror and I met his gaze. Jin didn't even move a muscle as he lightly snored against the door.

"Can you plug in my charger?" I felt a hand on my shoulder and I looked back at Jungkook in the back seat. He had most of the two free seats to himself back there, only a suitcase and backpack accompanying him. I nodded and took the plug and passed it up to RM, who plugged it into the charger port. The scenery outside had changed much, though I wasn't paying too much attention to it. I only noticed that instead of buildings and city, we were now entering more isolated places with more trees, hills, grass, basic plantlife.

"A deer!" Jimin's shout made me jump once again and I felt like I'd have three heart attacks before we arrived. I looked out the window at the passing mammal, its antlers wide and sharp. I wasn't even aware that Jimin was awake, let alone looking for animals.

"Wanna play I spy?" Jungkook tapped my shoulder again. He was leaned over the back of my seat, one arm draped over it. I nodded. "You go first."

"I spy, something...red." I said and confidently crossed my arms over my chest.

"Tulip." Suga's tired voice answered before Jungkook even had a chance. He was sitting up from the hoard of blankets and was listening in on our game. I sighed, Suga smiling wide.

"I spy, something white." He stated. Jungkook looked around outside wildly. I was stumped too. The sky would be too obvious, as the entire sky was overcast. "Give up?"

"Yeah." I said and looked to him for the answer.

"Your charger."

"What!? You can't do things inside the van!" I laughed but he shrugged.

"I spy something blue!" Jungkook was eager for his turn. Again I was stumped. There was nothing around outside that was blue, not even a flower or passing car.

"My hair?" Suga asked hesitantly. Jungkook blinked in surprise.

"That was fast." He said and I nodded, Suga was smart. I glanced up at Jin's phone on the dash, its GPS still running. We still had at least two hours to go. I groaned and slumped into my seat. Wake me when it was over...
