A Gargoyles Den 1

The rabbits we cooked weren't nearly enough to sustain us for the next day. We had 4 more and considering there is more than 30 people, it wouldn't be enough.

The night came and Haruka decided that we would 2 rabbits now and the other 2 for breakfast. It was risky, but the whole idea of adventuring out here was too.

I had also figured out the way for time in this place. When we were walking, I had kept my focus on the quest. The countdown was in days, hours, minutes and seconds. But it seemed like instead of 60 for every day, hour and minute, it was 50. So there was 50 seconds in a minute, 50 minutes in an hour and 50 hours in a day.

That was a lot, so I guess we have more time to find a school?

I guess we could spare a few days and live somewhere? Maybe figure out about this world before doing something stupid, then maybe we could continue with the quest.

...

I woke up refreshed and slightly hungry. Others, not so much. Many stomachs grumbled and many were losing hope. I felt sad for them, not everyone had my unique stat.

Yet we persisted and continued walking. Most of the girls and boys were getting weaker as time went by and some was on the verge of breaking down.

This was brutal. But of course we had no one else to blame except ourselves. Yet it made me want to hit something really hard.

But I couldn't hit anything to vent my anger as I too was growing weak.

I looked at the ESS stat or essence stat. It reminds me of the xanxia and wuxia type of novels. Where they could meditate and gather essence into their body or some other kind of energy and strengthen themselves.

I wonder if I could do that?

I closed my eyes and thought, what now? I'm not some genius when it comes to this. I thought of just trying to concentrate and then I would figure it out.

So when I did concentrate I had forgotten that by walking and closing my eyes I was walking away from the group. I quickly joined back and attracted some wondering eyes, eventually they went away and I could properly breathe.

I think this isn't the time to be trying something possibly risky. The grass plains were deadly, no matter what anyone says. The fact that there was no animals or beast there proved my point. What could possibly be that scary that everything in the vicinity is gone?

*RRAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH*

HAH!?

I looked up at the sound which scared me most. Something flying is not a good thing to fight right now, as we have all most no advantage over anything. Sure we had numbers but how much if us were useless?

A massive shadow was rapidly closing in on us from the horizon and everyone had the need to panic. I did too.

The sun was brighter than the one we had earth and constantly stopped us from seeing what the huge beast was. All we know is that it can fly and can probably kills us. That's all I needed to know to want to get out of this place.

*RUMBLE*

Great, now what? The ground was shaking and creaking. Some parts of the plains started to lift itself and some started getting overturned.

We huddled up close together and faced the dangerous world around us. Not heroically but cowardly. Not one of us could do anything even if we wanted to before thinking twice if it could possibly kill them.

The creaking ground became more prominent and the massive overshadowing beast in the sky started circling the area where we were.

From the ground came animals and beasts of all sorts of shapes. They all looked at the beast in the sky before cowering.

But what was weird about the creatures was that they were all stone? How could they move? What are they like that? Why is there a goddamn monster above us!?

Before we could understand what was happening, the beast in the sky had dived down to the ground and clash against the stone beast. I had a chance to use 'Observe' on both and then we can leave as fast as we can.

SHIT!!!

"RUN!!! RUN RUN RUN!!!" The others had instantly agreed and tried to quickly leave. Emphasis on tried, we were all tired and I was the only one in a good condition. So we all we could do was drag ourselves and hope for the best.

It was painfully excruciating to feel like your death was near and all of us felt it. We were desperate, living was one of the many luxuries that we all felt like was constantly being tested with this world.

We dragged and dragged ourselves further and further from the nearly ending battle of giants and stone. We had nearly done it! We had nearly escaped!

I guess I had celebrated early and god didn't like that.

In front of us was a massive ravine. All we could see in it was protruding stone and gravel. We couldn't even see the bottom of the ravine. All of us were staying back from it, yet we didn't want to go closer to the fight behind us.

We were conflicted between some rocks and a hard place. I used 'Observe' on it to see if it would identify land marks.

What the heck! There's more of them!? With the newly awarded information I leaned towards going closer to the fight behind us.

*GGRRRRRRRRRRRR*

Or I guess the gargoyle can bring the fight to us.

"""AAAHHHHHHH""" Everyone screamed and thankfully I was at the back to not experience my ear drums burst. But I sure was the closest to the gargoyle.

I looked at the gargoyle, it was looking between us and the ravine. I saw it went stiff before looking down menacingly at us.

I saw it swing back it's claw.

"JUMP!!!" I ran towards the ravine and jumped in. The darkness of the abyss swallowed me up. I turned upwards and found that I could see globs of splattered blood falling down into the ravine with me.

Followed by the blood, came 6 bodies. Luckily they made it. It was Haruka, Yua, Miss Prim, Handa and Hina. And some other boy?

I don't know who he was and quickly used 'Observe' on him before I hit the ground.
