The Truth

Sandra walked to her parents home as it wasn't far from where she lives. The walk felt like it took hours and she kept reciting in her head how to talk to them..."do I just tell them the facts? Do I asked them where I came from? What will they say?" The questions kept going around like a tornado and began to scramble. This walk was not helping to clear her mind, it was making everything a mess.

Stacey was home cooking as she liked to prepare the evenings dinner early so when her husband gets home she can focus her time with him. It was the little things in life as she was no longer a full time mother. She missed the messy house and laughter. She longed to have a busy house but it was always quiet now that Sandra was grown and now married. Stacey herd the door slam shut and found herself yelling to Henry that she was in the kitchen. What appeared before her was her daughter, she was sweating and her face the color of a tomato. "Sandra what on earth? Are you okay? Did something happen with Samual?". The only response she got were tears followed by sobs that made it impossible for Sandra to speak. She grabbed her tightly and held on as this has be something awful that happened to her baby. They stood in the kitchen for close to thirty minutes before Sandra was able to settle herself down just enough to start glaring. "You! How did you not tell me the truth! You and dad lied to me my entire life!" Sandra bellowed which she wanted to avoid but something took over. Stacey stood there in shock, "there is no way she could know" she thought to herself. "Let's call your father home since you are yelling at both of us" Stacey turned and grabbed the phone. Within five minutes Henry walked in, "what is going on, is everyone okay" as he put his keys near the door. He walked into the living room to find his daughter a mess..."did Samual hurt you! Wait till I get my hands on him!" He felt utter rage and turned around to storm out but Stacey stopped him with one statement "she knows..."

They sat in the living room for what seemed like forever. Stacey telling the story of their struggles to have children...their desire to be parents more than anything...Sandra just sat and listened to the entire story including how this little lady offered them the most wonderful gift. It was a lot to absorb, her parents are her parents but she shares a different gene pool. "Was that why you told me I took after Grammy? My hair being so dark and both of you with light hair?" Sandra had to clarify all those times she was referenced to a relative in looks or behaviors...

"This lady said she would never contact any of us! I just don't understand now!" Stacey blurted out of pure frustration. This is her daughter, she raised her, she loved her more than any other being in this world, just why now?

Sandra was calm enough after hearing everything and felt like there was the missing pieces. She never wanted to be just a housewife bearing children so the district had more people to work for them. She never could understand how her mother wanted nothing more than be her mother and a wife, a life of boredom! "I love you mom and dad! You are my parents not that lady who left me with strangers. I must go now, I left Samual at home and we are supposed to leave in a few hours". Sandra stood up and hugged both her parents like she just discovered they were her parents and she never knew all along. Two people who loved her and gave her everything. Just as quick as Sandra came she headed home.
