Harry Potter - The First Task (1/2)

It was the beginning of November and the first task of The Triwizard Tournament was getting closer and closer everyday. You were obviously not participating, because, firstly, you're not crazy, and secondly, you were only 14. So, technically, there was nothing for you to worry about..... or so everyone else thought.

There was a little reason why you were feeling more nervous and anxious everyday. Harry.

You and him have been friends since the first year, you even got to the same house and also played quidditch together. But you've always felt like there was something more between you two, the way your voice would start to shake whenever he'd talk to you, or the sudden raise of your heartbeat when he hugged you before every quidditch game. However, you've always tried to hide those things.

I mean, there was no chance that he, The boy who lived, would fall for someone like you, an ordinary girl with no special talents or skills. So when Dumbledore opened that piece of paper which had flown out of The goblet of fire and read Harry's name, your heart stopped for a second. You immediately realised, that somebody was trying to hurt him, but there was no way you could find out how. The only thing you could have done was to hope that he would get out of this stupid tournament alive. But by the time, it got ever worse.

You were walking towards the Gryffindor Common room when you accidentally bumped into someone.

"Oh, shoot, I'm so sorry", you said and raised your head, just to see one of the four champions. Cedric Diggory.

"No worries, I just got lost in my thoughts and stopped paying attention to where I was going, so I'm the one who should be sorry. But now that you're here, have you seen Harry today, I need to tell him something really important.", he said with a bit of a rush in his voice.

"I haven't, actually, but you sound like it's very urgent, so you can tell me what's going on and I'll secretly deliver your message if you want.", you said with an awkward laugh.

"Um, I'm not sure if I should tell you, because this kinda doesn't involve you."

"Wait, is this about the tournament?!", you shouted.

"Shhh, Y/N, stop yelling.", he whispered an pulled you aside.

"Okay, I will tell you everything, but you have to promise you won't tell anyone except Harry, understand?"

"Understand."

"Alright, how do I say this? Let's just say that I somehow found out what the first task is."

"What?!", you shouted again.

"I said stop yelling, somebody could hear us and I would get in trouble. Listen, since I realised that Fleur and Viktor probably found out from their teachers and I found out from.....pure investigation, it would be really unfair if Harry didn't know. And he's also the less experienced one and... "

"Okay, I understand, can you get to the point, please?", you cut him off nervously.

"Fine, but keep it a secret. The first task are dragons."

In that moment your whole body literally stopped functioning for a few seconds. Your head started to get heavier and you were feeling dizzy.

"Hey, Y/N, are you okay? Can you hear me?", you heared Cedric snapping his fingers and suddenly you came back into the reality.

"Yeah, I'm fine, I was just.... thinking."

"Alright, well, thank you for your help I guess.", he said with a nervous smile.

"No problem, it's whatever, but I really have to go now."

"Okay, see you later then."

You barely waited for Cedric's response and rushed into the Common Room, where you found your best friend, Ginny.

"Hey Ginny, have you seen Harry?", you asked quickly.

"Yeah, he was... Oh my god, what happened to you, you look so pale."

"Nothing, everything is fine, as usual.", you said with sarcasm in your voice.

"Well, sorry, I was just worried. But if you still wanna know, him and Ron just went to their room."

"Thanks, girl.", you said and sprinted upstairs. You didn't even bother to knock on the door and stormed into the room.

"Bloody hell, I'm changing right now, what are you doing here , Y/N?!", Ron yelled while covering his whole body with a blanket.

"Ron, put your pants on and get out of the room, I need to talk to Harry, it's private.", you ordered.

"Geez, okay, you could've said you two are having a date, Harry.", Ron laughed.

"Ronald!", you yelled and started throwing pillows at him, while he was running out of the room with laughter.

"Umm, sooo, what's going on?", Harry asked, obviously confused.

"Well, I think you should sit down for this."

You both sat down on his bed and you told him everything Cedric said. There was a long silence after you've finished talking, but Harry broke it first.

"Umm, well, thank you for telling me. I honestly have no idea what to do right now or how to beat the dragon, but I'll figure it out somehow."

"I can help you.", you said, trying to cheer him up.

"No, please, don't. I don't want you to get involved in stuff like this. I have to do this on my own."

With those words he left the room. You just sat there, feeling completely useless. Suddenly there was a knock on the door.

"May I come back to my room?", Ron asked, still holding the blanket in front of him.

"Do whatever you want, I won't bother you anymore, I promise."

With those words you ran out of the room. You started to feel tears coming out of your eyes, so you tried to hide them and quickly got to your room. You shut the door behind you, laid in bed, covered yourself with a blanket and were hoping that this was just a really bad nightmare. Unfortunately, it wasn't.
