About a week has passed.
Not much has happened since then. I learned a few things about this world, but nothing important. In mana accumulation class, all we did was learn how to circulate out mana correctly. I didn't really need it, but others did. Take Ordos for example, before he couldn't perform impartial body transformation with his tail but a week later and he could have his tail along with his feet transformed.
During break, I would sit on top of the academy and eat there. It's not that I was trying to avoid anyone… well kinda, I was trying to avoid that sadist. During my break, she would try to hunt me down and now I've developed a fear for sadists.
For magic practice, we learned basically all the basics of magic and to my surprise mostly everyone in our class needed this information.
Though this isn't related to magic, I realized that our class was combined with two other classes. And in one of those classes, Marth was in it.
Thankfully, he knew when it was time to chat with me and when it wasn't. Though I still receive stares from some of his friends. We are keeping our distances for now.
For combat class, our teacher was extremely strict. By strict, I mean really strict.
Not only does she yell at us if we fail, she sometimes orders us to fight her in an uneven battle. One time she chose five students to fight her and her alone. The outcome? She won. So far I haven't been called to fight her yet and I'm hoping I don't have to fight her soon.
Today I was a bit excited than usual. Why? Because today in mana accumulation class we are learning how to invoke our wings. Those that aren't able to summon their wings will be working on their senses. For example, if they are a snake, they can work on trying to transform their tongues into that of a snake so they can smell. That's basically it, I think you get the idea.
Those whose Spirito have wings or anything to make them fly were all lined up. We were all in our combat outfits. Of course we aren't going to be practicing magic and combat with our school uniforms or else they would tatter. The others were taken to another part of the courtyard by Garamus' assistant.
After that, Garamus began to deliver the lesson.
"Today, I will be teaching you how to trigger your wings."
Some of us became excited but others were a bit nervous, one of them being Ordos. I wondered why.
"I notice that some of you are uneasy about this. I know the feeling. The first time unlocking your wings is a hard, and painful process."
Painful process? That must be why some of us are a bit uneasy.
"I will have one of you show demonstrate on how to obtain your wings. Aurelia Lucifis."
"Here."
"Please come up."
Aurelia approached Garamus. Then she faced all of us. She closed her eyes and placed her hands together.
"First, you need to accumulate all of your mana to your back, or your arms if that's how it must work. Next, you'll have to remove all the negative energy that is stored near the area where your wings are supposed to come out. That negative energy is the reason why you are unable to call forth your wings. Once you remove the negative energy out from your back, the process of summoning your wings will be painful as it'll have to squeeze through the tiny spiritual gap that the negative energy has been clogging. After that, you send out all your mana and this is your outcome."
Flash!
A bright light came from Aurelia. Her wings were much larger than before. There was energy spilling everywhere and the surrounding area began to heat up.
"Your wings will become like this. It will be imperfect, but it's a good thing as you have now expanded the gap that has been limiting you from calling these things forth. Since her highness has already broken that gap, she can call these forward with ease. It's best to reduce the size of your wings though since it'll be difficult to control such large wings."
Aurelia's wings would begin to shrink, and they were the size that I saw during the entrance exam. I noticed that her breathing looked ragged. Guess even if she was able to have wings that large, it is still hard for her to handle them.
"Now then, you will each pick a partner for this. The reason why is that your partner will be there just in case you are unable to remove the negative energy. I will be here just in case you need any help."
With that, I chose my partner.
Or should I say… my partner chose me?
"Yeah, so do you want to go first or… me?"
Ordos in front of me asked as a drop of sweat trickled down the side of his cheek.
"Don't be a pussy, you're going first."
"Huh? Why am I going first? Are YOU scared of going first?"
"No, it's just that the look on your face is ticking me off. I am completely prepared for this, but I don't think you are."
"Oh fine."
Ordos stood still and closed his eyes. He would do the same stance that Aurelia did. I'm guessing this is the stance that you need to do for summoning your wings for the first time. Everyone was doing it so this was my conclusion.
I concentrated some mana into my eyes. This will allow me to see the energy flow of others. Looking at Ordos, his whole body was concentrated with yellow light with a mixture of orange fluid-like energy. I took a quick glance at his back and sure enough, there was a distinct color that didn't fit his energy at all. It was a cloud of dim gray energy clogging two tiny spaces which probably measured about a centimeter.
Now that I know how small the openings are, I could see why people would feel pain. Expanding such a small space would be extremely hard and painful. It's like opening up a small infected cut.
"Hey Seiya, do you see it? Cause I can't feel it for some reason."
"Yeah yeah."
I placed my hand onto his back and shared some of my mana. My energy was a mixture of orchid and black liquid-like energy. My mana began traveling through Ordos' body and eventually they reached where the negative energy was. Now negative energy can be moved but they cannot be destroyed no matter what which is kind of weird but after that, the negative energy will do nothing but wander through your body. They are kind of like blood cells, just wandering through your blood vessels. They are basically harmless.
"Alright, they're gone. Try it now."
"Alright."
Ordos began rushing all of his mana to his back. His back bulged, as if something wanted to come out.
"Ow ow ow it hurts."
Ordos cried out as his back began to glow.
"C'mon Ordos, you got this."
I said to cheer him up and in a matter of seconds, pale-golden bat-like wings extended from Ordos' back. I quickly rolled to the side before I was hit by one of them.
Once I stood up from my feet, standing in front of my eyes was Ordos with wings about the size of himself.
"See, it was easy."
"Yeah right, it hurt like hell."
"It can't be that bad."
"Oh yeah?"
Ordos would point at the other students around us and I could see the face of pain on each and everyone's face. Some of them were even crying and some were screaming.
"Now it's your turn."
"Alright."
I would get into the same stance and began to accumulate all my energy. I focused all of my energy near my back.
"Am I there?"
I asked Ordos and he nodded.
"Well then, here we go."
I began removing the negative energy stored around the small gaps near my back. After that, I could feel spaces opening up on my back.
Alright, here we go.
I began flushing all of my energy through the tiny gaps and they went through like a vacuum.
However, that was a bad idea because the next thing I knew, I was shrieking in pain. I dropped onto the floor and clenched the ground.
"GAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!"
It hurts! It hurts so fucking much!!!
"YEAH! NOW YOU KNOW HOW MUCH IT HURTS!"
"…shut… up…"
The pain was spreading. Is this normal??? I don't think this is how it's supposed to work.
The pain.
It was in my arm.
My legs.
Fuck!
It was everywhere. Even my head!
I rose my fist and smashed the ground, leaving a small crack.
"Whoa… what the."
I don't know what Ordos said but it was probably about me. Maybe my wings are coming out?
I don't really know. All my thoughts were everywhere and I couldn't think straight.
Suddenly I felt a rushing feeling spill from my back.
Whoosh!
Shatter!
I don't know what happened but I felt something heavy on my back. I was lying on the ground like a dog lying on their belly. I tried lifting myself up but it was as if I was lifting a truck on my back. Has truck-kun come back to claim its kill?
"Hey, you alright?"
I heard Ordos say as he helped me up. I nodded and asked what noise that was earlier.
"Dude, you broke every single window in the academy with your wings!"
"R-really?"
"Yeah, I mean look."
I looked around and he was right. Every single window was broken. Everyone was looking down onto the courtyard and they were specifically staring at me.
Earlier, he said my wings did this?
I looked over my shoulder and I knew why my back was so heavy now. My wings were large, probably the same size as Ordos'. Instead of one pair, there were two and they were both coated jet black.
I could feel my back being a little different and I tried extending my wings. When they were fully extended, they were much larger, probably double the size. They were lightly glowing a violet light, and they gave off this sound that sounded like it came from some sci-fi movie.
People were starting to give me looks now, and I didn't like it. So I retracted some parts of my wings back into my back and they were at normal size now. As I began to relax, my wings folded down in a matter of a coat.
"Well… at least we managed to do it."
I pointed out, and Ordos nodded hesitantly.
