Two More Days

Two weeks have passed…

On the weekends, I've been training with Ordos to prepare for the upcoming exam.

Since the exam required a partner, I decided to pick Ordos. Now at first I was against it but I admit he is going to be beneficial. His sand abilities will do well against opponents.

Today is Saturday, the exam starts Monday so we don't have much time till it starts. Only two more days. Currently, we are practicing aerial combat.

Whoosh!

"Whoa! C'mon man! Using Piercing Vortex in the air?!"

Ordos complained. I'd spread my wings, catching myself in the air.

"Stop your whining, tomorrow is our last day to train so we need to use this time to train our hardest."

Ordos flapping his golden bat-like wings shook his head and descended onto the ground. I followed him and then folded my wings.

"I don't know man. I'm pretty nervous, I mean, what will Manami say if I fail?"

His expression became all nervous and he began to bite his fingernails. What a siscon…

Looks like I'm going to have to wake this guy up.

I'd transform my right arm into its spirito form. Then I stuck it up into the air and it began to glow.

"H-huh? Seiya what are you do-?"

"Dodge."

Then I brought my hand down towards Ordos and his eyes suddenly widened. Quickly, he jumped away, avoiding my attack.

KA-BOOM!

The ground dug in, making a crater. Steam came out of the cracks in the ground and I withdrew my fist. I looked over at Ordos who was shaking nervously.

"W-w-w-what are you doing?! Are you trying to kill me?!"

"We're training, what else?"

I ran towards Ordos and threw a quick cross punch. As a result of lowering his guard, he received the hit and flew back.

"If you keep acting like that, then you are no different than dead weight."

That seemed to tick him off because a second later, I received a powerful blow to my stomach.

WHAM!

I was then launched into the air and then a minute later, I was stabbed in the back.

"Gough!"

I fell down onto the ground and spat out some blood. I lift my head up to see Ordos with an angered look in his eyes. He was in his impartial spirito form; his arms and his legs were bulky and covered with sand-colored fur, his scorpion tail stabbed the ground and his wings were fully expanded. His green eyes were now glowing red.

"You…"

His voice was filled with anger and his aura was shaped like a raging fire.

"Don't you dare call me dead weight!"

Hmph, even though he's a stupid idiot, it looks like he does have some pride in him.

I took a step forward but Ordos appeared in front of me. Caught off guard, I was gifted with a barrage of fast and powerful punches.

Pow-Wham-Bam~!

Crap, he's fast!

I was knocked down onto my back. I attempted to lift myself up but Ordos kept punching me, knocking me back into the ground. I was being pounded into the ground without pause. It looks like I've boiled his anger to the point where he can't control it because he seemed to not act human anymore.

At one point he grabbed me by my scarf and swung me around, then he threw me into the air. He would then fly towards me and hammered me into the ground.

"ROOOAAAARRRRRR!!!!!"

His cry echoed through the air and behind him, a flock of crows came out of the forest. The leaves on the trees rustled violently.

I think I'll need to calm him down. If he keeps this up, only two outcomes will follow. One, I get a concussion for a week or two. Or, he overworks himself and he'll be the one in a coma.

I quickly got onto my feet and transformed; my arms and legs were in their spirito form and I would also focus my energy into the area in between where my wings come out.

Ching!

A metal noise came from my back and I clenched my hands. I would look over my shoulder to see a long, thick reptilian tail with a barbed tip that had a kind of metal texture. I would also pour mana into my eyes, which in result glowed. This gives my senses a boost so now I can keep up with Ordos' movement.

I smashed the ground with my left fist and the ground began to heat up.

I'll try to stop him. This was supposed to be a little training session but it looks like it got out of hand. If I can't stop him, however, then I might resort to killing him. Hopefully, I don't have to do that.

I'll have to be fully concentrated for this, I can't risk lowering my guard for one second.

I looked up at Ordos. He was giving off steam which poured out from his mouth.

"Come Ordos, I'll play with you for a bit."

Responding to my provocation, Ordos roared and dove towards me. Last time I wasn't able to see his movements because he was so fast, but now that I heightened my senses, I can see his every move.

Ordos came at me with a powered fist, too slow. I easily stepped to the side and allowed him to crash into the heated ground. He would swing his tail around, trying to hit me blindly, but I managed to catch it. I dragged Ordos out of the ground and begun to swing him around. After that, I slammed him into the ground.

I would try to swat Ordos with my tail but he managed to dodge. Ordos charged towards me with his spear but his movements were sloppy, thus giving me an opening.

I stepped to the side right before he was able to hit me with his spear. Right there, I drew my dagger and managed to cut a bit of his wing off.

Ordos opened his mouth to roar but I kicked his face in before he could do anything, sending him flying away.

WHAM!

As he got up staggered, I would sheath my dagger and started to focus my mana into my hands.

Bbbmm~

Many magic formations appeared in front of me. One, two, three, they just kept appearing until there were six. I was going to perform a sixth-tier spell, the highest form of intermediate magic.

Ordos managed to stand still and he charged towards me, but it was too late, I had already finished charging up my attack.

"It's time to wake up Ordos! Take this, Scarlet Bullets!"

The magic formations would then combine, forming a small, red circle. Out of it came out brilliant red flames that flew straight towards Ordos at high speed, hitting him all over the body and causing a mild explosion that caused damage.

I kept it on for a while until my arms gave up. I fell onto my knees and sank into the shadows to regain my mana.

After that, I came back onto the surface and approached Ordos who was laying on the ground.

"Are you done?"

Ordos sighed and asked what happened.

"You went berserk because I called you deadweight, and I had to stop you. You went mad over something so trivial. Maybe you are dead weight after all."

"Damn it, if I was just stronger than you then I could shut that mouth of yours."

"Sadly you can't because I'll be the one to shut you up."

"N-no c'mon man. I wasn't able to speak for a whole day."

"Maybe next time you shouldn't make a contest that you might not win. And besides, I have two more weeks."

"I'll take that into account."

"Good grief. Get up, you're pretty injured so I'm gonna have to send you home. Tomorrow, get as much rest as you can, I don't want my partner coming to the exam all tired and bruised up."

I would begin to walk away until I heard Ordos mutter.

"Well, can you at least help me? I, uhh… I don't think I can move."

What an idiot.

***

It was the evening when I dropped Ordos off. With that time, I decided to wander around the city. For the exam we are allowed to bring potions, so I decided to head to the nearest potion shop.

After buying the potions I needed, I was now heading back towards the city. Along the way, I heard noises coming from an alley.

"Now now lady, how about we have a little… fun?"

"Umm, s-sorry but I really need to-"

"Oh c'mon now, it'll be quick."

"Yeah yeah!"

I peeked into the alley and spotted five men ganging up on a cloaked figure. From the figure's voice and height, it is most likely a woman.

I've seen enough anime to know where this is going. So, I'm not going to interfere.

But as I was going to walk away, the woman spoke once more.

"If you won't let me go, then I'll have to resort to violence and I really don't want to do that."

Her voice sounded a bit familiar. I have my suspicions but it can't be her. She can use magic to get out of there but I guess she must be faithful to the law which forbids you from using magic.

"Oh? You think you can fight all of us? You can't do anything young lady so just give up and let us have some fun."

The five men were all huge and buff. So if I were to guess, they'd be the defensive type.

The men began to approach the woman but then she jumped up and kicked one of them in the face, knocking him out.

Impressive…

She would try to strike the guy again but then she was quickly caught by the other four. They had got a hold of her arms and legs.

The guy who was on the ground quickly got up and then he licked his lips.

"That actually hurt. Now I think I should return the favor!"

"N-no! Let go of me!"

Good grief, I don't know why she is covering herself up but I guess I should interfere.

"Hey you guys."

I began approaching the gang and placed my bag of potions on the ground.

"What is it brat?"

The tallest guy(probably the leader) spoke with a smug face as he faced me.

"Oh, I was just here to say that I don't think this is appropriate. I mean, she is underaged."

"And so? What are you gonna do about it?!"

Yare yare…

"Well, I guess I'll just have to smack you silly."

The gang laughed at what I just said and I just shook my head, thinking about how I should beat the other four.

"Kid, get lost before you get hurt."

"I should be saying that to you."

With those words, his expression changed.

"What did you say?! You brat, take this!"

Did he not hear me? He must be deaf, I guess I'll have to wake him up.

As I was thinking, he threw a fist at me.

He could've gone with a tackle and easily overpowered me but I couldn't have expected more from a thick-headed thug like this guy.

I easily avoided the punch and balled my left fist. Then I punched him directly in the temple.

Crack!

Oops, I may have put too much strength in that. I can't really control how much strength I can put in my left fist, after all, I am a righty.

The thug flew into the wall and landed on the floor. The other guys let go of the girl and ran towards me one by one. Idiots, you should all come at me at the same time.

With ease, I took down each and every one of them with the same move I did with the first thug; a heavy strike to the temple. That should keep them out of commission for a week or longer. In fact, they might be blind for a month.

After defeating the guys, I walked over to the cloaked girl on the ground.

"Are you alright?"

"Y-yes, thank you."

"I know you could've beaten them but you didn't, why?"

"I-I can't fight more than three people, even for me, it's difficult. And I'm surprised you even know who I am."

"Your voice told me everything. So, mind telling me why her highness is wandering around the streets at this hour?"
