Autumn's POV~
I ran down the beach. I was so late that it made me question if I should still be running. Me and Megan had planned on meeting on the beach today. But I had gotten held up in traffic on my way.
It was Megan and I's 1 year anniversary and I didn't want to let her down. Though I figured I already had.
As I ran further down the coast I spotted a small circular shape in the sand made out of candles. As I rushed closer I saw that they were red lilac candles. And they were in the shape of a heart. I spotted a small piece of paper being held down by sand in the center of the heart.
I gently stepped over the candles and bent down to retrieve the paper. When I stood back up I realized it had words scribbled on it. It was a note.
I slowly whispered the words as I read.
"Dear Autumn,
Happy 1 year anniversary! And I figured I would set up a little treasure hunt for my greatest treasure. So here it goes.
You will go to the three destinations on here that I say. You will find the treasure. Add the three up and you will find the final destination.
First destination. Under the bridge.
Second destination. Under the willow tree by the parking lot.
Third destination. The rock pile where we had our first date.
I wish you the best of luck baby.
Love Megan,"
I finished reading the note and felt like I had to start instantly. I shoved the note deep into my back pocket and took off. I ran down the beach once more.
Thankfully the bridge wasn't that far away. I reached the wooden structure and began searching for my treasure. I found a single candle. The same kind as the ones from the heart.
Under the candle layed another piece of paper. When I raised it up. It showed a giant flashlight pointing at a boat. I shrugged and ran to my next destination.
The willow tree. As I ran I saw a couple walk by. The girl was laughing at the boy. He must have said a joke.
I turned back to my treasure hunt and went to the willow tree. I spotted another candle like the others and grabbed the paper from beneath.
It was a drawing of water.
Once again I shrugged and walked to my last destination.
I climbed up the rocks and found the last candle. I grabbed the paper and found that it was colored with stripes of red and white.
That's when all of the drawings clicked together. The one place Megan never wanted to go. The lighthouse out on the water. She was always to scared that the path would be to narrow and that I would end up falling in.
I turned to look out across the water. I saw the lighthouse. The sun had gone down an hour ago and the giant light was on in the tall building.
I jumped down from the rocks and put all the papers into my pocket with the first note. I smiled as I began my walk out to the building in the middle of the water.
I walked along the stone path and looked down watching my step. As I walked I saw that the path was lit by the same candles as all the others. As I walked out farther I saw that there were some little red circles in the water and on the path. Once I looked closer I realized that they were rose petals.
I smiled even wider. I stopped in my footsteps when all of a sudden I could here music. It was faint but I could tell where it was coming from and what it was singing. It was coming from the lighthouse at the end of the path. And it was playing my favorite songs. Ring of fire, you are my sunshine, and other older songs.
As I came up on the old stone building I saw that the ladder leading up to a normally locked trapdoor. Lead up to an open trapdoor that leaked flickering light and soft music.
I began to climb the ladder. Once I got all the way up and into the room. I saw Megan looking out across the water with her back to me. Softly humming to the music. She had a bundle of orchids in her hand and a picnic basket next to her. She had two glasses of purple liquid next to her. It was meant to look like wine but it was really just regular grape fruit.
I smiled as her hair whipped around her shoulders from the wind. Her beautiful dirty blond hair.
I cleared my throat causing her to jump. When she turned around she smiled at me. She stood up and gently places the flowers into my hands. Being careful not to let any of the thorns stab me. She had a red spring dress on and she was bare foot.
I was in a green knee high dress and black dress sandals. My black hair was tied up in a ponytail. Megan's hair was down and flying wild around her shoulders. Making her look like the goddess she was.
I shifted the flowers to one arm and took her hand. We sat down together on the blanket and talked. We talked about the year we had been together. And about our future. That's when I said the one thing that's been on my mind.
"Megan. When we graduate college. I want to get married. I don't care if we have to move out of the country to marry. Or if we have to organize a private wedding. I want to spend my life with you."
"Anything for you my baby girl. My Baby girl." We spent the rest of the night together watching the stars.
