CHAPTER 25
MCKINLEY P.O.V
Luke had been amazing the last few weeks. He was kind and thoughtful and gave me my space when I needed it. I was also feeling a lot better than I had been. I was actually able to go back to work even though I often took half days and finished the rest of my work at home.
Me and Luke were staying in more often than going out. We cooked for one another instead of going to a crowded restaurant where the food was overpriced.
"I'm gonna go get my nails done." I commented as I grabbed my bag.
"Alright. Be safe. Call me if you need me." Luke commented as he spread out on the couch and I leaned down to kiss him.
"I love you." I smiled.
"I love you more." I left and went to get my nails done before quickly rushing back to him to make dinner. He was asleep on the couch when I got there. I smiled fondly at him before covering him with a blanket and going to the kitchen to cook him dinner. We had both decided on tacos yesterday during dinner and he rushed out this morning to buy the things we would need and even invited the boys over so we could all eat together.
"Smells good." He commented coming into the kitchen and wrapping his arms around me. I smiled as I looked over my shoulder at him before getting out plates and bowls to put things in.
"Thanks." I commented as the front door opened and Michael walked in with margarita mix. "Oh yes, Michael!" I said taking it from him excited and going to find the blender. Calum and Ashton showed up together just as I finished making everything and we sat down around the coffee table eating and talking. "Let's go get some ice cream." I said. I drank like 4 margaritas so I was a little tipsy.
"How about we stay in? You look a little drunk."
"I'm not drunk." I fought and tried to stand up and got too dizzy. "Maybe I'm a little drunk." I giggled leaning against the couch. The all laughed at me as I laid there defeated.
"I don't think you're suppose to drink on that medication." Luke said standing up to read the bottle. "Yeah, babe, you're not suppose to do that." He commented shaking his head.
"I'm sorry. Don't be mad at me." I said giving him puppy dog eyes.
"I'm not. Say good night to the boys." He said picking me up off the floor.
"Good night boys!" I giggled as he carried me away and got me into bed. "Did you enjoy the tacos?" I questioned.
"I did, baby. Now sleep okay? I'm gonna go chill with the boys." He said as he wrapped a blanket around me and left. I couldn't fall asleep but I turned the t.v on to finish watching season 3 of How to Get Away with Murder. Luke and I had started watching it together but he got bored with it and stopped watching it with me.
I wasn't sure if he was mad at me or not. It wasn't like it was the first I had gotten drunk but none of us were expecting each other to get drunk and I just happened to be the one to go that far. It happened a lot, I was the lightweight of the group.
I slowly got up to pee and stood by the door listening to them talk.
"I love her." I heard Luke say.
"I can tell." Calum responded. "You don't stop talking about her and when she was going through some stuff you were there the whole time. That's all a relationship is."
"What?" Luke asked.
"A relationship. All it is, is being there for people when they need you. So many people don't get that."
"I would do anything to make her happy." He commented making me smile. I felt the same way about him. Luke had this thing about him that shouted that he was going to change the world someday. And he was going to. He would change the world someday and maybe not everyone's world but someone's. He was going to make people feel things with his music. He was already changing my world.
He made me excited about things that I would have never been excited about before. He made me look at the bright side of things instead of looking at the bad. He made showers fun when they used to be boring. I often kept the blinds closed, keeping out the light. He keeps them open letting the light pour in through the windows to light up the room.
He's the type of person to make other's happy. He puts everyone before himself and he likes it that way. He has never been selfish. Ever. He was my world and I wanted to be his.
I snuck to the bathroom before heading back to bed and I couldn't stop myself from smiling like an idiot at his words. He was so in love with me and it was so cute to watch him fall for me. I had never had a love like that. I only ever felt lust towards guys but with Luke it was so different. I never wanted him to leave. I wanted him to be with me for the rest of my life if that's what he wanted.
I giggled as I rolled over and looked out the window so that I could see the moon, since he always left the blinds open. Around 10 Luke came into the room and I couldn't help but stare at him.
"What?" He asked as he took his clothes off and laid beside me in bed. "Are you feeling better?" He asked and I nodded.
"I heard you talking about me." I giggled blushing.
"Oh. You weren't suppose to hear that." He commented making me giggle again. I loved him. I loved him so much.
*LUKE P.O.V*
The next morning before McKinley was awake I ran to the flower shop across the street to buy her flowers and then make her breakfast. I went to turn on the faucet and nothing came out.
"You've gotta be kidding me." I mumbled going to wake her up.
"What happened?" She asked rolling over onto her stomach.
"The water isn't working." I said and she groaned.
"Why do they do this to us?" She asked reaching for her phone on her table before calling someone and letting them know that the water wasn't working. "What did you need the water for?"
"I was making you breakfast." I commented laying beside her. "I guess it won't be happening."
"It's alright. I'm not all that hungry anyway." She sighed cuddling into me. "Can I ask you a question?"
"You just did." I smirked.
"Oh shut up. I was just wondering, if you had gotten married and then you met me, what do you think would happen?" She asked and I had no idea how to answer that question. It was almost like a trap question. You know when women ask those type of questions? Like 'what do you think of bellybutton piercings' and if I say I like them she gets upset thinking I want her to get one and if I say no and she already has it she'll be upset and take it out? It was one of those.
"I'm not sure. I mean, she would be my wife. I couldn't cheat on her." I commented. "But it never happened so you don't have to worry about that. I love you and only you and nothing is going to change that." I smiled kissing her as she giggled and rolled to sit on my lap.
"The guys aren't mad right?"
"Of course not." I shook my head. "They're just worried about you drinking on your medication." I added.
"It won't happen again." She answered as someone knocked on the door and I went to get it. It was her apartment but I'm sure she had no idea how to deal with things like this.
"Hi." I answered shaking the guys hand and letting him into her apartment. He went around checking the faucets and when no water came out he sighed. "Is this happening to anyone else?" I questioned.
"Yeah. The whole building is out. There's a guy down there fixing it now." He answered and I nodded.
"Do you know when it'll come back on?"
"No idea. We might need to get a new water heater." He confirmed. "Which is going to take a few days so I would suggest staying at a hotel or something." He said.
"Alright. Kin? Won't have water for a few days. Wanna go to my place?" I asked her.
"Wait seriously?" She questioned.
"Yeah I'm serious. Get the cat and some clothes and we'll go stay at my place." I added picking up our clothes that were on the floor.
"This sucks." She sighed.
"On the bright side you get to sleep with me for the next few days." I smirked pulling her into me.
"We sleep together every night Lucas." She giggled kissing me. "Alright, let's go." She said as she picked up the cat and we went down to our cars to drive to my place. Once we were inside I started cooking. There was no way that I would be able to go another hour without food. "I want some." She said coming into the kitchen holding the cat and the dog followed behind her.
"You can have some." I answered getting out two plates setting them both at the island. She sat down but still held the cat. "You can put him down you know."
"I'm afraid Loki will attack him." She mumbled holding him closer to his chest making me chuckle.
"She won't attack him." I commented and made her go lay down in her bed before McKinley felt safe enough to let him on the floor. Loki came running and McKinley freaked and yelled at me to pick the cat up. "Calm down and let them meet would you?" I said and she seemed worried as they smelled each other before going their own way. "See."
"What if she hurt him?" She asked as I placed the food on her plate. I stood in front of her as we ate and we talked about going into Time's Square and maybe do some shopping.
I held her hand as we walked around. We stopped and stood off to the side so that she could look up at the lights but my eyes never left her face. She was so beautiful and she had no idea how in love I was with her. I wanted to grow old with her. I wanted to make her breakfast lunch and dinner every single day. I wanted to raise animals and children with her.
I wanted to buy a house with her someday. I wanted to have a pool and have our friends over all the time. I wanted her. I needed her. People always told me to never need a person to survive because people leave, but I need her. I can't even go a few hours without talking to her. I never wanted to lose her.
"I never want to leave you." I suddenly said.
"I would never leave you." She said gripping my hand tighter. "I love you. I trust you. I want this to go on for as long as possible." I smiled down at her. I knew her trusting me meant more than her loving me. It's easy to love people, it's hard to trust them. I knew she had trust issues after what she went through with her father, I don't blame her. But for her to trust me, that was huge.
She loved me. I loved her. What more to this love story can I tell?
