The beginning

Joe had been anxious all day and didn't know why, The entire day at work had been horrible. The restaurant where he worked was busy all all night he burnt the food and dropped dishes ,he was yelled at all night for being clumsy. now he could finally call it a night as he walked home on the dark streets to his house. Only he still didn't feel right, there was no one the the stree as far as he could see but he never felt alone. As if someone or something was watching him from the dark just out of sight. As he turned the last corner to his street he started to hear something, softly as first like a whisper barely audible. He brushes it off as his imagination but as he continues to walk it slowly starts getting louder glancing around he still sees know one. Continuing on his way he starts to get nervous. Finally seeing his house at the end of the street he runs the last stretch to his door, "Almost home."

he says out loud as he reaches his door and as if answering him the whisper clearly replies

"I'm getting closer."

Now terrified joe slams his door making sure to lock it as he runs upstairs to his room.

The next day he feels worse he never got any sleep too worried about the voice at the end of last night that had replied to him. But nothing else happened. Now he just has to deal with work at the restaurant tonight and go home but he is exhausted from lack of sleep and the long hours of fast pace work aren't helping. Now done with work he begins the long walk home again still hesitant over last night but slowly convincing himself it was his imagination after all now else lives near him he lives on a dead end street with no lights his house was left to him by his grandfather and its the only one on the street.

Leaving the well lit streets behind he starts walking home. As if it knew he was in the dark the same barely herd whisper assault his ears again. But this time its different clearer than the last time.

"I'm getting closer. "

Over and over the same thing, Now completely terrified Joe runs the entire length of his journey home. Finally there he opens his door heaving a sigh of relief he goes upstairs for another restless night.
